Edmund Dombrowski of Buffalo Grove
Services for Edmund Dombrowski, 95, will begin with chapel prayersat 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Church, 75 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove.
Born in Chicago, he died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mr. Dombrowski was retired from Western Electric after 45 years of service. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus LaFayette Council in Chicago.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Dombrowski (nee Kowalski), who preceded him in 1983; loving father of Joan M. (Ralph) Slater; proud grandfather of Cathleen (the late Richard) Steinhofer, Sharon Sonderman, Thomas (Christina) Slater and Stephen (Jacqueline) Slater; and great-grandfather of Robert, Jennifer, Erik, Daniel and Nicole.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 4709 Golf Road, Suite 1015, Skokie, IL 60076.

Frieda E. Dunn of St. Charles
Services for Frieda E. Dunn, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St., Geneva. The Revs. Larry Hilkemann and Melissa Earley will officiate.
Born June 14, 1914, in Chicago, to Gastav and Helene Wolff, she passed away Monday, April 5, 1999, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Burial will be private, in Chapel Hill Gardens West, Hillside.
Among her special interests, Frieda was a member of the United Methodist Church of Geneva, the Delnor Community Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the American Philatelic Society, the United Nations Philatelist Chriskindl Stamp Club of Austria, and the Spring Hill Stamp Club.
Surviving are her daughter, Lenora Jean White of St. Charles; grandsons, William F. and Robert T. White; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Kiemel and William Dunn; granddaughter, Kathy Lynn; four brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 3to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, at Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Route 38), Geneva.

Ann J. Gregory of St. Charles
Services for Ann J. Gregory, 86, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles.
Born Oct. 27, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pa., she died peacefullyThursday, at Geneva Care Center. Burial will be private, in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynn (Russell) Slaughter of Coral Gables, Fla., and Carol (Richard) Grelch of St. Charles; sons, Ronald Gregory of Bangor, Maine, Ted (Ruby) Gregory of Green Oaks and Marion Gregory Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Gregory.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Russell Claus Gustafson of Batavia
Memorial services for Russell Claus Gustafson, 85, of The Holmstad in Batavia, formerly of Chicago as well as Oak Lawn and Sawyer, Mich., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at The Holmstad's Ahlstrand Chapel. The Rev. Donna Nelson will officiate.
Born Nov. 26, 1913, in Chicago, to Claus and Ellen (nee Carlson) Gustafson, he passed away Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Michealsen Health Care Center in Batavia. Interment will be private, in West Batavia Cemetery.
Mr. Gustafson served in the Seabees Construction Battalion atGuadal Canal in the South Pacific during World War II. A carpenter by trade, he and his father owned and operated R & C Gustafson Construction Company for many years prior to his retirement in 1978. For more than 70 years he was a member of Trinity Covenant Church in Oak Lawn. He and his wife moved to Bethany Beach in Sawyer, Mich., in 1980, and he was a member of Harbert Community Church in Harbert, Mich., for 12 years. They had recently moved to The Holmstad retirement community in 1993 to be near their family. Among his personal interests, Russell was an avid fisherman. He will be especially remembered, however, for dedicating his life to his family and serving the Lord.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ethel M. Gustafson (nee Holmberg), whom he married Oct. 26, 1940, in Chicago; son, Scott Gustafson of Chicago Heights; daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Ford of Downers Grove; granddaughter, Jennie Ford of Downers Grove; sisters, Ingrid Whitlock of Crete, Ill., and Vernette (William) Gilkinson of South Holland; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation.

Mary Anne Harold formerly of Libertyville
A memorial Mass for Mary Anne Harold, 59, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Church in Libertyville.
Born June 13, 1939, in Chicago, she passed away Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Hampton Plaza Healthcare Center, Niles.
Mary Anne had moved to the Libertyville-Mundelein areain 1981. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville and, until her health failed, was employed as an executive secretary at Trinity College in Deerfield. She was a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where she received her master's degree in guidance and counseling. Mary Anne was also a volunteer at Winchester House in Libertyville and St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan.
She was pleased to have traveled to the Holy Landand South Africa late in 1989.
Surviving are her son, Joseph (Carol) Condon of Kalamazoo, Mich.; daughters, Kathleen Little of Cave Creek, Ariz., Bonnie (George) Brztowski of Palatine and Suzanne (Ken) Grutza of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her brothers, Tom (Elaine) Harold of Wheeling and Rick (Sue) Harold of Roselle; and sisters, Christine (Glen) Scott of Stevens Point, Wis., Dolores Harold of Chicago, and Georgianne (Tom) Harold-McGuigan of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ann Harold.
Contributions to Catholic Charities in her memory would be appreciated.

Roger E. Hill of South Elgin
Private funeral services for Roger E. Hill, 49, were held at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
Born Aug. 19, 1949, in Elgin, the son of Earl and Lila Sjurset Hill, he died Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He is survived by his mother, Lila Hill of South Elgin; and brother, Thomas Hill of Crystal Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Hill.

Bernard T. `Buddy' Hogan of Diamond Lake
A funeral Mass for Bernard T. `Buddy' Hogan, 96, will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. today, at Santa Maria del Popolo Church, 126 N. Lake, Mundelein.
Born Dec. 4, 1902, in Chicago, he died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at his home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fremont Center.
A resident of Diamond Lake for 43 years, Mr. Hogan was the former secretary of the Cook County Board of Appeals, retiring in 1967. Until 1975, he conducted his own real estate appraisal business. He was the former president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Santa Maria del Popolo Church. The youngest of 13 children, he had attended Quigley Preparatory School and De Paul University. He later received his electrical engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and his degree in plastic engineering from Northwestern University. He was also a graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen Hogan (nee McLaughlin); loving father of Bryan (Diane) Hogan of Mundelein, Kevin (Kathy) Hogan of Palatine, Maureen (Robert) Lang of La Grange Park, Dennyse (the late William) Kerr of Waukegan and Colleen (Steven) Wilhelm of Mundelein; proud grandfather of 16; and great-grandfather of seven.
Memorials may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607.

James L. Howe of Elgin
A funeral Mass for James L. Howe, 79, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Elgin.
Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Chicago, to Harry and Helen (nee Louks) Howe, hedied Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Burial will be private.
Mr. Howe had been a resident of the Elgin area for 44 years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Elgin.
A veteran, he had served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Dundee VFW #2298.
Surviving are his son, James (Marie) Howe of Sandwich; daughters, Janet Howe of Belvidere and Kathleen Howe of Elgin; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Howe; and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, and from 9:15 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday, at the church.

Jack D. Hughes formerly of Arlington Heights
Services for Jack D. Hughes, 84, of Chesapeake, Va., formerly a longtime resident of Arlington Heights, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at South Church, 501 S. Emerson, Mount Prospect. He will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. The Rev.
Dr. Jack Skiles will officiate.
Born Jan. 31, 1915, in Onaway, Mich., he died Tuesday, April 6,1999, at his home surrounded by his family. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
After completing high school, Mr. Hughes worked for General Motors as the master of ceremonies for the Parade of Progress. In 1944, after serving in World War II, he moved to the Chicago area and became associated with Littelfuse, Inc. For more that 37 yearsat Littelfuse, Mr. Hughes worked his way up from expediter to president and CEO prior to retiring in 1981. He alsoserved on the board of directors for the First National Bank of Des Plaines.
Mr. Hughes served in the signal corps as an expediter during World War II. He was a founder and member of the board of directors for Northwest Community Hospital and the Lattof YMCA, which dedicated a wing in his honor last year.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer and a longtime member of Rolling Green Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geraldine M. `Gerry' (nee Mackay); son, Robert (Sharron) of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert of Bradenton, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights.

Harriet Kierna of Bloomingdale
Services for Harriet Kierna (nee Ficht), 93, a resident of Bloomingdale Pavillion for the past 11 years, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, from Gogolinski-Trofimuk Funeral Home, 1850 N. Wood St. (at Cortland), Chicago, and continue with Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Mrs. Kierna was a member of the Polish Alma Mater and the St. Mary of the Angels Rosary Sodality.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Kierna; loving mother of Anthony H. (Dorothy) Kierna; dear stepgrandmother of Russell (Ana Marta Vargas) Witthoff and Heather; dear great-stepgrandmother of Eileen Juliet Witthoff; fond sister of the late Clara Lenz and August Ficht; and dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.
