Walsh

BEMENT -- Michael J. "Mike" Walsh, 51, of Bement died 9:12 a.m. Tuesday (March 4, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael s Catholic Church, Bement, with the Rev. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bement High School Gymnasium. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ivesdale, with military rites by Albert Parker American Legion Post 620, Bement. Memorials: St. Michael s Catholic Church, Bement, Bement Athletic Boosters Association or Hope Lodge 1795 W. 86th St., Indianapolis, In 46260.

Mr. Walsh was born Oct. 16, 1951, in Urbana, the son of Raphael E. "Ray" and Patricia Ann "Patty" Loftus Walsh. He was a farmer. He was a member, usher and trustee of St. Michael's Catholic Church, active in Bement Athletic Boosters, past president of Bement School Board, Lake Fork Ditch Community, assistant Bement High School girl s basketball coach, as well as coach of various little league, pony league and major league baseball teams. He also coached girl's softball and was past president of Bement Grain Co., Illinois Farm Bureau and the Illinois National Guard. He recieved the Bement High School Volunteer Award on May 16, 2002, for his many hours of volunteer work within the school. He married Gloria A. GloAnn Hendrix on April 11, 1970 in Bement.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Tim (Jeanniene) Walsh of Effingham; Kevin Michael Walsh of Bement; daughter, Julie Walsh of Bement; grandchildren, Makayla, Christian and Kennan; mother, Patricia Ann "Patty" Walsh of Bement; brothers, Chuck, Tom and Steve Walsh, all of Bement; sisters, Sue Walsh and Dianne Walsh, both of Bement; Carol Bates and Janet Jennings, both of Ivesdale; Ellen Barrett of Monticello.

He was preceded by his father and one sister.

Fogler

VANDALIA -- Karen "Sue" Fogler, 56, Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Vandalia, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) in Chandler Regional Hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter. Visitation will be two hours before services in the church. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials: American Cancer Society or donor s choice.

Mrs. Fogler was born Jan. 29, 1947, in Vandalia, the daughter of Vernon and Alma Runge Meyer. She formerly worked as an administrative assistant to Arizona State Universitys Department of Information and Management in Technology. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Chandler. She married LaVerne Fogler on July 11, 1970 in St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband; parents of St. Peter; brothers, Bob and Marty Meyer, both of St. Peter; Randy and wife Vicky Meyer of Macon; sisters, Peggy and husband Bruce Bowen of Vandalia; in-laws, Victor and Lorna Fogler Hollman of Farina; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and one niece.

Adams

DECATUR -- Dorothy Jane Adams, Clermont, Fla., formerly of Decatur, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

Atherton

DECATUR -- Robert Atherton, 80, of Decatur passed away 9:25 a.m. Thursday (March 6, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, with visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorials: American Lung Association.

Mr. Atherton was born April 4, 1922, in Leigh, Lancashire, England, the son of Joseph and Grace Statham Atherton. He graduated from Decatur High School and attended Millikin University. He retired from Decatur Public Schools as a maintenance engineer. He served his country in the Army Air Force in World War II. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the Decatur and Macon County Racing Pigeon Club. Through the years, Robert had many hobbies and interests, including bowling, hunting and he was an avid fisherman. He married Catherine M. Cuppett on April 8, 1944, in Lexington, S.C.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years; son, Robert A. Atherton of North Carolina; daughters, Carol Sue Wagner and husband Chuck and JoAnn Schrader and husband Kenneth, both of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Lila of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Benge

MACON -- Lois Benge, 83, Macon, died Friday (March 7, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon.

Carnahan

DECATUR -- Sabrena Carnahan, infant daughter of Cheryl A. Whitaker of Decatur, passed away 12:10 a.m. Tuesday (March 4, 2003) just a few moments after her birth in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery s Garden of Angels. There will be no visiation. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are her mother and sister, Selina Wikoff.

Sabrena will be buried next to her brother, Joshua Carnahan.

Coffman

DECATUR -- Shiela D. Coffman, 91, Decatur, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home.

Coins

DECATUR -- Sophronia M. Coins, 89, Decatur, formerly of Stonington, died Thursday (March 6, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes. Burial: Monday, Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton. Memorials: St. Jude Children s Hospital.

Coombe

MACON -- Richard L. Coombe, 65, Macon, died Thursday (March 6, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon.

Dale

DECATUR -- Alan Arthur Dale, 84, of Decatur went to be with his Heavenly Father 1:15 p.m. Thursday (March 6, 2003) in his home.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. James Montgomery officiating. Alan has donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. Memorials: First Presbyterian Church, General Fund.

Alan was born in Greenwood, Neb., the son of John F. and Georgia M. Fels Dale. He has lived in Granite City, Homeville, Va., and Clare, Mich., living most of his life in Decatur, where he was a self-employed carpenter/contractor. He built and remodeled many homes in the Decatur area. He also worked out of Carpenter s Local 742. In the 40s, he worked in the engine shop at Caterpillar. When in Michigan, he was a project manager for a recreational land development company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He married Juanita L. Shepherd on May 14, 1960, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; children, Carol A. (Mark) Plaia of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Michael P. (Susan) Dale of Glen Carbon; Stephen M. Dale of Collinsville; Jenna L. Sansone of Burlington, Iowa; Joyce A. (Ken McNeve) Hilyard of Peoria; Jeffrey M. (Denise) Dale of Clarksville, Md.; Lynn A. (Laurie) Dale of Decatur; grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephanie (Jeremy), Daniel, Ryan, Aric, Justin, Madeleine, Leslie and Lukas; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Richie.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude M. Marlow; mother, father, one brother and a grandson, Richard Alan Dale.

Alan will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will always be remembered for his kindness and pleasant manner.

Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, Kola, Khan and Potts, and to St. Johns Home Health Care & Hospice nursing staff for their special care. Many thanks to the First Presbyterian Church family, neighbors and friends for their care and support.

Dickey

DECATUR -- Willis Leon Dickey Sr., 68, Decatur, died Friday (March 7, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service Inc.

Hullinger

DECATUR -- Janet Lee Hullinger, 63, of Decatur died 5:45 a.m. Friday (March 7, 2003) in her home, with her family by her side.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Christian Church.

Janet was born July 6, 1939, in Boody, the daughter of Fay and Opal Jourdon Boggs. She served as secretary at MacArthur High School from 1957 to 1961. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a lifetime member of the President s Council of the University of Illinois, an avid sports fan of the Chicago Bears and the Illini. She married Gene Hullinger on June 26, 1960, in Decatur.

Surviving are her husband; sons, Jeffery Lee Hullinger of Tampa, Fla.; Kurtis Hullinger and wife Lane of Lincoln; grandchildren, Nolan, Mia and Landon Hullinger of Lincoln; sister, Rea Virt and husband Carrol of Blue Mound; sister-in-law, Marjorie Boggs of Decatur; brothers-in-law, Jasper Hullinger and wife Joyce of Oreana; Golden Hullinger and wife June of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Pearl Noble of California; Mary Paxton of Decatur; Harriett Daniels and husband Jerry of Alaska; 28 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mel Boggs; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Jane Hullinger.

The family would like to thank five special angels, Bev and John Buzan, Diana Ritter, and Charles and Ginny McGee.

Ingram

DECATUR -- Mark William Ingram, 20, of Decatur died 10 p.m. Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Decatur Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit, Central Illinois Branch of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or Richland Community College.

Mr. Ingram was born July 5, 1982, in Decatur, the son of Ronald Keith and Sue Ann Ingram. He was a student at Richland Community College, an Eagle Scout and an assistant scout master of Boy Scout Troop 5, Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mark was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his parents; brothers, Ronald K. (Laura) Ingram III of Decatur; Matthew D. (MaryKate) Ingram of Mount Zion; sister, Dana (Jason) Kretsinger; nine nephews and nieces; grandmothers, Iris Burns of Millington, Mich. and Olga Gordon of Portland, Mich.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Decatur Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit and the intensive care unit for their uplifting care during Mark's illness.

McCoy

DECATUR -- Leo Dale McCoy, 71, of Decatur departed this life at 5:05 p.m. Thursday (March 6, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Memorials: donor s choice.

Mr. McCoy was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Middlesworth, the son of Ester Earl McCoy and Flora Ester Collins McCoy. He retired, after 30 years, from Perfect Window Cleaners. After retirement, he worked for the Herald & Review until his passing. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Annetta Mae Durbin on Sept. 17, 1955.

He leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories, his wife; daughters, Patricia Louise Groves and husband Curtis, Mary Alice Sam Iverson and Virginia Kay Crum and husband Chuck, all of Decatur; sons, Steve McCoy and wife Rebecca of Maroa; Joe McCoy of Decatur; sister, Sarah Kornewald of Decatur; grandchildren, Billy Warren, Jason Warren, Cortney McCoy, Dallas York, Sam York, Cole Grove, Darren McCoy, Mandy McCoy, Cassie McCoy and Colten Crum; great-granddaughters, Cheyanne Warren and Maekayla McCoy; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Dean.

Oxley

WARRENSBURG -- Harriett Lelia Oxley, 84, of Warrensburg died 3:37 p.m. Thursday (March 6, 2003) in Lincoln Manor.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before services. Memorials: Crones Foundation.

Mrs. Oxley was born June 24, 1918, in Macon County, the daughter of John Marshall and Adelaide Gilman Marshall. She was a teller and supervisor for 43 years at Millikin National Bank. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and AARP. She married Jack Oxley in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1969.

Surviving are her sister, Marian Oliver of Harristown; brother, Eugene Marshall and wife Shirley of Warrensburg; nieces, Gloria Reece and husband Tom of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Patricia Slenn and husband Walter of St. Charles; Nancy Boland and husband Charles of Oakley; Sheila Patterson and husband Ronald of Niantic; Betsy Reinstorf and husband James of Harristown.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Parenti

DECATUR -- Peter Parenti, 90, Decatur, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003).

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Monday, Saint Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery, Chicago. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, with 5 p.m. liturgy service. Memorials: Our Lady of Lourdes School.

Pryczynski

DECATUR -- Pearl Pryczynski, 71, Decatur, waitress, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003).

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, People Church of God. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials: donor s choice.
