DECATUR -- Elizabeth Harris Vaughan, 85, of Shelbyville, formerly of Decatur, died 7:02 p.m. Saturday (April 19, 2002) in Shelbyville Manor.
Arrangements are incomplete at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake, Va. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Vaughan was born April 7, 1918, in Newsoms, Va. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Chesapeake. She married George I. Vaughan on Sept. 4, 1937.
Surviving are her children, George E. (Helma) Vaughan of Garland, Texas; Paul Vaughan of Chesapeake; Virginia and Mary Weber of Dalton City; eight grandchildren, including: Helen (Tim) Brandenburg of Bethany; Dawn Weber of Peoria; Joanne (Tim) Doss of Glasford; 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

John was born March 7, 1905, in Fayette County, the son of James and Mary Elizabeth Lemons Lofland. He married Nora Buck on Nov. 25, 1924, in Vandalia. She preceded him in death May 29, 1993.
Surviving are his son, John Lofland of Lovington; daughters, Norma Jean Davis and Georgia Alberta Redford, both of Sullivan; Juanita Delores Handford of Long Beach, Calif.; Mary Elizabeth Willoughby and Sharon Rosalee Armer, both of Sullivan; Barbara Ann Decker of Findlay; brother, Orville Lofland of Decatur; 40 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sons, two daughters, one brother, one sister, one half brother and one half sister.

MOUNT ZION -- Sheri L. Blackshire, 38, of Piqua, Ohio, died 5 p.m. Sunday (April 20, 2003) in Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio.

Mrs. Blackshire was born Nov. 13, 1964, in Pana, the daughter of Don and Charlene Lines Eddington of Mount Zion. She was a 1982 graduate of MacArthur High School and had worked at the Decatur Health Department, Baldwin Associates and Decatur School District. She attended Second Baptist Church in Piqua and was active in the Relay for Life event of the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed her family, the local soccer program and birds. She married Dennis L. Blackshire on June 12, 1985, in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband; sons, Josh Blackshire and Coady Blackshire, both of Piqua; brother, John Eddington and wife Tami of Mount Zion; sister, Donna Hardy and husband Todd of Mount Zion; nieces and nephews, Makaela Eddington, Merrik Eddington and Jessica Hardy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reno and Barb Blackshire of Mount Zion.

DECATUR -- Pvt. Jonathan Lee Gifford, 30, of Decatur passed away March 23, 2003, while serving his country in Iraq.

Jonathan was born Oct. 30, 1972, in Decatur, the son of John and Vicky Godfrey Gifford. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1991. He worked for Archer Daniels Midland Co. before enlisting in the Marine Corps on Oct. 23, 2001.
Surviving are his daughter, Lexie LeeAnn Gifford; former wife, Vickey; father, John Gifford and wife Carol of Decatur; mother, Vicky Langley and husband Tim of Decatur; sisters, Valerie Gifford and Tiffany Blastenbrei and husband Marine Staff Sgt. Todd Blastenbrei, all of Decatur; nephew, Mason Gifford of Decatur; grandparents, Ronald and Peggy Gifford and William and Reva Godfrey Jr., all of Decatur; many other family members who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Gould, and sister, Jennifer.

DECATUR -- Eddie Joe Grandfield, 69, of Decatur died Sunday (April 20, 2003) in his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: DMH Home Health & Hospice Services.
Mr. Grandfield was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Vandalia, the son of George and Ethel Lawson Grandfield. He served his country in the Navy during the
Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3862. He retired from ADM Trucking in 1999. He married Jean McCammack on July 3, 1973.
Surviving are his wife; son, Edward "Chig" Kent Grandfield of Vandalia; stepdaughters, Vicki Hill of Decatur; Kathleen (Jim) Wells of Maroa; brothers, Darrell (Joy) Grandfield of Rome, N.Y.; Kent Grandfield of Vandalia; grandchildren, Lora (Scott) Allen, Leslie Hill, Stacey (John) Wenskunas and Nick Dodd, all of Decatur; Lisa Christ of Greenville, N.C.; Lindsay Hill of Honolulu, Hawaii; Angie Wells of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Jessica Wenskunas, Johnny Wenskunas, Jennesa Wenskunas and Zachary Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Ed was dearly loved by all who knew him.
