Nick Longo of Prospect Heights
Services for Nick Longo, 77, formerly a longtime resident of Berwyn, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Cumberland Baptist Church, 1500 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Born Aug. 25, 1921, in Chicago, he died Thursday, June 10, 1999, in Prospect Heights. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Longo was a retired supervisor for a spring factory. A veteran, he had served in the Army during World War II.
He was the husband of Doris J. Longo (nee Wagler); father of Howard J. (Marie) and Nicholas J. Longo; grandfather of Kevin J. and Elizabeth J. Longo; brother of James (Regina) Longo, Salavatore (Bernice) Longo, Josephine Bengel, Madeline (the late Walter) Cwik, and the late Joseph (Margaret) Longo and Anthony (Josephine) Longo; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect.

Juanita F. Macialek formerly of Itasca
Services for Juanita F. Macialek (nee Flores), 79, of Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Bethany United Church in Itasca, where she will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Mrs. Macialek passed away Thursday, June 10, 1999. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery.
She was the wife of Peter Macialek; mother of Charles Rodriguez, Peter M. Macialek Jr., Dora (Luis) Castellanos, Lydia (Samuel) Rios and Alice (Ralph) Pennighton; grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 24; and great-great-grandmother of four. She was also the sister of Amada Cipreano, Josefa Anis, Paul Flores, Danial (Della) Flores and David Flores; aunt of many nieces and nephews; and cousin of many.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca.

Kimberly Ann Malone of Barrington
A wake service for Kimberly Ann Malone, 41, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, at Stirlen-Pieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.
Born Dec. 17, 1957, in Chicago, she passed away Thursday, June 10, 1999, in Barrington. Burial will be private.
Kimberly wasa very caring person who sought adoptions for special needs children. She also enjoyed volunteer work at local hospitals, especially with cancer patients.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Malone, whom she married May 13, 1987, in Berkley, Mich.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shire Rothbart of Birmingham, Mich.; and sister, Julie (Steve) Turner of West Bloomfield, Mich.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Elizabeth `Betty' Moek of Des Plaines
A funeral Mass for Elizabeth `Betty' Moek, 73, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Stephen Church.
Born Nov. 22, 1925, in Chicago, she died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Lutheran General Hospital. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
A 20-year resident of Des Plaines, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen Church.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Joseph Moek; children, Ken Byrdy of Chicago, Peter Byrdy of Seattle, Joe Moek of Des Plaines and Linda Clemons of Chicago; and sisters, Florence Graff, Mary Gero, Rose Pettus, Shirley Yott, Joan Lecuyer and Marthann Liosis.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.

Moriichi `Mori' Nishihira of Elk Grove Village
Services for Moriichi `Mori' Nishihira formerly of Chicago, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Lake View Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago.
He was the beloved husband of Betsy; dear father of Neil; brother of Bruce (Mari) and the late Donald; and son of the late Shujitsu and Tsuruko.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday, at the funeral home.

William E. O'Brien formerly of Dundee and Elgin
A memorial Mass for William E. O'Brien will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 845 West Main St., West Dundee.
Mr. O'Brien of Naples, Fla., died Thursday, March 18, 1999.
Born in Boston, Mass., hereceived a B. A. degree from Boston College, class of 1925, and an M. E. degree from New York University in 1933. Hewas a winter resident of Naples since 1974 and a permanent resident since August 1989.
Mr. O'Brien was employed by the Toastmaster Division of McGraw Edison Company, retiring in 1958, as vice president of sales and advertising. Hewas very active in the Elgin community having served as a director of the Association of Commerce, general chairman of the Community Chest, president of Catholic Charities, and president of Elgin Country Club. During his businesscareer, he was vice president and director of National Housewares Manufacturers Association and director of National Electric Manufacturers Association.
In 1958 he became president of Sunbeam Electric Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico until the company was dissolved in 1965. Returning to Elgin, he served as executive director of the Economic Development Commission from 1967 to 1969.
Mr. O'Brien was a founder and chairman of The Anvil Club in Dundee. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples and Wyndemere Country Club, a Paul Harris Fellowof Rotary International, BPOE 2010 (Elks), former member of the Union League Club in Chicago, Berwin Country Club, Dorado Beach Club of Puerto Rico and president of the Elgin Country Club.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Patricia Ann Moylan of Encino, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Since his death, his sister, Katherine Marston of Belfast, Maine, has died.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 67 years, Irene; and brother, Paul S. O'Brien of Baton Rouge, La.

Joyce Peterson of Elgin
Services for Joyce Peterson, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. The Rev. Steven Srock will officiate.
Born May 11, 1922, in Boonton, N. J., to Joseph and Laura Kovalcik, she died Friday, June 11, 1999, at Sherman Hospital.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
A resident of Elgin since 1965, Mrs. Peterson had been employed as a nurse at Sherman Hospital, retiring as head nurse in 1987. She was known at the hospital as the `Teddy Bear Lady. ' A veteran of World War II, she had served with the Nurses Navy Corps. She was also a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen (David) Krog of Elgin and Lori (John) McDonald of Elgin; son, Kent (Patricia) Peterson of Elgin; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Peterson, in 1965.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to a charity of donor's choice.

Judith J. Pinn formerly of Lake Zurich
Funeral services for Judith J. Pinn (nee Johnson), 61, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.
Born July 2, 1937, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, she died Friday, June 11, 1999, in Horseshoe Bend. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Survivors include her husband, Otto Pinn; sons, Frank (Dottie) Pinn and Keith (Christina) Pinn; daughter, Valerie (Eric) Ellsworth; sister, Marykaye (William) Loss; nine grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Kathryn Johnson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

John A. Pollice of Morton Grove
A funeral Mass for John A. Pollice, 76, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 8100 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.
Born Feb. 22, 1923, in Chicago, he died Friday, June 11, 1999, at home. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Pollice was employed by Allstate Insurance Company in the claims department. He was a Purple Heart and Silver Star recipient for service given to the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a graduate of DePaul University and Chicago Kent College of Law.
He was the husband of Laverne (nee Rohde); father of Monica (Martin J.) McDonnell of Hoffman Estates and the late John M.; brother of Alphonse Pollice and Dolores Nelson; and grandfather of Kathryn, Martin and Matthew.
Visitation will be from 3to 9 p.m. today, at Haben Funeral Home, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Dorothy Schroeder
Visitation for Dorothy Schroeder will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park.
Born April 10, 1920, in Chicago, she died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
A recent resident of the Arbor of Itasca Nursing Home, she previously lived for 15 years in Downers Grove.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth of Rolling Meadows; and grandchildren, Amber of Rolling Meadows and Donald of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Antonia Voss; and brothers, Ted, Clarence and Robert.

Gwendolyn J. Shirk of Bartlett
Funeral services for Gwendolyn J. Shirk, 66, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Ind. The Rev. Dominic V. Bertino will officiate.
She passed away Thursday, June 10, 1999. Burial will be in Calumet Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Shirk had been a resident of Hobart for 32 years before moving to Bartlett. A retired registered nurse, she had earned her degree from Grant Hospital in Chicago with the Class of 1954. She will be remembered as a loving, devoted mother.
Surviving are her mother, Laura Carpenter of Momence; son, Joe (Lisa) Shirk Jr. of Bartlett; daughters, Gail (Bob) Kuchta of Hobart, Sandy (Phil) Manning of Hobart and Laurie (David) Lewis of Portage, Ind.; grandchildren, Jannette Kuchta, Kelly (Donny) Somers and Bobby Kuchta, all of Hobart, and Nikki Shirk `Granny's Girl' of Bartlett; great-grandson, Tony Shirk Somers of Hobart; sisters, Roberta (Ken) Meyer of Antioch and Mary (Chester) Warren of Kimberling City, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Marlene Foale of Texas and Betty (Wayne) Hoffman of Vernon Hills; and many loving aunts, uncles, niecesand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Shirk Sr.; sons, Tony and Nick Shirk; and father, Robert Carpenter.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to HIEDC are preferred.
