Mr. Ealey was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Mechanicsburg, the son of Budd Irvin and Laura Marie Powers Ealey. He was a member of the Christian faith. He retired in 1980 from DeKalb Seed Co. in Illiopolis and served in World War II in the 501 Parachute Infantry (
Army), receiving two bronze Battle Stars, Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster and bronze Star medal.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen Ealey of Cerro Gordo; daughter, Linda (Max) Born of Cerro Gordo; sons, Gary (Jamie) Ealey of Decatur; Steven (Terry) Ealey of Hopkinsville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Lou Belle Prior of Taylorville; brother, Homer Ealey of Mount Auburn; sisters, Geraldine Stuart of Taylorville; Maxine (Frank) Bramel of Mount Auburn; Lucille (Roger) Dickerson of Mount Auburn; several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Decatur, the son of Thomas and Laura Irene Bear McDaniel. He was a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Robinson. He retired after serving more than 60 years in the ministry as a Southern Baptist minister. He married Mildred Ray on March 26, 1926. She preceded him in death in 1978. He later married Ruth Cooprider on Nov. 18, 1980, in Decatur. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his son, the Rev. Gerald and wife June McDaniel of Robinson; daughter, Beverly Collier of Yorkville; grandchildren, Karen Sue Calvert; Nancy Kay Tettemer; Brenda Eaton Dwight; David McDaniel; sisters, Eloise Jones and Margory Cooley, both of Decatur; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Irene was born May 18, 1906, in Moweaqua, the daughter of John D. and Minnie Matthew Goodwin. She was a housewife and member of Shelby County Home Extension and First Christian Church. She married Dudley Wood in 1963, in Moweaqua. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Surviving are her dear friends, Juanita Bunning, Donna Casleton, Don and Susan Henry and Arnetta Neimuth, all of Moweaqua; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

DECATUR -- Hester Lee Powell, 62, of Decatur died Friday (Feb. 21, 2003) in her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Church of the Living God PGT Temple 3, with the Rev. Thomas Jeffro officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Hester Lee Powell was born to the late Mr. George Finley and Mrs. Bertha Guyton of Bolivar County, Gunnison, Miss. "Lil Hester," as she was affectionately called, joined the family of God through Jesus Christ, and was united with Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church, Gunnison, at the age of 13 years, under the Rev. J.W. Wyms. She was a longtime devoted and faithful servant of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, under the Rev. Thomas W. Jeffro, where she served as public relations coordinator and worked in the church kitchen, preparing food for others at church functions until her earthly life ended. "Lil Hester" attended the following schools of higher learning: Perthshire Elementary and Gunnison High School. Her life centered around her family, friends and loved ones. She always called on her relatives far and near to see about their well-being. At a drop of a hat, she would be on the bus or train to travel from Decatur to wherever you were and stay until you were better. If you were hungry, she would cook you some of her famous chicken and dressing and delicious caramel cake. She always kept a superbly clean house, because if you needed a place to stay, you were always welcome there. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and eating fish. Her favorite pastimes were reading the newspaper and watching her favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals, as well as walking three to six miles a day. She also enjoyed some good down-home blues."Lil Hester" married Alfredie Powell on Nov. 30, 1964. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are daughters, Felicia A. (Tyrone) Newman of Jackson, Miss.; Demika R. Powell of Indianapolis, Ind.; sons, Glenn E. (Kimberly) Powell of Decatur; Gregory Powell and Derrick D. Powell, both of Indianapolis; siblings, J.D. Finley and Dorthy Jones, both of Decatur; Levi (Sally Mae) Williams of Winterville, Miss.; Katie (Tom) Howard of Maywood; Barbara Finley of Mound Bayou, Miss.; Bill Finley of Norcross, Ga.; D'Lynell Finley of Montgomery, Ala.; Gwendolyn Grayer of Dallas, Texas; special sister and friend, Lorean Williams and Barbara Beasly of Decatur; very special cousin, Alice Mae Booker of Greenville, Miss.; special friend of many years, Tommie Harris of Decatur; special sisters-in-law, Juanita Powell of Peoria; Losie Powell of St. Louis, Mo.; very special nephew, Cedric Powell of Peoria; godchildren, Kevin Williams and Diamond Woods-Beasly; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones, too many to name.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, parents and brother, George Finley Jr.
She leaves a personal legacy of love of God and family, hard work, loyalty and dedication to her family and friends.
