He was best known as the feature role in Puss N Boots which was also shown on Chicago television.
While a student at Goodman, he played the role of Cousin Lymon in Ballad of the Sad Cafe and also appeared in the professional engagement of this play produced in Memphis, Tenn. and Cleveland, Ohio.

He then attended Southern Illinois University where he completed studies and received his bachelor of arts degree. Richard spent many years working in Lake Forest at Grove School and was selected by Warner Saunders as one of the `People You Should Know' in his television feature. After leaving Grove School, Richard felt the Lord had a course for him to follow which led him to Bob Jones University in Greenville, S. C., where on May 9, 1999, he received his bachelor of science degree in special education. Richard's faith kept him focused on receiving his degree and with the aid of caring and loving Bob Jones University students and faculty he was able to complete his dream.
