CARMI - Pauline (McMinn) Leonberger, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at her home.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Buchanan; two sons, Butch and Troy; a sister, Etheline Brooks; eight grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in White County Memorial Garden.

ENFIELD - May Ellen (Barton) Newman, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
She retired in 1987, had worked at Krogers in Enfield, owned and operated Newman Grocery, was a licensed practical nurse, and she and her husband operated the White County Press and Shopper News in Carmi.
Surviving are two daughters, Erma Barton and Donna Hale; five sisters, Ruby Barger, Betty Martin, Etta Lumb, Mildred Gwaltney and Dorothy Jumper; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Enfield General Baptist Church, with burial in Enfield Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elledge Funeral Home.

WAYNE CITY - Flora (Mitchell) Smith, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrey Crockett and Deloris Ellis; four sons, Bobbie, Garry, Jack and Tommy; and 24 grandchildren.

MCLEANSBORO - Byford L. Stewart, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at his home of congestive heart failure.
He had been a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ruth; a son, Jason; his mother, Vauda Stewart; and a half brother, Bill.

CARMI - Adriaantje C. (Stofberg) Bax, 80, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.
Surviving are two sons, Matthys and Rudie Bax; two daughters, Adri Zieren and Nelly Smith; a brother, Bob Christian Stofberg; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Carmi, with burial in White County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Vivian 'Sis' Belangee
