Member: St. Mary's Catholic Church and United Mine Workers of America Local 9819. Survivors: wife, C. Marie; son, Theodore J. Langlet, Volcano, Calif.; daughter, Janet M. ROBINSON -- The Rev. Kenneth W. McDaniel, 93, Robinson, formerly of Decatur, died Monday (Feb. 24, 2003).

OLNEY -- Luella Elizabeth Zuber, 75, Olney, died Monday (Feb. 24, 2003).

WARRENSBURG -- Mary Helen Brubeck, 79, Warrensburg, died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Doolen

DECATUR -- Lora B. Doolen, 95, of Decatur died 4:35 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003) in Lincoln Manor.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation 9:30 a.m. until services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Mrs. Doolen was born April 15, 1907, in Shelby County, the daughter of William and Clara Alice Thomas Bridgman. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Methodist church. She married John Dale Doolen on Sept. 16, 1933, in Decatur. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1967.

Surviving are her son, Richard Doolen of Chicago; daughter, Nancy Lancaster of Ypsilanti, Mich.; grandchildren, Kim Belloli, Pam Lancaster, Kevin Lancaster, Paula Williams and Kerry Lancaster; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters.

Garriott

DECATUR -- Dr. Christopher Troy Garriott, 87, Front Royal, Va., formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal. Burial: Panorama Memorial Gardens, Front Royal.

Survivors: sons, Max Christopher Garriott, Jackson, Miss.; Theodore Eugene Garriott of Phoenix, Ore.; Daniel Walter Garriott, Front Royal; one grandson.

Kunski

DECATUR -- Joyce E. Phillips Kunski, 64, Decatur, died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes.

Springfield

DECATUR -- Sis Crettie Mae Springfield, 89, Brownsville, Tenn., died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) in her home after a beautiful, faithful, full and rich Christian life.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Brownsville. Wake will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Rawls Funeral Home, Brownsville.

Sis Springfield was born March 18, 1913, in Haywood County, Tenn., to the late Jessie and Hannah Bond. At an early age, she took Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Willow Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as long as her health permitted. Her services included mother board member and the president of usher board for many years. She was supportive to all religious activities and always willing to do whatever she could to magnify the Lord. She will be missed in our church and the community. Sis Springfield united in holy matrimony with Brown Springfield, to this union 12 children were born.

She leaves to cherish memories of her, her daughters, Lydia Short of Columbus, Ohio; Jean (Joe) Fuller of Decatur; Marie (Buel) Cole of Decatur; Crettie Mae Springfield II of Brownsville; sons, James Edward (Annie R.) Springfield, Jessie T. (Clara) Springfield, Brown (Gardenell) Springfield Jr. and Joe Nathan (Joyce) Springfield, all of Brownsville; Calvin Springfield of Alexandria, Va.; sisters, Leora Waller of Peoria; Pearline Jones of Brownsville; Terri Durand of Northridge, Calif.; brother, Benjamin Bond of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her children, Annie Mildren, Jim Springfield and Hannah Forrest.

Voorhees

DECATUR -- Mary May "Marty" Voorhees, 58, Decatur, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home.

Schmidt

DECATUR -- Kathleen Folrath Schmidt, 57, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Decatur, died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003).

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday in United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Body will be cremated. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to LifePointe Church, Box 26767, Overland Park, KS 66225, or Kansas City Hospice, 1625 W. 92nd St., Kansas City, MO 64114.

Kathy was born Oct. 28, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo. She spent her childhood in Decatur, where she graduated from MacArthur High School. After high school, she went to the University of Missouri, graduating in 1967. While at Missouri, Kathy was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Kathy continued her educational pursuits by attending Lesley University. She graduated in 1995 with a master's degree. Kathy was an elementary art teacher in the Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley School districts. She was an active member of the LifePointe Church in Overland Park. She married Ralph Schmidt on Aug. 3, 1969.

Surviving are her husband; daughter Erika of Tulsa, Okla.; son, Ryan of the home; mother, Marie McDermott of Decatur; sisters, Patricia Drake of Leawood, Kan.; Anne Gerhart of Overland Park.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Davis B. Folrath.

Kathy was born again in April 1976 and felt her calling in life was to bring others to the same experience. There were many lives that were touched by her ministry and compassion. She always wanted God's Best and now she has it. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, friend, teacher and saint. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Roy

DECATUR -- Charlene S. Roy, 66, of Dandridge, Tenn., died Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003).

Graveside services: 10 a.m. Friday, Dandridge Memorial Garden. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday, Evergreen Presbyterian Church, Sevierville, Tenn. Arrangements by: Fielden Funeral Home, New Market, Tenn.

Member: Evergreen Presbyterian Church. Survivors: husband, William; daughters, Julie Barr, Decatur; Jodi Lynn Roy, Fargo, N.D. Preceded by: parents.

Williams

DECATUR -- Georgia Williams, 79, of Rockwall, Texas, formerly of Decatur, passed away peacefully in her sleep 4:45 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003).

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Alzheimer's Association.

Georgia was born April 28, 1923, in Decatur, the daughter of Charles and Lulu Brown Eagleton. She was an expert seamstress, loved to yodel, sing and play the harmonica, guitar and banjo. She was very fun loving. Until her move to Texas, she was an active member of Sunnyside Church of Christ. She married Jasper Williams on July 26, 1941, in Decatur.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years; daughter, Jackie Wiley of Rowlett, Texas; sons, Richard Williams of Rochester, Minn.; Larry Williams of McMinnville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Powell

DECATUR -- Hester Lee Powell, 62, Decatur, died Feb. 21, 2003.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Church of the Living God PGT Temple 3. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. Burial: Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Arrangements by: Walker Funeral Service and Chapel.

Gray

SHELBYVILLE -- Bernice M. Gray, 88, of Shelbyville died 6:50 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003) in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Dr. Paul C. Pryor and the Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials: First Christian Church of Shelbyville or Windsor Christian Church.

Mrs. Gray was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Lawrence County, near Billett, the daughter of Lawrence Melvin "L.M." and Stella Miley Weedon. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, Order of the Eastern Star Shelbyville Chapter 69 and was a volunteer for Shelby Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She married George Benjamin Gray on July 16, 1938, in Petersburg, Ind. He died Dec. 9, 1998.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Garner and husband Andy of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Neil Oliver and wife Kari of Nashotah, Wis.; Christopher Oliver and wife Izabela of Marshfield, Wis.; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Haley and Jessica Oliver; three step-grandchildren; nine great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; two brothers, Melvin C. Weedon and Arthur Weedon; two sisters, Beulah May Bline and Mary Edith Smith.

Fritchie

PALESTINE -- Walter T. Fritchie Sr., 80, Palestine, Case Pottery employee, died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and until services Sunday. Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery.

EFFINGHAM -- Frederick A. "Fred" Burkland, 75, Effingham, retired Burkland's Greenhouses owner/manager, died Wednesday (Feb. 26, 2003).
