Richard B. Kuseski of Lake Bluff, born February 5, 1937, passed away August 14, 2008. Beloved husband of Ann; dear brother of Allen Kuseski and brother-in-law of Thomas Ekovich; fond uncle of Christopher and Jeffrey Kuseski and James and Mary Ekovich. A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and John Marshall Law School, Dick practiced law in Lake County for forty-five years, most recently at Lesser, Lutrey and McGlynn in Lake Forest. He gave generously of his time to many charitable causes, but the one dearest to his heart was the Special Olympics, especially coaching the residents of the Lambs Farm in preparation for the Olympics. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the first recipient of Catholic Charities of Lake County’s Founders Award. He served on the board of the Academy of Our Lady, the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Senior Center, St. Martin de Porres High School and the Illinois Seniors Golf Association. Visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Avenue, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Bess Klisch, 94 of Lake Bluff passed away at Claridge Healthcare Center in Lake Bluff on July 18, 2008. Born in Cincinnati, OH July 13, 1914, Bess moved with her family to Chicago at a very young age. In 1950 she moved to Knollwood, IL with her husband Henry and daughter Judith. Bess was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Lake Forest for fifty-eight years. She was a pioneer of the Knollwood Fire Dept. Auxiliary and had involvement in many neighborhood activities. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Ben) Merry; Grandsons Mark (Jeanne) Merry & Matthew (Hilleary) Merry; and two granddaughters Julianna & Jennifer. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry and her brother Julian Kirutza. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday July 21, 2008 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest. Strachan Donnelley

Strachan Donnelley DONNELLEY--Strachan, a passionate conservationist, philosopher, fly-fisherman, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and lover of all things natural, died peacefully on Saturday, July 12th, 2008 at his home in Manhattan, NY from gastric cancer. Strachan, son of the late Gaylord Donnelley, former president and chairman of the Chicago-based printing company R.R. Donnelley & Sons, and Dorothy Donnelley, was 66 years old. Up until the time of his death, Strachan continued to serve as Founder and President of the Center for Humans and Nature, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to explore and promote moral and civic responsibilities to human communities and to natural ecosystems and landscapes. Strachan received his B.A. in English Literature from Yale University in 1964, studied philosophy at University College Oxford University from 1964-1967, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy in 1972 and 1977, respectively, from the New School for Social Research. Prior to founding the Center in 2002, Strachan worked at the Hastings Center, the noted nonprofit bioethics research institute in Garrison, NY (1986-2002), and served as its President from 1996-1999. At the time of his death, Strachan was a trustee on the following boards of directors: the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation (chairman emeritus), the American Museum of Natural History, The Land Institute, The University of Chicago, the New School for Social Research, the National Humanities Center (trustee emeritus), Sarah Lawrence College (honorary trustee), The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (life trustee). He was also active on the Advisory Committees of the following boards: the Yale Institute of Biospheric Studies, the American Fisheries Foundation, the Coldwater Conservation Fund (Trout Unlimited), Human Rights Watch, World Wildlife Fund, Christ College (Valparaiso University), the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and the Aldo Leopold Foundation. In the months preceding his death, Strachan worked closely with cherished colleagues on Living Waters, Magic Mountains: Explorations of a Flyfishing Philosopher, an anthology of his professional essays to be published posthumously. Strachan's lively spirit and wildness will continue to thrive in his six Donnelley women: his wife of 40 years, Vivian, and his five daughters, Inanna, Naomi, Aidan, Ceara and Tegan, and in the life and laughter of his five (almost six) grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Laura and brother Elliott. Strachan will live on in the winds and waters of his favorite places the family home in Mill River, Massachusetts, The Coleman Lake Club in Northern Wisconsin, Ashepoo Plantation in Green Pond, South Carolina, and Windblown Hill, his childhood family farm, in Libertyville, Illinois, where a private family funeral will be held on Thursday, July 17th, 2008. Strachan will be celebrated among family, friends, and colleagues at a public memorial service on Saturday, July 19th at 10 am at Fullerton Hall, the Art Institute of Chicago and at a second memorial service in Manhattan in the fall. Rose Leonard, nee Weber, 72, of Lake Bluff, IL, former resident of Fond du Lac and Green Bay, WI, passed on July 6, 2008. She was born on November 18, 1935 to Edmund and Adelheid (nee Schmitt) Weber at Marytown in northeastern Fond du Lac County, WI where she grew up. She attended New Holstein High school and graduated from Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI with a degree in Medical Technology. On August 11, 1956 she married Charles F. Leonard at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marytown, WI. Mrs. Leonard spent over 40 years as an ASCP Registered Medical Technologist serving numerous Clinics and Hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois, as well as several Corporate, University and Government Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Research facilities. She specialized in Hematology including Bone Marrow analyses; Laboratory Automation and Quality Control; and Medical Laboratory Management. Rose also served as a Minster of Care for the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest, IL. Survivors include her husband, Charles F. Leonard, Lake Bluff, IL; one son, Fred Leonard and his family of Roselle, IL; two brothers and sisters in law: Mike and Kathy Weber, Marytown, WI., Alfred (Fritz) and Sally Weber, Portales, New Mexico; one sister and brother in law: Ann and Larry Schmidtke, Green Bay, WI., sister in law Kathleen Weber, Malone, WI., and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edmund Weber, Jr.; one brother in law, Tony Leonard; her in laws, Fred and Lina Leonard; and aunts and uncles. Visitation 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.
