Hazel I. Brown, 82, of 514 S. Campbell St. in Macomb, died at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1917, in McDonough County, to George and Dora Black Rigg. She married
Joe Brown Feb, 22, 1938, in Warsaw. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sara Jo) Guy of Tennessee, Barbara Brown of Macomb and Mrs. Gary (Judy) Everhart of Bollingbrook; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Rolls, Elbert, Eldon, Keith and Howard in infancy.
Mrs. Brown lived all her married
life in Macomb. She was a secretary at MacArthur School in Macomb for 20 years before her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Macomb, Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Macomb Singing Seniors.
She was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Group of the church as well as the church youth groups and Bible school. In her early years, she was a member of Fandon Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 30, at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, with Rev. Ernest Louderman and Rev. Susan Coller officiating. Burial was at Camp Creek cemetery in Industry Township.

M. Opal Rice
M. Opal Rice, age 83, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, 801 West Martin Street, Abingdon, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Nov. 19, 1916 at Pocahontas, Ark., the daughter of Samuel and Mary Jane VanWinkle. She married
Marion Rice on March 15, 1953 in Pocahontas. They were divorced
She is survived by one son, John Rice, of Arizona; one daughter, Diana Edmonds, West Plaines, Mo.; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She had lived in Abingdon since 1958.
She had worked at the former Blue Bell Manufacturing in Abingdon. She later worked for many years as a Nurses Aide at the Abingdon Nursing Home when it opened in 1965 retiring in 1979.
She was a member of Church of Christ in Abingdon.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon.
Burial was in the Abingdon cemetery.

Ruby M. Chockley
Ruby M. Chockley, 76, of rural Industry, died at 10:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Schuyler County to Emory and Eva Allen Quesenberry. She married
Leo H. Chockley June 10, 1940, in Paris, Mo. He survives.
She also is survived by two brothers, Robert Quesenberry of Huntsville and Emory Quesenberry Jr. of Hamilton; one son, Larry Chockley of Fort Myers, Fla.; three daughters, Marjorie Snowden of Farmington, Norma Hudson of Mount Joy, Penn., and Diana Kuehn of Evansville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert Lee Chockley.
She lived most of her life in the Industry area where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Rushville Assembly of God Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Industry cemetery in Industry with the Rev. Marvin Chockley officiating. There will be no family visitation.

Russell F. Lawson
Russell F. Lawson, age 80, of 10735 E. Eagle Pass Rd., Ellisville, Illinois, passed away at 10:47 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Galesburg.
He was born Jan. 6, 1920 in Ellisville the son of Jay Marion and Eve L. Knott Lawson. He married
Mildred L. Snider in 1938 in Canton, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 28, 1961.
Survivors include one son, Gary Lawson, Ellisville; two brothers, John B. Lawson of Bushnell and Woodrow Lawson, of Miami, Florida; one grandson, Garrett Lawson, Ellisville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Frances Lawson and two brothers.
He farmed in the Ellisville area.
He was a member of the American Hereford Association.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Dr. Robert Holler officiating.
Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Ruth Kats
Ruth E. Kats, age 92, of Avon, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 1999, at Avon Nursing Home.
Born May 1, 1907, in Pittsburgh to Claude C., and Ida May Fleck Halliwell, she married
Joe B. Kats on September 25, 1928.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry (and Beverly) of Peoria and Ralph (and Charlotte) of Louisville, Kentucky; one daughter, Peggy (and James) Manuel of Avon; three sisters, Christine Murdock of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Theone Siebers of Hales Corners, Wisconsin, and Claudine Ragner of Dousman, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
One son, James, one granddaughter; and one sister preceded her in death.
She was secretary to the mayor of West Allis, Wisconsin. She later moved to Peoria, where she worked at Block and Kuhl and in the housewares department at Carson Pirie Scott, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Peoria.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Corman Memorial Home in Avon with Reverend Jon Prain officiating.
Cremation was accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Florence J. Rinker
Florence J. Rinker, 94, Galesburg, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 1998, in All Saints Nursing Home, Jacksonville, FL.
She was born June 26, 1904, in Galesburg, the daughter of Clarence and Blanche Mitchell Jennings.
She married
Lowell E. Rinker on July 9, 1927, in Galesburg. He died August 16, 1967.
Surviving are one nephew, Roy E. Ryscamp, Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Gertrude Gard, also of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Rinker, and by one brother and two sisters.
She was a graduate of Avon High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, at her church with the Rev. Paul Stiene officiating. Rosary was prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial was in St. Augustine Catholic cemetery, St. Augustine. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James W. Boyer
James W. 'Bo' Boyer, 69, Abingdon, passed away at 2:23 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 1998, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born January 30, 1929, in rural Abingdon, the son of J. Vernon and Hilma Roberts Boyer. He married
Jane McKinley. He later married
Sandra Sloan Cox in Virginia, IL, on October 16, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim Boyer of Pleasant Plains, IL, and Brad Boyer of Denmark, IA; one daughter, Vicki Gray of Abingdon; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Larry Boyer of Abingdon, Danny Boyer of London Mills; five sisters, Marna Johnson and Wanita Way, both of Abingdon, Peggy Thomas of St. Augustine, Jackie Timberlake of Phoenix, AZ, and Holly Powell of Avon; aunts, uncles, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
He had lived in the Abingdon area all of his life and graduated from Abingdon High School. He worked for Admiral Division of Maytag for 36 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of Illinois Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Foundation.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 21, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, with the Rev. Danny Hunt officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
