Donald P. Launius of Mount Prospect
A funeral Mass for Donald P. Launius, 43, formerly of Chicago, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Zachary Catholic Church. Fr. Murphy will officiate.
Born March 16, 1956, he died Wednesday, June 16, 1999. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Launius was a member of Local 399 I. U. O. E. and the Irish American Heritage Center.
He was the son of Donald and Margaret (nee Shevlin) Launius; brother of Michael (Maureen), Brian (Marybeth), Lawrence (Connie), James (Susan) and Patrick (Corie) Launius; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was also the nephew of Clifford and Mary Lou Cammarata, Kathryn Giammarese and the late Louis Launius, Mary McNamara and Michael Shevlin.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.

Eleanor M. Liske of Arlington Heights
Services for Eleanor M. Liske (nee Dechmann), 92, formerly of Elk Grove Village, will begin with prayers at 9 a.m. Monday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church, 750 E. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village.
Born Jan. 16, 1907, in Chicago, she died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at her home. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
A homemaker, she was the loving mother of Mary Anne (Jack) Woodcock, Eleanor Langton, Beatrice (Dan) Finn, Thomas (Carol) Liske, M. D., and Rita Steiner; cherished grandmother of 25; and great-grandmother of 10.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crosby J. Liske.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for the Beverly Farm Foundation, 6301 Humbert Road, Godfrey, IL 62035; or for RAINBOWS, 2100 Golf Road, Suite 370, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008.

Mary Jo Martin of Elgin
Funeral services for Mary Jo Martin, 66, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Second Baptist Church of Elgin.
Born April 23, 1933, in Morris Chapel, Tenn., to Evans and Nannie (nee Eanes) Martin, she passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at her home. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Cameron, Linda Martin, Jo Ann (Greg) Council, Carolyn Martin and Barbara (Preston) Martin, all of Elgin; sons, Rickey Elam, Demetrius Martin, Edward Martin, DennisMartin and Randy (Sonia) Martin, all of Elgin; 44 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Clara Jackson of Tennessee and Sue Gross of Elgin; and brother, Earl Martin of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Martin; grandson, Tyrone Lark; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be private, at Madison Funeral Home, Elgin.

Vera Mattick of Des Plaines
Funeral services for Vera Mattick, 101, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at G. L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines.
Born Jan. 14, 1898, she died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Des Plaines. Burial will be in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago.
Mrs. Mattick had been a resident of Des Plaines for 20 years.
She was the wife of the late Charles Mattick; mother of Florence (Anthony) Thal and the late Charles (Florence) Mattick Jr. and Vera (Ray) Baechle; grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of 19.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Des Plaines Senior Center.

Scott R. Norwood of Schaumburg
Services for Scott R. Norwood, 29, will begin with prayers at 8:45 a.m. today, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, and continue with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
Born April 28, 1970, in Oak Park, he died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, in Schaumburg. Interment will be private.
A 1988 graduate of Schaumburg High School, Mr. Norwood had also served in the Navyand was nominated for Sailor of the Year in 1993. Everyone loved Scott.
He never thought of himself -- others always came first. He was outgoing and extroverted, and had a wonderful spontaneity and sense of humor. He also loved to cook and had been a chef in the Navy.
He is survived by his parents, Mary Norwood (nee Bartels) and Thomas J. Norwood Jr.; and brothers, Tom and Lawrence Norwood.

John Edward O'Connor Jr. of Arlington Heights
Prayers for John Edward O'Connor Jr., 56, will said at 8:45 a.m. today, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) , Arlington Heights. Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights.
Born Oct. 9, 1942, in Chicago, he died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
Mr. O'Connor, a certified public accountant, was executive director of the Society of Actuaries in Schaumburg for the past 20 years and executive director of the Actuarial Foundation for the past five years.
Formerly he was the secretary/treasurer for the American College of Hospital Administrators in Chicago.
Mr. O'Connor was a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Association Forum (formerly the Chicago Society of Association Executives), where he also served on the board of directors. He was actively involved in organizing charitable events supporting Marillac Settlement House in Chicago on behalf of the Society of Actuaries. He was a board member of the Actuarial Foundation and was currently serving his second term on the Arlington Heights Plan Commission. John was a member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church and volunteered for the PADS program at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Judith M. (nee Lorenz), whom he married on April 16, 1966; sons, John III (Sara) of Arlington Heights, Barry (Jacquelyn) of Elk Grove Village, Ryan (Kimberly) of Lake Zurich and Daniel (Jill) of Arlington Heights; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Lauren and Taylor; sisters, Eileen (Arthur) Hoffmann and Marguerite (Ed) Brunner; brothers, Brian (Christine) and Daniel J.; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Marillac Settlement House, 212 S. Francisco, Chicago, IL 60612 or Loyola University Medical Center, Liver Transplant Unit, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, IL 60153.

Betty J. Paar of Elgin
A funeral Mass for Betty J. Paar (nee Begalka), 75, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin. The Rev. Michael Morrissey will officiate.
Born Jan. 19, 1924, in South Elgin, to William and Selma (nee Schultz) Begalka, she died Friday, June 18, 1999, at home.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Dundee.
Mrs. Paar was a 1942 graduate of Elgin High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was always there for her family and friends. She showed unconditional love towards all of them, and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Jack Paar, whom she married June 29, 1946; son, Jack (Jean) Paar Jr. of Elgin; daughters, Susan McCluskey and Cindy (Rick) Yarmouth, both of Elgin; grandchildren, Tania, Heather, Ryan, Stephanie, Aaron, Amanda and Trevor, allof Elgin; brothers, Norman (Marion) Begalka of South Elgin and Darwin Begalka of Minnesota; sisters, Bonnie (John)Cremeens of Elgin, and Ruth (Willard) Heath and Beverly (Neil) Morton, both of Sun City, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin.
Masses or memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Building Fund would be appreciated.

Donald W. Pascaly of Algonquin
Memorial services for Donald W. Pascaly, 58, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel, Algonquin. Rev. Moises Apostol, associate pastor of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, will officiate.
Born July 12, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Helen Marmon Pascaly, he died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at home.
Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
He had been the ownerof Bee-Bright Carpet Store in Algonquin and a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son, Donald W. Pascaly Jr. of Algonquin; daughters, Sharon (Mark) Shipley of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. and Kimberly (Jed) Piquette of Johnsburg, Ill.; and grandchildren, Sunny Lea Shipley, Kyle Pascaly, and Dallas and Madison Piquette.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Patricia Anne Smialek Pascaly, in 1998, whom he married in 1962.

William T. Pratt of Schaumburg
Funeral services for William T. Pratt, 90, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Julian Eymard Church.
Born in Chicago, he died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Friendship Village Nursing Home. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
A former, 15-year resident of Glendale Heights, Mr. Pratt was a retired machinist. He was also a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II.
He was the beloved husband of the late Cele T. Pratt (nee Travers), who preceded him in 1991; dear brother-in-law of Mercedes T. Rettberg and Sally A. Walsh; and fond uncle of many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral chapel.
