Meadows

KENNEY -- George Donald "Cobb" Meadows, 76, of Kenney died 7:05 p.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, with military rites. Memorials: Kenney Civic League or Kenney Heritage Association.

Mr. Meadows was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Kenney, the son of George Adelbert and Anise M. Woodward Meadows. He was a retired rural letter carrier in Kenney. Mr. Meadows was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart in France. He was affiliated with Kenney Christian Church and was a member of American Legion and VFW. He married Ruth Jones Rybolt Jan. 6, 1962, in Clinton.

Surviving are his wife; son, Roger Rybolt (Kathy) of Argenta; daughter, Dona Alexander (Dan) of Kenney; grandchildren, Bob Alexander (Michelle) of Clinton; Kristie Wall of Kenney; Rob Rybolt (Cybill) of Clinton; Rich Rybolt of Kenney; niece, Jean Gullian of North Carolina; four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.

Mitchell

DECATUR -- Max A. Mitchell, 92, Mount Pulaski, formerly of Decatur, died April 27, 2001.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Friday, Monticello Cemetery. No visitation. Arrangements by: Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Memorials: Salvation Army or Vonderleith Living Center.

LINCOLN -- James "Buck" Morecraft, 80, Lincoln, retired carpenter/contractor, died Saturday (May 12, 2001).

No services. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials: American Cancer Society or Visiting Nurse Association of Central Illinois, Hospice Care.

MATTOON -- Margaret Leona Sidsel Larsen Reed, 85, Mattoon, formerly of Sheffield, homemaker, died Saturday (May 12, 2001).

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Sheffield Cemetery. No visitation. Arrangements by: Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon.

MONTICELLO -- Richard L. Scott, 69, Monticello, self-employed, died Saturday (May 12, 2001). Member: Sunny Side Club of Bement and First Apostolic Assembly of Monticello. Survivors: brother, David P., Monticello; sister, Cathryn "Katie" Bentley, Bement. Preceded by: parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Private graveside services: Monday, Monticello Cemetery. No visitation. Arrangements by: Roux-Hinds Funeral Home, Bement. Memorials: donor's choice.

Taylor

CHARLESTON -- George Daniel Taylor Jr., 89, Charleston, formerly of Chicago, died Friday (May 11, 2001). Arrangements incomplete: Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston.

CLAY CITY -- Irene Wilson, 93, Clay City, died Sunday (May 13, 2001). Arrangements incomplete: Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City.

Benton

DECATUR -- Jeffery A. "Glasscutter" Benton, 43, of Decatur passed away 2:45 p.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001). Jeff made it to the party, but a Higher Power needed a riding partner and Jeff was chosen.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the family or to Ronald McDonald House, Springfield. Since Jeff was never one to dress up, the family requests that casual dress be worn or just shake off the dust on your leathers and come on by to say Good-bye.

Jeff was born July 31, 1957, in Decatur, the son of Gerald and Mary F. Poe Benton. He was employed at Wagner Castings Co. (Intermet) as a fork truck operator. Jeff had also worked for Holt Welding of Bement for many years as a crew boss putting up metal buildings throughout Illinois, Ohio and Iowa. He was a member of Prairieland Abate Chapter and a member of Eagles Lodge 507. Jeff and Rhoda Musgrave were married May 28, 1983, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Debra Ann and Jennifer Irene, both of Decatur; stepdaughter, Sarah Marie Musgrave of Cerro Gordo; brothers, Larry Benton of Decatur; Benny Benton and wife Shari of Decatur; sister-in-law, Lisa Benton; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Gerald Michael; parents; grandparents; sister, Debra Ann; and brother, Craig.

The family wishes to thank Dr. James Wade III and all the staff at Cancer Care. Also, thanks to DMH 5100 Oncology unit and to all the staff we came in contact with at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Also, thank you to DMH Home Health & Hospice Services; our nurse, Pam, for her kindness and help; and Prairieland Abate for all their love, care and support.

Hannula

DECATUR -- William G. "Bill" Hannula, 63, of Decatur died 11:24 a.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wed nesday in Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army or American Heart Association.

Mr. Hannula was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Bridgeport, Conn., the son of William and Cecelia Hood Hannula. He was semi-retired partner of R.D. Hughes and Associates Independent Insurance Agents. He was in the Army from 1959-1963 and enjoyed golfing . He married Judith "Judy" Ann Stout Wolbers Nov. 6, 1998, in Decatur.

Surviving are his wife; mother of Round Lake Beach; son, Dean W. Hannula of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Elkins of Orlando, Fla.; stepson, Michael E. Wolbers and wife Krista of Decatur; stepdaughter, Jennifer Wolbers Watkins and husband Tom of Mount Zion; brothers, Wayne Hannula and wife Pam of Morton Grove; Warren Hannula of Gages Lake; stepgrandchildren, Lucas E. Wolbers, Jarett T. Watkins, Courtney M. Watkins and Jacob D. Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Fishel

MOUNT ZION -- Larkin E. Fishel, 82, Mount Zion, retired from Decatur Pump Co., died Friday (May 11, 2001).

Graveside services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Graceland Cemetery. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Memorials: Lakeview Baptist Church.

Chunn

MOUNT ZION -- Kennie B. Chunn, 60, Mount Zion, sales representative for Columbia Diagnostics Co., died Saturday (May 12, 2001).

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mount Zion. Burial: Mount Zion Cemetery, with military rites. Memorials: American Diabetes. Association.

Hawthorne

DECATUR -- Eddie Howard Hawthorne, 57, caught a fast train to eternity 4:15 p.m. Monday (May 7, 2001) from Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

A celebration of Eddie's life will be held for family and friends 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Long Creek Community Building, 2550 S. 70th St., Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Eddie Hawthorne Memorial Fund.

Eddie was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Decatur, the son of Howard M. and Mary C. Hawthorne. He was employed by Oklahoma Installation Co. as a superintendent. He was a graduate of MacArthur High School and Millikin University.

Surviving are his sparring partner, Denise Douglas; mother, Mary of Decatur; brother, Larry and wife Sharon of Decatur; sisters, Donna Hyde and husband Tom of Cerro Gordo; Karen Kelly and husband Darryll of Mount Zion; Phyllis Radley and husband Jerry of Mount Zion; longtime buddy and confidant, Terry Probst and wife Bonnie of Harristown; six children; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his loyal dog, Toby.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Eddie worked hard and played harder. Now he is at rest.

Burger

DECATUR -- Ruth T. Burger, 80, of Decatur died 12:10 a.m. Saturday (May 12, 2001) in McKinley Court Nursing Home.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Cremains will be buried at a later date in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, Calif. Memorials: American Heart Association or American Diabetes. Association.

Mrs. Burger was born March 23, 1921, in Doniphan, Mo., the daughter of Edward and Kitty White Cochran. She married Kenneth Burger Feb. 9, 1946, in Paducah, Ky.

Surviving are her husband; son, Steven Burger and wife Carla of Decatur; daughters, Linda Harshbarger and husband Dennis; Debbie Durbin and husband Steve, all of Decatur; brothers, James Pete Cochran of Doniphan; Robert Cochran of St. Ann, Mo.; sister, Marie Steele of Shell Knob, Mo.; grandchildren, Kenny Burger, Brandon Durbin and Kris Burger.

She was preceded by her parents; daughter, Marrianne; and brother, Addy.
