Ballinger
DECATUR -- Evelyn L. Goodwin Ballinger, 80, of Decatur died 3:48 a.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Memorials: Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
Evelyn was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Clyde and Evelyn Hill Goodwin. She previously worked at Home Manufacturing on Eldorado Street, SS Kresge's and General Electric. She was a great cook and especially known for her pies. She also enjoyed gardening. She married John L. Ballinger Sr. in 1946 in Decatur. He preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2001.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis D. Ballinger Sr. and wife Cathy of Decatur; John L. Ballinger Jr. and wife Wendie of Oreana; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mark Ballinger; Dennis Ballinger Jr. and fiancee Jennifer Stubblefield; Mike Ballinger and wife Molly; brothers, Leslie, Russell and Wayne Goodwin, all of Mount Zion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mary Bartello; infant brother, Billy.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Harford
DECATUR -- Duane Louis Harford, 79, of Decatur died 10 a.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery
with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: donor's choice.
Duane was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Jones County, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Harvey Lowe and Hazel Ardella Martin Harford. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 65 for 55 years and BPOE 401. He retired from T.A. Brinkoetter and Sons as an estimator and currently worked part time at Lakeside Motors. He was appointed as a cemetery trustee for Long Creek Township in 1991 and served until his death. The Morse and Barnett Additions were added during this period to the township cemeteries. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1940-41, joined the
Army before Pearl Harbor, 1941, and served as a tank driver in the 706 Tank Battalion, 77 Division, in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in December 1945. He moved to Decatur in 1946. He married Betty Lou Provin of Decatur on Nov. 17, 1946. They made their home in Decatur, Long Creek Township, ever since.
Surviving are his wife; son, Kevin Harford and wife Linda of Decatur; daughter, Terri Goodman and husband Barry of Decatur; grandson, Tory Allen Goodman of Decatur; stepgranddaughters, Kristen Goodman and Lora Fletcher; sisters, Winnoa Dierks of Monticello, Iowa; Wilma McNeilly of Lake Forest, Calif.; Carol Ann Hansen of New Brighton, Minn.; Sandra Spahr of Monticello, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rollo D.; and sisters, Wanda Hodges and Pearl Dabbs.
Houseworth
DECATUR -- Henry H. Houseworth, 95, Decatur, retired electrician, died Thursday (March 20, 2003).

Jarrett
DECATUR -- Roscoe Jarrett Jr., 57, of Decatur died 10 p.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in his home.
Services will be noon Tuesday in Church of Living God Temple 4, with Overseer E.F. Gray officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Service and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jarrett was born July 24, 1945, in Brownsville, Tenn., the son of Roscoe Jarrett Sr. and Willie Lou Jarrett. He attended Richland Community College.
Surviving are his sons, Cortez Jarrett of Chicago; Darnell Jarrett of Springfield; Henry and Marcus Clark, both of Decatur; daughters, Gwendolyn and LaPortia Clark and Natasha Brown, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Christina, Moses and Breana Clark of Decatur; siblings, E. Jean Jarrett of St. Louis; Selena Dabner, Eddie C. Jarrett and Arnetta Denman, all of Decatur; brothers-in-law, Leonard Dabner of Decatur; Mack Denman of Peru, Ind.; nieces and nephews, Byron C. Hood of Sacramento, Calif.; Melissa D. (Tyrone) Baker of Bronx, N.Y.; Dawn F. Jarrett of Urbana; Eric L. Dabner of Decatur; Juan M. Jarrett and Quintin C. Jarrett, both of Sacramento.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Ora Lee Jarrett.
McGuire
MAROA -- Charlotte Hursh McGuire, 89, of Maroa died 8:40 p.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, with Pastor Bruce Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorials: Alzheimer's Association or Maroa Public Library.
Mrs. McGuire was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Cole "Happy" Hursh and Ruth Faith. She attended Maroa United Methodist Church. She was a retired schoolteacher, with 31 years of service in Macon County. She was a graduate of University of Illinois. She married William Alfred McGuire on Sept. 14, 1940, in Maroa. He preceded her in death June 13, 1997.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Haruo) Kusama of St. Louis, Mo.; Melanie McGuire of Amarillo, Texas; son, Bill (Carol) McGuire of Maroa; grandchildren, Karyn Kusama, Kristen Kusama, Allen McGuire and Maren McGuire; nephew, Dan Hursh of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Kusama; one brother and one sister.
Schowalter
DECATUR -- Robert J. Scho-walter, 75, of Decatur died 4:30 p.m. Thursday (March 20, 2003).
Mr. Schowalter was born April 20, 1927, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Ralph A. and Clara Klepfer Schowalter. In 1992, he retired as director of the Decatur Airport. He married Janice Kiner on Jan. 16, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years; children, Mary Clair Roney and husband Lynn of Franklin, Tenn.; Michael Schowalter of Bethany; Joseph Schowalter and wife Victoria of Kearney, Mo.; grandchildren, Beth, Leslie and Kyle Roney; William and Thomas Schowalter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, F.W. Schowalter; and one brother in infancy.
An informal gathering of family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Main Hangar in Decatur Airport. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
Stevens
DECATUR -- Don Roger Stevens, 65, of Decatur died Friday (March 21, 2003) in Prairie Rose Healthcare Center, Pana.

Don was born July 14, 1937, in Decatur, the son of William Henry and Laura Dodds Stevens. He was a carpenter for Local Union 742 and a

Army veteran.
Surviving are his son, Don Stevens and wife Kattie of Decatur; daughter, Kelly Stevens of Jefferson City, Mo.; sisters, Betty Kettering of Grand Terrace, Calif.; Linda Schmeling of Mount Zion; grandchildren, Nichole Francisco, Torey Stevens and Kaitlynn Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Timmons
NIANTIC -- Lavena E. "Lovey" Timmons, 85, of Niantic died 4:58 p.m. Friday (March 21, 2003) in her home.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Long Point Cemetery, Niantic. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Heart Association.
Mrs. Timmons was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Decatur, the daughter of William Henry and Grace Keith Witts. She married Wayne L. Timmons on April 7, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. He preceded her in death April 19, 1975.
Surviving are her sons, Tony K. Timmons of Niantic; Joel W. Timmons, J. Douglas Timmons and D. Michael Timmons and wife Wanda, all of Warrensburg; daughters, Nancy A. Timmons, Linda J. Timmons, and Sandra J. Lyon and husband Tyler, all of Niantic; sisters, Marva Moore and husband Joseph and Ethel Glass, all of Niantic; grandchildren, James Timmons, Christina Wilson, Angela Chumbley, Lindsay Lyon, Michael Timmons, Ryan Timmons, Travis Timmons, Matthew Timmons, Justin Lyon, Megan Timmons and Garrett Timmons; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Rebecca Chumbley and Kalob Timmons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, one daughter, four brothers and six sisters.
Lovey was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
