Cooley
DECATUR -- Mary G. Cooley, 92, of Somerville, N.J., formerly of Decatur, died Saturday (March 31, 2001) in her home. She had been in failing health for several months.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church, Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Viewing will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Somerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Pregnancy Aid Center, 4 East Somerset Street, Raritan, NJ 08869.
Mary was born Aug. 18, 1908, in Decatur, the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Gallagher. She had been a Somerville resident for more than 40 years. Prior to moving to Somerville, she had lived almost 50 years in Decatur, where she was educated. In 1931, she married Pete Ely Cooley, and they resided in Decatur for many years, during which time she was active in St. Patrick's Catholic Church and school and St. Teresa High School. In addition, she was a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, as well as other civic groups.
She moved from Illinois to New Jersey in the late 1950s, where her husband managed all of the business and financial interests of tobacco heiress Doris Duke. After his retirement in the late 1960s, they particularly enjoyed traveling with their Airstream trailer and spending winters in Mission, Texas, where they enjoyed bicycling.
In Somerville, she had been a member of Somerville Garden Club, Somerville Civic League and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a daily communicant and was active in the Senior Leisure Club. She was an avid bridge player and took Learning for Life in Plainfield, N.J., well into her mid-80s.
Surviving are her sons, Dudley P. Cooley and wife Sue Ellen of Bloomsburg, Pa.; Patrick E. Cooley of Decatur; daughter, Mary Ann Hunt and husband Robert H. of Bridgewater, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 44 years, Pete Ely Cooley, preceded her in death in 1975. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

DECATUR -- Oden E. Brown, 91, of Decatur, formerly of Rochester, Mountain Grove, Mo., Warrensburg and Springfield, died Sunday (April 1, 2001) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Scattergood officiating. Visitation will be at the time of service. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Newlin Cemetery, Robinson. Memorials: Fair Havens Christian Home.
Mr. Brown was born July 29, 1909, in Hutsonville Township, the son of Everett and Clara Ann Correll Brown. He was a member of South Side Christian Church, Springfield, and was a graduate of University of Illinois with a master's degree in agriculture. He worked in the State Health Department for the state of Illinois. He married Rema Susan Stanley Feb. 29, 1936. She preceded him in death Nov. 20, 1995.
Surviving are his daughters, Carmen Joan Newby and husband Bruce of San Jose, Calif.; Elaine Rema Traughber and husband Rod of Warrensburg; six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and two sisters.
Antosz
DECATUR -- Joseph Peter Antosz, 80, of Decatur, formerly of Kankakee, died 7:20 a.m. Sunday (April 1, 2001) in his home.
Funeral Mass will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Herscher. Mr. Antosz was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Goodrich, the son of Joseph and Mary Antosz. He retired from Gould National Battery, Kankakee, after 33 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the
Korean War. He was a member of American Legion of
Kankakee, Holy Name with Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was a volunteer for visitation at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Decatur Airport with Kiwanis Club. He was president of IBEW Local Union, Kankakee Chapter. He married Eleanor J. Rice July 1, 1950.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Cheryl Ann Rhodes and husband Tom of Decatur; brother, Bernard Antosz and wife Shirley of Kankakee; grandson, Michael Rhodes of Effingham; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria Rhodes of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
