LAWRENCEVILLE — Ruth A. Bostic, 63, died of complications of cancer Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at her home.
She had been a supervisor at Central Industries in Lawrenceville and had worked there more than 30 years.
Surviving are her husband, Andy; a daughter, Pamela Bostic of Indianapolis; two brothers, James DeLong of Carmi and John DeLong of Maunie; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home, with burial in Marshall Ferry cemetery at Rising Sun.

McLEANSBORO — Imogean May, 65, of Delafield, died of heart failure Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at her home.
She was a caregiver for the Community Care of Fairfield and attended Smith Church near Dale.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Edward of McLeansboro; a daughter, Susan Rutger of Salem; four sons, Garry of Benton, Larry of Pontiac, Mich., Gerald “Andy” of McLeansboro and David Alan of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Noah Manuel Denton and Larry Wilson, both of Pontiac; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harre Funeral Home, with burial in Smith cemetery near Dale.

ALBION — Hattie Elliott, 94, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Richard Hamler
ALLENDALE — Richard Hamler, 96, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Heritage Manor in Gibson City.
He was a school teacher and coach and a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie (Mundy); two sisters, Edythe Shepard of Orio and Elizabeth White of Dallas; a brother, Bruce of Rome, Ga.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home, with burial in Wabash Presbyterian cemetery in Orio.
There will be no visitation.
Mary Sizemore
LAWRENCEVILLE — Mary Sizemore, 81, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of St. James A.M.E.
Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Shane of Evansville and Diane Bridges of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Bessie Tabron of Fort Wayne; a brother, Robert Portee of Los Angeles; grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Portee cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Smith Funeral Home.
Randall Hawkins
DALE — Randall Guy Hawkins, 37, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at his home of gunshot wounds.
He was a correctional officer at the Pinckneyville Correctional Center, where he was a member of the AFSCME union. He also had been a police officer for 14 years in El Paso, Texas, and a deputy sheriff for Hamilton County.
He was a member of Church of Christ in El Paso.
Surviving are his wife, Lourdes (Soto); two sons, Justin of Decatur, Texas, and Tristan Edward of Dale; his mother, Marilyn Sue Hawkins of Mount Vernon; a sister, Deborah Christopher of Mount Vernon; his grandfather, Howard Taylor; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with burial in Cartwright cemetery near McLeansboro.

Ethel Titus
ROBINSON — Ethel Euphemia Titus, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Crawford County Convalescent Center.
She worked 20 years in candy production at L.S. Heath and Sons.
She was a member of First Assembly Church of God.
Surviving are a sister, Bessie McCormick of Robinson; and nieces and a nephew.
Her husband, Howard, died in 1984.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Goodwine Funeral Home Robinson Chapel, with burial in Prairie cemetery.

Vernon Michels
ALBION — Vernon C. Michels, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
He was a retired farmer, a youth leader and church office holder at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, a member of Zions Hill Camp board of directors, Farm Bureau and Tri-County Coon Club and a former Edwards County commissioner.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurene M. Conners of Murphysboro and Debera M. Metcalf of Albion; a son, Lawrence of Ellery; two brothers, James of Albion and Francis of Litchfield; six grandchildren, Michel B. Conner, Gerald, Rodney and Marcus Michels, Russell Fewkes and Daniel Metcalf; and four great-grandchildren.
His wife, Genevieve A. (Cowling), died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home Albion Chapel, with burial in Mount Zion cemetery in Edwards County.

‘Gene’ Higgins
CARMI — C. E. “Gene” Higgins, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at home of heart failure.
He was a welder in construction and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
He received the Outstanding Boss award in 1971 for his support of the Jaycees. He helped create the city softball association in Albion, Mich. He was president of the association and helped build the ballparks.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Margery Ann; a daughter, Kathryn Jean Trout of Albion, Mich.; a son, Dana Scott Higgins of Marshall, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Karrah Jean Trout and Daniel and Andrew Higgins.
Arrangements are pending at Campbell Funeral Home.
Lyle Riddell
OBLONG — Lyle Scott Riddell, 50, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at home of pulmonary congestion.
He was a laborer at Harvester Silos in DeKalb, a member of Rochelle Baptist Church and a computer buff.
Surviving are his mother, Lucille of Oblong; two sisters, Helen Deloris Cipolla of Rochelle and Patricia Lorraine Hector of Billings, Mont.; a brother, Earl Deane King of Westfield, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong Chapel. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn cemetery in Creston.

HARRISBURG — Bessie Gauwitz, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at home.

MOUNT CARMEL — Tim Birkla, 30, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of injuries suffered in an auto accident.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Eagles and Sons of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Jammie (Hicks); his parents, Joy (Hall) and Ron Birkla of Mount Carmel; two sisters, Jeri Linn Parr of Mount Carmel and Darla Rigsby of Enid, Okla.; and two brothers, Ronnie Lee Birkla Jr. and Thomas Compton, both of Mount Carmel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Short Funeral Home chapel, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.
