DECATUR - Colleen Wintersteen Powers, 50, of Sierra Madre, Calif., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003) in her home.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Arcadia, Calif. Memorials: Our Savior Lutheran Church or City of Hope, Duarte, Calif.
Colleen was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Canton, and grew up in Decatur, where she graduated from St. James Grade School and Eisenhower High School. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Illinois University and a master's degree from Cal State Northridge. Colleen taught kindergarten for a number of years and was a professor for Citrus College during her illness. A devoted mother, Colleen actively volunteered in church, the Girl Scouts, Sierra Madre Elementary School, Sierra Madre Dolphins Swim Team and her children's sports teams. She married Michael Powers on Aug. 29, 1987, and resided in Sierra Madre since.
Surviving are her husband; children, Allison and Andrew; parents, Carroll and Phyllis Wintersteen of Decatur; seven brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews.
Colleen will be remembered for her faith and love of family and friends, sense of humor and zest for life, traveling and camping.
Ash
NIANTIC -- Wilma R. Ash, 85, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Niantic, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003).
Private family services will be at a later date. French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, Albuquerque, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Niantic Christian Church.
Mrs. Ash was born Dec. 15, 1917, in Niantic, the daughter of William and Clara Hall Moore. She retired from Sandia National Labs and was a member of the Shriners Honored Ladies and Women's International Bowling Conference. She married Joe Ash. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2000.
Surviving are her daughter, Gayle Harrington of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Iris Moore of Niantic; nephew, Craig Moore of Niantic; nieces, Donna Myers of Hixon, Tenn.; Dawn Eckhart of Katy, Texas; several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lucy Bruce; and brother, Charles D. Moore.
Charles Rhodes dies at 100
DECATUR -- Charles Leo Rhodes, 100, of Carlinville, father of Wayne Rhodes of Decatur, died 8:20 p.m. Friday (March 21, 2003) in Heritage Manor.
Funeral Mass will be 7 p.m. Monday in Sister Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, with the Rev. Dean Probst officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until services in the church with 6 p.m. Elks ritual. Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: New Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes was born June 5, 1902, in Carlinville, the son of Joseph Martin and Martina Regli Rhodes. He retired in 1980 as a grain and livestock farmer in the Carlinville area. He married Genevieve Magdalen Schaefer on Jan. 28, 1925, in St. Joseph Church, Carlinville. She preceded him in death January 1991.
Surviving are his children, Audrey (Robert) Kates and Loren (Rosemarie) Rhodes, all of Carlinville; Dale (Marilyn) Rhodes of Gillespie; Emmett (Pat) Rhodes of Bull Head, Ariz.; Wayne Rhodes of Decatur; sister, Josephine Klein of Staunton; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Kathleen Harms; sisters, Teresa Little, Julia Dunn, Marie Meredith and Clara Behme; brother, William Rhodes; and one granddaughter.

NEWMAN -- Robert D. Harbaugh, 74, of Danville died 5:50 a.m. Saturday (March 22, 2003) in his home.

Mr. Harbaugh was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Newman, the son of Lewis and Nelle McGinnis Harbaugh. He was a member of Danville Mason and 32 degree mason and member of Danville Moose Lodge 1001 and Turtle Club, Danville. He was employed by General Motors in Tilton for 33 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed baseball and coached baseball in Danville for many years. He was a die-hard Cubs fan. He married Betty Sams on April 20, 1948, in Newman. She preceded him in death in 1991.
Surviving are his sons, Rob (Jeannie) Harbaugh of Sidell; Mike (Lora) Harbaugh of Danville; daughter, Deb Winn of Danville; brothers, Wallace Harbaugh of Brentwood, Calif.; Virgil Harbaugh of Tuscola; Guy Harbaugh of Newman; Max Harbaugh of Summerfield, Fla.; sister, Geraldine Dague of Newman; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother.

Ms. Stout was born Oct. 10, 1941, in Moweaqua, the daughter of Otis and Mildred Cutler Baker. She was formerly employed by Holiday Inn in Decatur and Springfield, as well as the Mother House of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, Springfield.
Surviving are her brothers, Lawrence (Sandy) Baker of Decatur; Dale Baker of Mississippi; sisters, Beverly Tague of Florida; Judy (Sherrill) Burgess and Sandra Beals, all of Decatur; Violet (Marvin) Haywood of Effingham; Becky Lesemann of Mississippi; five nieces; three nephews.
