OBLONG — Bruce F. Wood, 44, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana of congestive heart failure.
He was a truck driver for Dart Transit.
He was an Army veteran and member of the St. Marie American Legion. He attended Berlin Church in rural Oblong.
Surviving are his wife, Melody; a daughter, Misty Gillaspy of Hutsonville; a son, Shane Crouch of Robinson; his mother, Lois Nichols of Aberdeen, N.C.; a sister, Pam Smith of Hoffman, N.C.; a brother, Leon of Oblong; a granddaughter, Autumn Crouch; and a niece and nephew.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Pulliam Funeral Home, with burial in Berlin cemetery pending.
Lena Leathers
GRAYVILLE — Lena Leathers, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Provena United Samaritan’s Medical Center in Danville.
She retired as a grocery store clerk and was a member of the Grayville First Christian Church and Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Robert Jr. of Danville; a sister, Georgia Broyles of Grayville; two grandchildren, Tammy M. Hoffman and Terry E. Leathers; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert E. “Bob” Sr., died in 1988.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home Grayville Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Violet Kimmel
NORRIS CITY — Violet Kimmel, 81, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at her home.
Surviving are a daughter, Treva Garlick of Norris City; two sons, Quintin of Woodlawn and Mike of Florence, Miss.; a sister, Berniece Devoy of McLeansboro; two brothers, Dalton and Doyle Blake, both of Carmi; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Her husband, Ralph, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Edna Bosecker
MOUNT CARMEL — Edna J. Bosecker, 88, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Oakview Heights Continuing Care.
She was a member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Teddy E. of Bellmont; three grandchildren, Natalie Eichhorst, Tony and Tracey Bosecker; and a great-grandson.
Her husband, Ervin, died in 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Home, with burial in Graceland cemetery in Albion.

ROBINSON — Roger Dean “Dawg” Phillips, 48, of Ripley, Tenn., died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Ripley of sleep apnea and a heart condition.
He was a journeyman machinist, working for Seigel-Roberts of Tennessee, and had worked at Precision Plastics in Crawfordsville, Ind.
He was a graduate of Job Core Man Power Training and ITT Technical School.
He was a member of the Eagles and social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Christy Weger of Robinson; a stepdaughter, Nicole Davenport of Crawfordsville, Ind.; a stepson, Chad Davenport of Crawfordsville; his stepfather, Robert “Bob” Cross of Robinson; a step sister, Kathy McLaughlin of Lovington, N.M.; a stepbrother, Alan Cross of Aurora; a granddaughter, Jordyn Weger of Robinson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pulliam Funeral Home, with burial in Robinson New cemetery.

Viola Padgett
SHAWNEETOWN — Viola Padgett, 81, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was a member of Shawneetown General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Neva Rushing of Shawneetown; a sister, Mary Ruth Sanders of Evansville; and a granddaughter, Samantha.
Her husband, Virgil, died in 1989.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shawneetown General Baptist Church, with burial in Westwood cemetery.

Russell Downen
WAYNE CITY — Russell Downen, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.
He had been a farmer. He was a member of the Ellis Mound Church and a Mason.
Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Schneider of Illinois, Brenda Irwin of Mill Shoals and Carolyn Stutts of Wayne City; five sons, Jim of Yukon, Okla., Gary, Don and Gene, all of Wayne City, and Bob of Illinois; five sisters, Mabel Austin, Lola McCormick, Cora Hutchcraft, Claris Rawls and Dorothy Hedden, all of Wayne City; 24 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Felma (Fenton) and an infant son.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Hopewell cemetery.

KEENSBURG — Mary Reba Patton, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Oak View Heights Rehabilitation Center in Mount Carmel.
Surviving are her husband, Melvin; three sons, Melvin Don of Dubois, Ind., Ed and Thurmon, both of Keensburg; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, with burial in Bethel cemetery in Bellmont.

NORRIS CITY — Michelle Ann Mulikey, 31, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at her home of heart failure.
Surviving are a daughter, Katie Oliver of Norris City; a son, Sean Flanagan of Norris City; her mother and stepfather, Sharon K. and Jim Harrell of St. Peters, Mo.; her father, Russell Mulikey Sr. of Greenfield, Wis.; two sisters, Kim and Mary Harrell of St. Peters; four brothers, Russell Jr. and Jim Mulikey and Steve Harrell, all of St. Peters, Steve Mulikey of Imperial, Mo.; and grandparents, Art Layman and Gladys Chamineak.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buchholtz Mortuary in St. Peters, Mo., with burial at 9 a.m. Friday in Odd Fellows cemetery in Norris City.

ROBINSON — Maxine Marie “Pepper” Miller Pasek, 79, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center.
She retired in 1985 as a department supervisor for the Federal Signs and Signal Corp. in Blue Island.
She was a member of Crawford County Humane Society, Robinson Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion ladies auxiliaries, Women of the Moose and attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Irene Dunn of Robinson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in the Robinson New cemetery.

EQUALITY — Esther (Holland) Turk, 91, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Hamilton County Hospital in McLeansboro.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. Her husband, Anton, died in 1992.

SHAWNEETOWN — Louise Jester, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado of heart failure.
She was a high school teacher.
Surviving are her husband, Roy; two sons, Kent of Junction and Kevin of Shawneetown; three grandchildren, Kenny and Gary Jester and Teresa Crissup; and five great-grandchildren.
