DECATUR -- Hershel Lyle Lenover, 69, of Decatur died Wednesday (Jan. 8, 2003) in his home.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery, with Pastor Ron Howerton officiating. J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hershel was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Decatur, the son of Paul Tillman and Lula Butler. He had worked as a security guard. He attended church at Maranatha Assembly of God.
Surviving are his brothers, Richard L. Lenover of Decatur; Virgil P. Lenover of Riverside, Calif.; sisters, Wanda (Winfield) Campbell and Elsie M. (Robert) Brown, all of Mira Loma, Calif.; Ruth Pyles of Decatur; several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Melvin Lenover and sister, Ruby Crisp.
Valla
DECATUR -- David B. Valla, 49, of Aurora died Wednesday (Jan. 8, 2003) in Boise, Idaho.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Aurora. Memorials in Mr. Valla's name may be made to the Thistle Class Sailing Association.
He was born Dec. 10, 1953, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He had been a resident of Aurora for the past 5 1/2 years. He was a former resident of Battle Creek, Mich., and Decatur. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and was very active in the alumni association at Virginia Tech. He was employed as a manager for ORACLE, and he had formerly worked for Dean Foods. In 1995, he served as president of the Thistle Class Sailing Association and most recently was serving on the board of directors as the regional vice president for the Great Lakes Region. He was a member of the U. S. Sailing Association. He was a strong promoter of sailing, especially for youth, and was a licensed private pilot and a member of the AOPA. He was an avid tennis player, loved woodworking and was an accomplished pianist and guitarist.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (nee Enloe) Valla of Aurora; daughters, Stacy and Kelly Valla, both of Naperville; Vanessa Pegram of Aurora; son, Ben Pegram of Aurora; grandmother, Anne Borkowski of Naperville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Dianne (nee Borkowski) Rodriguez.

DECATUR -- Doris Helen Chance, 83, of Arcola, formerly of Decatur, died Thursday (Jan. 9, 2003) in Arcola.
No services are planned at this time. Private burial will take place at a later date. J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Doris was born on Jan. 31, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Walter C. and Wanda E. Gross Warren. She worked as a seamstress for many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Charlotte May of Decatur; grandchildren, Quentin Smith, Gavin Smith and Chad Landers; great-grandchild, Shelbey Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

MOWEAQUA -- Kenneth William Rader, 81, of Moweaqua died 10:15 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 9, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, with the Rev. Charles K. Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Kenny was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Loami, a son of Homer and Allie Connor Rader. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years of service. He owned and operated Raders Sporting Goods in Moweaqua for 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 370, World War II
Army veteran and a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Surviving are his sons, Richard and wife Penne of Snoqualmie, Wash.; Robert and wife Sheila of Lovington; daughters, JoLynn Baldwin of Champaign; Linda Allen-Ogle of Taylorville; Rhonda and husband Kip Brooks of Decatur; Brenda Johnson and Candace Schinzler, both of Moweaqua; brothers, Ernst and wife Esther of Springfield; Walter of Brentwood, Mo.; sister, Norma Jean Murphy of Pensacola, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kenny was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

ARTHUR -- Golda Marie Miller, 90, of Brownstown, Ind., formerly of Arthur, died 10:20 a.m. Friday (Jan. 10, 2003) in Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Mrs. Miller was born July 24, 1912, in Arthur, a daughter of Albert C. and Julia Anna Graves Day. She was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church. She worked at Dottie's Fashions in Arthur for several years and was a receptionist for Drs. Messmore and Platzbecker Clinic in Arthur for several years. She married Leon F. Miller on Jan. 20, 1938, in Arcola. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1975.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Ann) Zabel of Brownstown; two granddaughters; sister, Irene Pennell of Arthur; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Augustine was born July 20, 1904, in Decatur, the daughter of Gottfried and Mary Roarick Hill. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was employed at the Macon County Abstract Office, Decatur. She married Arthur A. Augustine on June 17, 1931, in Decatur. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her brothers, Ed Hill and Clarence Hill, both of Decatur; nieces, Roberta Lind of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Guy (Carol) Weshinskey of Belleville; nephew, John Hill and wife Ellen of Algonquin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Robert and Henry.
