HENRY J. FORTIER
Henry Joseph Fortier, 88, died June 25, 2015 at his Oak Lawn home.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. today (July 2), followed by 10:30 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills. Interment will be private.
Mr. Fortier was a structural engineer for Ceco Corp. for 35 years, before retiring to Ft. Myers, Fla., 20 years ago.
He was an active volunteer in his church and with his children’s activities, and more recently with his church, retirement community and Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his daughters, Lesley (Jim) Jercich and Jill (Rick) Engel; sons, Dr. Glen (Michelle), Dr. Paul (Susan), Gary (Melissa), Philip (Moira), Dennis (Cindy) and Christopher (Heidi) Fortier; and 19 grandchildren.
Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
CHARLES E. MAURER
Charles E. Maurer of Chicago Ridge, a retired lieutenant in the Chicago Ridge Fire Department, died June 23 at Palos Community Hospital. He was 74.
Services were June 26 from Schmaedeke Funeral Home to Our Lady of the Ridge Church.
Interment was at Holy Sepulchre cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Maurer; sons, Charles Jr. and Tom (Prudence) Maurer; daughters, Beck (David) Pluister and Cheryl (Bob) Zalatoris; sister, Barbara White; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
CATHERINE TUCKER
Catherine Tucker (nee Schwellenbach), 97, formerly of Palos Hills, died June 23, 2015 at Mother Teresa Home in Lemont.
Services were June 26 from Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills.
Mrs. Tucker, a retired office clerk, had eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Wind and Mary Lou (Thomas) Rasmussen; sons, Leonard (Margaret) and Lawrence (Patti). Tucker; 10 grandchildren; and 15 grandchildren.
Sandra Kay Cooper
Sandra Kay Cooper (nee Boron), 73, an Oak Lawn resident, died April 8, 2015 at Northwestern Hospital.
Services were held April 11 at Kosary Funeral Home in Evergreen Park. Interment was private.
Survivors include her sons, Timothy (Julia) and Michael Cooper; granddaughters Kaylee and Sara; sister, Barbara Schoemehl; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cooper, a homemaker formerly of Apple Canyon Lake, Ill., was a member of Evergreen Park American Legion Post 854 Ladies Auxiliary.
Vytautas Rasytinis
Vytautas Rasytinis, 85, of Oak Lawn died April 2, 2015 in his home.
Visitation and funeral services were held at Nativity BVM Church in Chicago followed by interment St. Casimir Lithuanian cemetery.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Rasytinis is survived by children Vaiva and Aldis and grandson Richard.
Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, Mr. Rasytinas worked for many years as a printer at Bockman Printing-Bellwood and was a member of the Don Varnas American Legion Post.
Anna Mae K. Warywoda
Anna Mae K. Warywoda, 72, of Palos Hills died April 1, 2015 in LaGrange.
Private funeral services were held at Zarzycki Manor Chapels in Chicago.
Warywoda is survived by children Jerry (Christine) Warywoda and Rose (Gary) Oremus; grandchildren Magnus and Diesel; brother Thomas Sheehan; and brother-in-law Joseph Warywoda.
Warywoda was retired after working as an office manager at an auto dealership.
Kenneth R. Holdcroft
Kenneth R. Holdcroft, 53, of Worth died Saturday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
An Oak Lawn native, Mr. Holdcroft is survived by sons David, Andrew and Alexander; sisters Bonnie (Dale) Wheeler, Diane Holdcroft and Kathleen (Gordon) Hussa; niece Elizabeth and nephew Michael.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 S. Southwest Highway in Palos Hills.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Tobias Bergmann
Tobias Bergmann, 99, of Palos Hills died Feb. 16, 2015 in his home.
Visitation and funeral services were held Feb. 25 at Schmaedeke Funeral Home in Worth. Burial was at Evergreen cemetery in Evergreen Park.
A native of Yugoslavia, Mr. Bergmann is survived by daughter Katharina Rosmanitz, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Shirley A. Gil
Shirley A. Gil, 83, of Palos Hills died Feb. 21, 2015.
Mrs. Gil is survived by several nieces and nephews and cousin Virginia Anderson.
Visitation was held at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home in Palos Hills.
A funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart church in Palos Hills. Entombment was Resurrection cemetery.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Gil worked in packaging industry.
She was active at Sacred Heart parish.
