HARRISBURG - Vernon Elam, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at his home.
He was a carpenter and a World War II
Army veteran.
Surviving is a niece, Patricia Miller.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Liberty Cemetery. There will be no visitation at Gaskins Funeral Home.
Fred Campbell
McLEANSBORO - Fred Campbell, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at his home of heart disease.
He had been the superintendent of Pillsbury Grain Co. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Philippines, and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; a daughter, Marsha Rubenacker of Piopolis; a son, Ronald of Dahlgren; a brother, Franklin of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Chad and Carisa Campbell, Julie Rawls, Stephanie Clark and Jenny Rubenacker; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harre Funeral Home, with burial in Smith Cemetery, with military rites.

Mary Shaw
ALBION - Mary Lou (Vandaveer) Shaw, 76, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her home.
She had worked at Farmers Packing Co., Rest Haven Nursing Home and Johnnie Manufacturing.
She was a graduate of Lockyear Business College and a member of Mount Erie Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Howard P.; three daughters, Paula Jean Glover and Pamela Ruth Shaw, both of Albion, and Patricia Ann Wells of Fairfield; a son, Michael A. of Albion; three sisters, Joyce Vandaveer of New Albany, Ind., Ruth Woolridge of St. Paul, Minn., and Shirley Caldwell of Granite City; three brothers, Robert Vandaveer of Coleman, Mich., Bennie Vandaveer of St. Louis and Bill Vandaveer of Camdenton, Mo.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Two sons preceded her in death, Stanley and Mark.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nale's Funeral Home, with burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Michael Poirot
HARRISBURG - Michael Lee Poirot, 26, of Vincennes, Ind., formerly of Harrisburg, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, of injuries sustained in a mining accident at the 5-Star Coal Mine in Petersburg, Ind.
He was an
Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of five months, Brandi (Tungate) Poirot; a son, Aaron at home; his mother, Jackye Klope of Harrisburg; his father, Roger of Harrisburg; a sister, Amelia Klope of Harrisburg; two brothers, David and Jeremy Klope, both of Harrisburg; and his grandparents, Wanda Lee, Betty Klope, Peggy Poirot and Ellen and John Koker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Reed Funeral Home in Harrisburg, with burial in Sunset Garden Cemetery, with military rites.

George Douglas Jr.
ROBINSON - George R. Douglas Jr., 59, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana of respiratory and kidney failure.
He was a cook and had worked for the Hutsonville Street Department.
He was a member of Crawford County Christian Center in Robinson.
Surviving are three daughters, Penny Webb, Vickie Bennett and Carla Douglas, all of Robinson; a son, Robert of Hutsonville; a stepson, Melvin Henry of Palestine; two sisters, Pamela Moore and Paula Rittenberg, both of Terre Haute, Ind.; two brothers, Guy and Frank, both of Robinson; 11 grandchildren, Ronda Smothers, Bambi Brunsell, Adam and Ashley Bennett, Donna Zimmerman and Angel, Beth Anna, Skyler, Jordan, Zack and Alex Douglas; eight great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Goodwine Funeral Home Robinson Chapel, with burial in Robinson New Cemetery.

Ramona Myers
HARRISBURG - Ramona E. Myers, 73, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at her home of apparent heart failure.
She retired as a secretary for the Saline County Board and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in South Carolina.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Rees of Harrisburg; two sons, Paul L. Jr. of Harrisburg and Dr. John L. of Marion; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler, Sara and Amy Myers, Mandy Fort and Dustin and Shawn Rees; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Myers Sr., in February.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Cemetery
in Carterville.

Martha Holmes
ROBINSON - Martha Jane (Hunt) Holmes, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Crawford Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, DeEtta Jo Pierson of Aloha, Ore., and Jennie Kaye Rich of Danville; a brother, Joseph Mashburn Hunt of Sunlake, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Andrew Rich, Blake Pierson and Heather Kenyon; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Laird, died in 1996.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

GRAYVILLE - Marjorie L. "Marge" (Schaich) Kercher, 86, of Russell, Kan., formerly of Grayville, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Russell Regional Hospital in Kansas.
She had worked at a jewelry store as a clerk.
She was a graduate of Grayville High School and had attended a year of business college.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Gamma Zeta Sorority, the hospital auxiliary and Gray Ladies, all in Russell.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; a sister, Marcella Dobbs
Flora McAnnally
HARRISBURG - Flora (Feazel) McAnnally, 75, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at her home of cancer.
Surviving are a stepson, Jim Irvin of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Hazel Agin of Harrisburg; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Edward, died in 1990.
Arrangements were handled by Weirauch Funeral Home, with burial in Big Ridge Cemetery.

MOUNT CARMEL - Molly Carol Deisher, 64, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville of complications of diabetes..
She was a member of Pisgah United Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, "Pete"; a son, William Miller of Allendale; three sisters, Rose Anne Finley of rural Bridgeport, Phyllis Brown of Vincennes, Ind., and Joyce Harness of Tremont; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
