Reeves
CLINTON -- Eldon M. Reeves, 78, of Clinton died 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 2, 2003) in the family residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Visitation was Friday. Burial will be in Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Clinton or St. John's Hospice, Springfield.
Eldon was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Clinton, the son of Roy Reeves and Nellie Rench. He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Clinton, Masonic Lodge 84 AF & AM, American Legion Crang & Bennett Post 103 and VFW Post 4168, all of Clinton. Eldon served in the
Army during World War II. Eldon was previously co-owner for 33 years with Wilson-Reeves Chrysler Plymouth Dealership, Clinton. He married Irene Fried on May 12, 1946, in Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Patricia (Larry) Allison of Clinton; son, Lt. Col. David R. Reeves of Leander, Texas; brothers, Joe Reeves and Don Reeves, both of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Gifford
DECATUR -- Pvt. Jonathan Lee Gifford, 30, of Decatur passed away March 23, 2003, while serving his country in Iraq.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Maranatha Assembly of God with visitation 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with full military rites. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Jonathan was born Oct. 30, 1972, in Decatur, the son of John and Vicky Godfrey Gifford. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1991. He worked for Archer Daniels Midland Co. before enlisting in the Marine Corps on Oct. 23, 2001.
Surviving are his daughter, Lexie LeeAnn Gifford; former wife, Vickey; father, John Gifford and wife Carol of Decatur; mother, Vicky Langley and husband Tim of Decatur; sisters, Valerie Gifford and Tiffany Blastenbrei and husband, Marine Staff Sgt. Todd Blastenbrei, all of Decatur; nephew, Mason Gifford of Decatur; grandparents, Ronald and Peggy Gifford and William and Reva Godfrey Jr., all of Decatur; many other family members who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Gould, and sister, Jennifer.
Jividen
DECATUR -- Ila M. Jividen, 82, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died Thursday (April 17, 2003) in Lake Placid Health Care Center, Lake Placid, Fla.
There will be no services. Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jividen was born in Yale, moving to Sebring in 1991 from Decatur. She was retired from Illinois Bell as a wire chief clerk. She was a member of Buttonwood Bay Community Church in Sebring.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Wabel and Kay (Fred) Rice, all of Decatur; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen W. Jividen, on March 28, 2003.
Mattingly
DECATUR -- Beatrice Helen Pate Mattingly, 80, of Decatur passed away Thursday (April 17, 2003) in her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials: DMH Home Health & Hospice Services or American Cancer Society.
Helen was born April 16, 1923, in Boody, the daughter of Benjamin Hardie and Margaret Irene Kennedy Pate. She retired from the Sunshine Dairy and managed the Quick-Way Dairy Store on Faries Parkway until 1987. She was a lifelong resident of Macon County. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, bingo at the AIW hall and spending time with her family. She was loved by all. She married Percy "Ted" Mattingly on Jan. 29, 1943. He passed away Feb. 28, 1981.
Surviving are her children, Barbara Rodgers of Plainfield; Beverly (Dale) Smith of Mansfield, Texas; Brenda (Riki) Dial of Decatur; Ted Mattingly of Decatur; Becky Aubert of Decatur; Theresa (Ed) Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Doug Rodgers, Dennis Rodgers, Christie Bell, Sherry Gardner, Rick Dial, Shannon Stewart, Jackie Garrison, Ted Mattingly Jr., Samantha Mattingly, Bill Aubert Jr., Dejah Benz, Dustin Benz and Derek Cravens; 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Crystal Aubert; two brothers and two sisters.
Challans
DECATUR -- Margaret Sue Challans, 50, of Decatur died 9:47 p.m. Wednesday (April 16, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Challans was born June 19, 1952, in Lincoln, the daughter of Robert and Betty Utterback Jackson. She was a desk clerk and night auditor for Days Inn. She was affiliated with Maranatha Assembly of God Church. She married Edgar W. Challans Jr. on May 12, 2000.
Surviving are her husband; parents of Mount Pulaski; grandmother, Margaret Utterback of Mount Pulaski; son, Walter Sablotny III and wife Stephanie of Lincoln; daughter, Betty Pickett and husband Leslie of Decatur; sisters, Jane Morris and husband Randy of Beason; Doris Helton and husband Byron of Atlanta; grandchildren; Christian Kirk, Jaxica Pickett, Taerynn Sablotny, Bobbi Green and Samantha Green.
Kupish
DECATUR -- William E. Kupish Sr., 83, of Decatur died 3 a.m. Holy Saturday (April 19, 2003) in his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Revs. Donald Wolford and James O'Shea concelebrating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with 5:45 p.m. vigil prayer service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery

Bill was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Decatur, the son of Max and Marie Quinn Kupish. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 33 years. He served in the
Army during World War II in the 39th Combat Engineers Division. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion Castle Williams Post 105, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and National Rural Association of Letter Carriers. He was secretary of the Postal Employees Credit Union for several years and head of the U.S. Postal Bowling League. He married Dorothy Shea on Nov. 16, 1946, in Springfield.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Joseph (Susan) Kupish of Lake Oswego, Ore.; Chris Kupish of Mount Zion; James Kupish and John Kupish, both of Decatur; David (Debbie) Kupish of Olathe, Kan.; daughters, Marie (James) Luedke of Sullivan; Rita (Chris) Standerfer of Gilbert, Ariz.; Dorothy (Larry) Stark of Greensburg, Ind.; Lucy DelSarto of Olathe; grandchildren, Dawn, Mike, Josh, Nathaniel, Preston, Spencer, Matthew, Quinn, Kelsey and Shea; great-grandchild, Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William Edward Kupish Jr. and grandson, Will Luedke.
