Dorothy Land
LAWRENCEVILLE — Dorothy Mae Land, 77, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at United Methodist Village. She had a heart condition.
She was retired school nurse for Vanderburgh County School Corp. in Evansville.
She earned an associate degree in nursing from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee University and a masters degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
She attended United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Grace Kocher and Marjorie Fisher, both of Lawrenceville; two brothers, Joe of Lawrenceville and Jack of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Vilage Chapel, with burial in Lawrenceville cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the chapel.

Katherine Litherland
LAWRENCEVILLE — Katherine Litherland, 101, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Lawrenceville Manor.
She was a member of Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio.
Surviving are six grandchildren, Irene Saltsgaver, Mary Ann Ice, Claudia Jacobs, Jo Anne Graham and Gordon and David Litherland; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo, and three sons, Byard, Bernard and Claude.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wabash Presbyterian Church cemetery in Orio.

Thelma King Vaughn
LAWRENCEVILLE — Thelma Marie King Vaughn, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Lawrenceville Manor.
She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Christian Church in Robinson.
Surviving are a daughter, Norma Lee Waggoner Jones of Lawrenceville; a sister, Ida E. Miller of Robinson; a brother, Donald King of Marysville, Calif.; a granddaughter, Jan Marie Welsh; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, with burial in Oblong cemetery.

William Trout
ROBINSON — William Elmer Trout, 93, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.
He had worked for 38 years for Marathon Oil Co. and retired in 1974 as shift foreman of the power plant.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday school.
Surviving are three daughters, Leabelle Fuller of Palestine, Darlene Lionberger of Lawrenceville and Lynette Trout of Champaign; a son, Don of Robinson; a sister, Avonelle Duell of Fort Edwards, N.Y.; three brothers, Joe of Martinsville, Jim of Onekama, Mich., and Lawrence of Sebring, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lynda McFelia, Mary Kay McMullin and Mac Allen Fuller; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
His wife, Bonnie Belle (Rich), died in 1992.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in Robinson New cemetery.

Mary Paine
CARMI — Mary Paine, 81, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at White County Medical Center.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Walker of DeSoto, Texas, and Linda Kay Roberts of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons, Stephen Salmon of Midland, Texas, and Dennis Lee Paine of Longwood, Fla.; a brother, Kelly Pyle of Carmi; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Dennis P., died in 1973.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in Kingdom cemetery.

JOHNSONVILLE — Stanley Martin, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ill., of respiratory failure.
He had been a farmer and worked in a factory.
He was a member and deacon of the Brush Creek Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Zenith, Ill.
Surviving are his wife Annabelle; a son, Gary L. of Johnsonville; his mother, Mildred Robnett of Sterling; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brush Creek Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Zenith, with burial in the church cemetery.

HARRISBURG — Richard L. Trail, 57, died Thursday, Nov.2, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was a truck driver and a Marine Corps veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Dianne (Dudley); four daughters, Sherry Broadbent of Henderson, Judy Gillard of Abilene, Texas, and JayCee and Meshia Starness, both of Harrisburg; a son, Richard Lee of Greenville, Texas; a sister, Shirley Lewis of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Jack of Minot, N.D., and James of Owensville, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.

HARRISBURG — Mildred T. Deering, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at her home of emphysema.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wayne, a daughter, Carol Beth Deering, and two sons, Gary and Jack.

LAWRENCEVILLE — Louis S. Roberts, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Lawrenceville Manor.
He worked as a rigger for 32 years for Texaco Oil Co.
He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Rosie Audene (Green); two daughters, Ginger Lewis and Vicki Clem, both of rural Lawrenceville; a son, Richard of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Mary Weger of Rapid City, S.D., and Betty Heath of rural Lawrenceville; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

CISNE — Noah Spicer, 91, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Wayfair Restorium in Fairfield.
He retired as the custodian for Johnsonville Grade School and was a member of Johnsonville Methodist Church and Cisne Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel C. (Ellis); three sons, Leon of Hermitage, Tenn., Freddie of Lake Charles, La., and Steve of Cisne; a sister, Nola Becker of Fox Lake; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
