Mary Ellen Dwyer, age 90, of Lake Forest, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Lake Forest Place. Born November 22, 1918 in New York City, she resided in New Rochelle, New York, Chicago and Lake Forest, Illinois. She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Survivors include, two daughters, Maureen Dwyer Smith (Edward Byron) of Jupiter Island, Florida and Lake Forest, Illinois and Mary Ellen Mason (Rick) of Lake Forest and two sons, John F. Dwyer, Jr. (Susan) of Plymouth, Massachusetts & Los Angeles, California and Kevin M. Dwyer (Ann) of Lake Forest. She had nine grandchildren Edward Byron Smith, III, Peter Byron Smith, Richard Mason, II, Amanda Mason, Ivan Dwyer, Max Dwyer, Julia Dwyer, John Ryan Dwyer & Patrick Dwyer and two great grandchildren, Molly Mason Ahrens and Nathan Charles Byron Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Dwyer. Her greatest love was her family, particularly entertaining at large family gatherings. Her other interests were sewing, reading, & gardening. She had a career in publishing in New York before her marriage and later was associated with the Antiquarian Society of the Art Institute and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. She was a woman of deep faith who was known for her intelligence and sense of humor and will be deeply missed by many. She leaves behind an inspirational legacy of charity, devotion, numerous friends and a beautiful spirit. Contributions may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities of Lake County, 671 S. Bert was born Jan. 17, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio. U.S. Army Veteran of WWII with international service. Founder of Bert Herskee & Associates, Commercial Real Estate (1971 to present) Member of the American Legion McKinlock Post 264, Lake Forest, IL. Active over the years as a Shriner & Mason, an accomplished 4th Degree Blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do and was a widely recognized expert in shooting sports and as a qualified NRA instructor.
Husband of Elinore Warren Herskee. Father of Andrew J. (Tricia) Herskee of Warwick, NY, Ann E. (Geoff) Jewett of Mill Valley, CA and the late Marilyn Milliken. Grandfather of Cathy Dillon, Michael Jewett, Daniel Herskee, Sarah Wattenberg, Kevin Jewett and Katie Jewett. Great Grandfather of Michael Dillon.

Aidan I. Mullett, 83, of Lake Forest, died Dec. 8, 2009. He was the proud and devoted husband of Margaret Ferguson and was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Carney Mullett (1975); father of Jean M. (Ronald) Forster, Aidan M. (Peggy) Mullett and Peter C. Mullett, stepfather of Peter B. (Elizabeth) Barker, Lee B. (David H.) Savinar and Frances B. Hodge. Adoring grandfather of nine: Katherine C. Forster, Peter A. Forster, Casey J. Mullett, Scout B. Mullett, Charles H. Savinar, William B. Savinar, Alexandra B. Barker and Henry B. Hodge. Son of the late Dr. Aidan & Julia Mary Mullett. Brother of Roderick O. Mullett and the late Brian J. Mullett. Aidan was born on March 13, 1926 in Lake Placid, NY and has been a resident of Lake Forest for the past 54 yrs. He graduated from Canterbury School in 1944, served in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Yale University in 1949 and received his MBA from the University of Denver in 1951. Aidan joined Price Waterhouse in 1951, became a partner in 1963 and retired in 1986. He then joined Carney Management as Managing Member in 1986 and retiring in 2007. Aidan served as an Alderman of Lake Forest from 1967-1973 becoming Mayor from 1973-1975, as Chairman of the Cradle Society from 1990-1994, board member of Superior Graphite from 1991-2006. Member of the Old Elm Club, Onwentsia Club and Shore Acres Club. Funeral mass 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest, IL 60045. Loomis Ives Lincoln, 85, a resident of Lake Forest, IL for 53 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2009 surrounded by family members. Born December 19, 1924 in Springfield, MA to Edward Converse and Lucretia Loomis Lincoln, “Loo” was raised in Longmeadow, MA. He attended the Loomis-Chafee school (’42) and Williams College (’46) where he was a member of the squash team and Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Loo proudly served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1945 where he trained as a P-47 fighter pilot. Upon completion of his military service, he finished his studies at Williams and then began a career as a sales and marketing representative with the Whitney Blake Company in New Haven, CT. He was transferred to Chicago in 1956 where he met and married
Gwendolyn Osborne of Lake Forest in 1957. Loo retired as partner at Lincoln, Hodges & Associates in 1993 and resided in Lake Forest for more than 53 years. Loo was an avid athlete and enjoyed skiing and racquet sports. He was a former Illinois State Squash Doubles champion and was well known for his artful precision on the tennis court where he enjoyed many of his life long friendships. A crafty and good natured competitor, Loo was recognized for his graciousness both on and off the court. A longtime member of the Onwentsia Club, Loo was instrumental in the development and expansion of the Club’s racquets program and served on the Board of Governors from 1986-1996. Loo was also a volunteer for local charitable organizations including the United Way and Lake Forest Hospital and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. In addition to his wife Gwen, he is survived by two sons, Michael O. Lincoln (Liz), Loomis Ives Lincoln, Jr. (Amy) and daughter Leslie Lincoln Hough (John); all of Lake Forest, Illinois as well as his brother Edward C. (Tedd) Lincoln of Pine Island, FL and sister Sarah Harrison of Marblehead, MA. Loo was also affectionately known as “Grampy” to seven grandchildren including Kelsey, Caitlin and Clarke Hough; Lucy, Peter and Will Lincoln and Loomis Ives Lincoln, III. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2009 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 East Westminster Road, Lake Forest. The family is especially grateful to all of the caregivers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter for their expertise, kindness, and compassion.
