They were together for more than 55 years and forevermore! They were the loving parents of Cheri, Craig (Carol) and Chris (Erni); devoted Near-Near and Far-Far (grandparents) to Cassidy, Connery and Cheline; and beloved members of a treasured extended family.

Ruth A. Marsicek of Hoffman Estates
Funeral services for Ruth A. Marsicek, 96, formerly of Elgin and Chicago, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The Rev. Robert Baker will officiate.
Born May 8, 1902, in Cambria County, Penn., the daughter of Jacob and Irene Karber Baker, she died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Alden Poplar Creek Healthcare Center. Burial will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Ruth grew up in Jefferson, Iowa, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1920. She went to college at Iowa City and then taught school. After leaving Iowa, Ruth worked at Bell Telephone, Western Electric, Automatic Electric and Marshall Fields.
She is survived by her brother, Leonard Baker, and sisters, Louella Kerwin, Helen Toal and Lillian Fraser, all of Carpentersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marsicek, in 1962, and by eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Thomas E. McCoy of Elgin
Services for Thomas E. McCoy, 77, formerly of Streamwood, will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Rev. Father John R. Stieper will officiate.
Born Nov. 17, 1921, in Pennsylvania, the son of John and Ann McCoy, he died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Carrington Care Center. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
He was a resident of Streamwood, having worked forthe Village of Streamwood.
Thomas was a veteran serving in the Marines, and was a member and past commander of theVFW #5151 in Streamwood.
Survivors include his son, Thomas A. (Heide) McCoy of Elgin; grandchildren, Lucas and Shane McCoy; and three sisters in Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Georgia in 1982.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of services today, at the funeral home.

Joseph A. `Al' Meersman 51-year resident of Palatine
Prayers for Joseph A. `Al' Meersman, 75, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 465 N. Benton St., Palatine.
Born Feb. 23, 1924, in Chicago, he died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at his residence. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Mr. Meersman was a retired electrician and a member of IBEW Local 134, Chicago.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Meersman of Palatine; daughter, Alana (Richard) Ashbrook of Eureka, Ill.; sons, Michael (Ann) Meersman of Palatine, Charles Meersman of Roscoe and Greg (Karen) Meersman of Palatine; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Donald (Joan) Meersman of Chicago and Robert (the late Marilyn) Meersman of Mount Prospect.

Herbert J. Peterson of Des Plaines
Services for Herbert J. Peterson, 84, a resident of Des Plaines for 52 years and formerly of Norwood Park, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at M. J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago.
Born May 6, 1914, in Chicago, he died Friday, March 12, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Peterson had a long and distinguished career starting in 1937 when he joined local businessman and philanthropist, Carl Clare, and became one of the founding employees of the C. P. Clare Company. During his more than 40 years of service, later as vice president of manufacturing, he was continuously responsible for all manufacturing of the precision electrical relay and switch company, which employed more than 3000 workers in 12 locations across the globe. Mr. Peterson was personally responsible for all aspects of the business, including concept, site selection, initial staffing and ongoing operations, for the company's facilities in Chicago and Mundelein, Ill., Fairview, N. C., Rapid City, S. D., Port Falls, Idaho, Nogales and Guadalahara, Mexico, Tongeron, Belgium, Toronto, Canada, and Chi Tu, Taiwan. In 1987 the governor of Illinois, James Thompson, was so impressed by the positive influence that the Clare Company had on Illinois business and industry, he declared April 7, 1987, to be Clare Day in Illinois.
Mr. Peterson retired from active involvement in the company in 1987, continuing for an additional year as a consultant and troubleshooter of other divisions of General Instrument Corporation which had acquired primary interest in the Clare Company in 1967.
Mr. Peterson was very active in the Des Plaines community and was a member of the Des Plaines Elks Club. He also maintained a close association with his high school classmates in a group known as the X32 Club, which met monthly for more than 67 years.
He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Doris Peterson (nee Richter); loving father of Linda (Bruce) Martin of Barrington and Jack (Arlene) Peterson of Costa Mesa, Calif.; proud grandfather of Tracy, John, Jennifer and Amy; fond brother of Alice Johnson, Harry and Richard Peterson, and the late Margaret Peterson; and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Frances Roehlk of St. Charles
A funeral Mass for Frances Roehlk, 77, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Patrick Church.
Born June 8, 1921, in Chicago, she died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, St. Charles.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Roehlk had been employed by the Illinois State Training School in Valley View for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in St. Charles and a volunteer at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva for many years.
Survivors include her son, Thomas (Elizabeth) Roehlk of Winter Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Lane and Miranda; brother, Howard Harrast; sister, Jeanne Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Roehlk.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles.

Alva R. Roeske of Arlington Heights
Private family services will be held for Alva R. Roeske, 82.
Born Feb. 13, 1917, in Chicago Heights, Ill., Mr. Roeske passed away Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare.
Employed for 50 years as an electrical engineer, he was a graduate of Lewis Institute and member of Arlington Heights Society of Modeling Engineers.
He was the husband of the late Winifred M.; father of Rodman (Bobbi) Roeske and Diane Roeske; and grandfather of Holly and Dana Roeske.
Arrangements were made by G. L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines.
Leo A. Romano of Des Plaines
Mass for Leo A. Romano, 79, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary's Church, Des Plaines.
Born July 6, 1919, in Chicago, he died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at his residence.
Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
Mr. Romano worked for 40 years as a barber in Chicago before retiring. He was a member of Des Plaines Elks Lodge #1526.
He was the husband of the late Mary (nee Fetizch); father of John (Paulette) Romano, Leo (Kathy) Romano and Mary Lou (Gary) Harrel; and grandfather of six.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.

Paulette R. Roth formerly of Elgin
Memorial services for Paulette R. Roth, 51, most recently of Las Vegas, Nev., will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating.
Born March 18, 1947, the daughter of Paul and Lorraine (nee Goy) Allemann, she passed away Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at her home. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Roth had lived in Elgin for her entire life before moving to Las Vegas a few years ago. She had owned and operated the Best in Hair Salon in West Dundee for a number of years, then moved to working for Better Living for Seniors.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Roth; sons, Donald (Michelle) Thrun of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Daniel and Timothy Thrun of Ingleside; daughter, Michelle (Dennis) Wille of Pond Creek, Okla.; stepsons, Steve (Tracey) Roth of Aurora and Jeff Roth of Vernon Hills; brother, Fredrick (Margaret) Garner of Elgin; sisters, Margaret (Don) Hutton of St. Charles, Edna (David) Mohl of Elgin and Anna Erdman of Elgin; nine grandchildren, Michael, Jacquline, Jimmy, Jesse, Joey, Kyle, Andrea, Stephen and Alana; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; a son in infancy; a grandson, Harlan, in infancy; a daughterin-law, Michiko; and aunts and uncles.

Jeffrey H. Schmidt of Batavia

Born April 17, 1954, to Arthur H. and Francis (nee Nelson) Schmidt, he passed away Saturday morning, March 13, 1999, at his home in Batavia. Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery.
Jeffrey was a 1972 graduate of Batavia High School and was employed by Amstedt's Finer Foods in Batavia.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Schmidt and son, Wesley Schmidt, both of Aurora; brothers, Jack (Diane) Schmidt of Geneva and Jay (Gina) Schmidt ofTampa, Fla.; sister, Judy (Dale) Osland; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Shawn Osland.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
