SHELBYVILLE -- M. Roberta Stewardson, 90, of Shelbyville died 8:37 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, with Dr. Bruce Owens officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials: First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Mrs. Stewardson was the fourth of six children born May 10, 1912, in Marshfield
, Mo., the daughter of D.R. and Ora Jinnette Swing. After attending Southwest Missouri State Teachers College, she graduated from Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo., in the Class of 1935. She worked as a nurse at Shelby Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was a loyal and active member of First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, in which she held several leadership positions through the years. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 69 of Shelbyville and Shelby County Home Extension. She spent her entire life doing good for others. She married Dale B. Stewardson on Sept. 29, 1935.
Surviving are her husband; sons, James D. Stewardson and wife Mary Lou of Brighton, Colo.; Jerry L. Stewardson and wife Ardith of Adrian, Mich.; brother, D. R. Swing Jr. of Utica, N.Y.; grandchildren, James B. Stewardson of Roslindale, Mass.; Roberta Sue
Stewardson of Lakewood, Colo.; Andrea Collins of Wyckoff, N.J.; Curtis Stewardson of Kansas City, Mo.; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

Alsup
LATHAM -- Marion D. Alsup, 88, of Latham died 7:45 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 30, 2003) in ManorCare Health Services.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery. Memorials: Warrensburg United Methodist Church.
Marion was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Scottsburg, Ind., the son of Loren and Allie Rayburg Alsup. He was a very active member in Harmony United Brethren Church for many years and he attended Warrensburg United Methodist Church. He farmed in Austin township all his life and was a member of Macon County Farm Bureau. He was road commissioner of Austin township for many years, board of directors for Latham Grain, director of the Latham Bank and served as first Lieutenant in the medical corps in the
Army during World War II. He married Virginia M. Rau on March 2, 1944, in Abilene, Texas.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Carol Myers of Warrensburg; sons, Harold Alsup and wife Patricia of Decatur; Allen Alsup and wife Pamela of Warrensburg; sister, Faye Spencer and husband Orville of Decatur; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

NEWTON -- Helen Margaret Edwards, 90, of Newton passed away 9:20 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) in Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.

Mrs. Edwards was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Ripley County, Mo., the daughter of Robert and Pearl Coulter Smith. She was retired from the Garment Factory. She married Earl Edwards on July 4, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1945.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Gene (Evelyn) Frye of Newton; Mrs. Harlow (Mary) Oyler of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Verneda Swann of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter, two brothers and five sisters.

ASSUMPTION -- David Evans, 47, of rural St. Elmo, formerly of Assumption, died 12:28 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 30, 2003) in St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham.

He was the son of Charles and Luella Rape Evans.

CLINTON -- Pearl L. Glenn, 75, of Clinton died 10:45 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) in Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

Mrs. Glenn was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Iowa, the daughter of Golda Chandler and Phyllis O Connel. She was a retired registered nurse. She was affiliated with United Methodist Church. She married Dean Glenn on Sept. 4, 1949, in Kenney.
Surviving are her husband; son, David Glenn (Becky) of Clinton; grandchildren, Aaron Glenn, Shae Glenn and Jessica Glenn; sister, Beverly Willoughby of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff; one brother.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and a dedicated grandmother.

Mr. McCord was born March 8, 1916, in Salinas, Kan., the son of William R. and Grace Comfort McCord. He graduated from Pittsfield High School. He worked at Panhandle Eastern Compression Station in Tuscola for 44 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 20th
Army Air Corp. He was a member of Atomic, Oil and Chemical Workers Union for over 30 years, a 50-year member of Arthur Masonic Lodge 825 and a past master, a member of Scottish Rite Danville Consistory, Arthur American Legion Post 479 and served as former post commander and member of Arthur Lions Club. He was also a member of Vine Street Christian Church. He served on the Arthur Public Library board and was a Brad-O-Clen trustee. He served as a democratic precinct committeeman for several years. He married Wilmah Brown on Oct. 24, 1937, in Missouri. She preceded him in death Feb. 2, 1997.
Surviving are his son, William R. McCord and wife Carolyn of East Peoria; daughter, Marilyn Adams and husband Robert of Hamden, Conn.; sister, Carmen of California.
