Carradena Higginson
COWLING - Carradena (Stadler) Higginson, 91, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was a retired clothing factory seamstress.
She was a member of Antioch Christian Church and attended Cowling Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Phyllis A. Hayes of Fort Pierce, Fla., Dolores R. Elliott of Grayville and Letha M. Michels and Lois L. Helm, both of Cowling; two sons, Donald L. of Cowling and Gordon L. of Benton; a sister, Ruth Moore of Wentzville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo D. Higginson, in 1984; and a son, Bernard L. "Stub" Higginson, in 1996.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home Grayville Chapel, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.

Muriel Rich
WAYNE CITY - Muriel (Smith) Rich, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
She was a longtime member of Friendly Zion General Baptist Church in Aden.
Surviving are four daughters, Aldena Hammontree of Daytona Beach, Fla., Wilma Trotter of Dahlgren, Correna Smith of Cisne and Rhonda Miller of Auberdale, Fla.; two sons, Larry and Randy, both of Wayne City; a brother, Clyde Smith of Platio, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leon Rich, in 1989.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Olive Branch Baptist Church, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Opal Kellett
GRAYVILLE — Opal E. Kellett, 88, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
She retired as a practical nurse from the Manteno State Hospital and she was a member of the Grayville Northside Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law who cared for her, William "Bill" and Rosetta Risinger of Grayville; two granddaughters, Belinda Funkhouser and Yvonne Hallam; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Orland "Whitey," died in 1979.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Nigel Moore
SHAWNEETOWN — Nigel Moore, 93, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001,at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
She had been a member of Gallatin County Home Extension Club and was a member of Pisgah General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jo Rister of Shawneetown; a son, John Charles of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, Judy and Don Evard, Scott, Tim and Pattie Rister, Bonnie and Roger Mahan, Nathan Moore and Sarah and Sam Alderfer; and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Nathaniel "Nat," preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cox & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Westwood Cemetery.

Norma Vos
ROBINSON — Norma Jane (Shoulders) Vos, 66, of Orland Park formerly of Robinson, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at her home in Orland Park of cancer.
She retired in 1996 as president of a mail order and sales network business.
She was a member of Palos Park Presbyterian Community Church.
Surviving are her husband, Jim; four daughters, Kim Stang, Cynthia Valaris Vos, Kathy Skoda and Cheryl Reed; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Morgan, William, Peter, Kyle, Brandon and Mitchel; and nieces.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery
in rural Palestine.

Charles Dix
ROBINSON — Charles A. "Chuck" Dix, 87, of Santa Ana, Calif., formerly of Robinson, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Saddleback Medical Center in Mission Viejo, Calif.
He retired in 1984 as a civil engineer and estimator for Willis Construction.
He was a Mason and member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Lenora Hoffman of Chicago; a brother, Gary of Bloomington; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hutsonville Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Pulliam Funeral Home.

Eloise Ramsey
ROBINSON — Eloise P. (Fasig) Ramsey, 88, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Robinson, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Cornerstone Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Hippensteel of Culver City, Calif., and Mary Lou Morriss of Texarkana; a son, Jim of Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Margaret Bennett and Mary Diller, both of Casey; three brothers, Paul Fasig of Oblong, Bill Fasig of Robinson and Dean Fasig of Casey; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harry R., died in 1978.
Velma Hawkins
ROBINSON - Velma L. (Nash) Hawkins, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Crawford Memorial Hospital.
She had worked at the Robinson Shoe Factory and was a cook for the Mission Tea Room and The Tic Toc Cafe and had attended Pleasant View Church in rural Palestine.
Surviving are three sons, Norman Joe of Palestine, Charles of Robinson and Robert of Annapolis; three grandchildren, Cindy Zellers, Robbie Hawkins and Nikki Fancil; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira L. and a daughter, Judith Anne Hawkins.
Private graveside services are pending. Goodwine Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Ralph Alcorn Jr.
GRAYVILLE - Ralph C. Alcorn Jr., 78, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Meadowood Nursing Home of heart failure.
He owned and operated Walter Oil Tool for 55 years.
He was a World War II veteran and was a member of American Legion Post 696, commander of the legion honor guard from 1946 to 1998 and a member of the White County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3851.
He was a member of the Illinois Oil and Gas Association, Elks, Moose, past member of Grayville Community United School District 1 school board and past city of Grayville commissioner.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Maynette (Jarboe); two sons, Mike of Henderson, Nev., and Tim of Grayville; a granddaughter, Tami Ferrill; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home Grayville Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ronald Compton
MOUNT CARMEL - Ronald W. Compton, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Oakview Heights Nursing Home.
He had worked as a pumper in the oil fields, was a World War II
Army veteran and a member of the Lawrenceville Eagles.
Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Martin of Hephzibah, Ga.; a sister, Bea Sales of Mount Carmel; a brother, Norman of Mount Carmel; two grandsons, Rodney and Ronald Martin; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife, Thelma Irene (Higginson), died in 1998.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Short Funeral Home, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.
