Dorothy was born Feb. 6, 1912, in Bushton, the daughter of Howard and Grace A. Rankin Taylor. She was a retired bakery owner in Villa Grove. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bethany, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Bethany.
She is survived by her son, Jack R. Dempsey of Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Doris J. Wheeler, Bethany; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Durbin
TAYLORVILLE -- Freeda L. Durbin, 85, of Taylorville died 5:20 p.m. Saturday (March 8, 2003) in Taylorville Care Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sutton Memorial Home Chapel, Taylorville, with the Rev. Chad Foster officiating. Visitation was Monday. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ramsey.
Mrs. Durbin was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Ramsey, the daughter of Calvin and Cassandra Burris Lippert. She was a retired baker from Jubelt's Bakery and My Store, and she did baby-sitting in later years. She married Edward Lawrence Durbin in June 1936 in Ramsey. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1995.
Surviving are her sons, Raymond E. Durbin and wife Marjorie of Decatur; Larry D. Durbin of Taylorville; Darrell L. Durbin and wife Deborah of Edinburg; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Irma Warner of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son in infancy, Ronald Durbin; grandson, Clay Durbin; sister, Roxanne Rhodes.
