MARTINSVILLE, Ill. - Lily Rodgers, 94, of Martsinville died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in the Burnside Nursing Home. She was born May 9, 1908, in Edgar County to Charles Lewis and Estella Welch Hollingsworth. Her husband, George Merritt Rodgers, whom she married

Lucille Stone
PARIS, Ill. - Lucille Stone, 91, of Paris died at 4:25 a.m. Sunday Dec. 15, 2002, in Burnsides Nursing Home in Marshall. She was born March 9, 1911, in Elbridge Township, Edgar County to Hershel Rhoads and Stella Morton Rhoads. Her husband, Chester Stone, whom she married
March 16, 1936, died Dec. 14, 1999. Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Pennington and her husband, Charles Pennington of Paris; one brother-in-law, Charles Stone of Marshall; four sisters-in-law, Nellie Elledge of West Union, Wilma Stone of Paris, Hilda Rhoads of Marshall and Edith Stone of Elgin; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother; and one sister. She was a member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau, a member of First Christian Church in Marshall, and played the piano at the Nevins Christian Church for over 50 years. She also taught Sunday School. Services are 10 a.m. CST Wednesday in Sutton & Son Funeral Home. Burial is in Edgar cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. CST Tuesday.
Richard 'Bud' Myles
MARSHALL, Ill. - Richard "Bud" Myles, 74, of Marshall died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He retired from Velsicol Chemical Corp. of Marshall after 36 1/2 years, then did carpenter work in the Marshall area. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Marshall to Charles Myles and Ruth Cunningham Myles. Survivors include his wife, Nila Fern Spencer Myles, whom he married
Oct. 19, 1951, in Marshall; two daughters, Ruth Lisella and husband Tom of Marshall and Jill Jones of Georgetown; one son, Jack Myles of Marshall; three grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Bryan Jones and Daniel Lisella; one brother, John Myles of Marshall; and one sister, Josephine Lett of Florida. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. Services are 10:30 a.m. CST Friday in Pearce Funeral Home, with Brother Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. WEST UNION, ILL. - Mary E. Spittler Macke, 89, of rural West Union died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, in Burnsides Nursing Home in Marshall, Ill. She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in Anderson Township, Clark County, Ill., to David Spittler and Edna Kelly Spittler. She married
Arnold C. Macke on May 11, 1940. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1999. Survivors include five sons, Joe Macke and his wife, Betty, Ken Macke and his wife, Eleanor, all of rural West Union, John Macke and his wife, Patty, Dr. Steve Macke and his wife, Beth, all of Marshall, and David Lynn Macke of Denver; two daughters, Alice Schroeder and her husband, Joe, of Marshall, and Sue Shaw and her husband, Dr. Lloyd Shaw, of Woodstock, Ill.; one sister, Margret Rhoads of Oakland, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kelly Spittler, Luther Spittler and Truman Spittler; and two sisters, Lillie Davison and Rose Arney. She was a homemaker who also taught school for seven years in the Martinsville, Ill., area. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Marshall and had attended Brick United Methodist Church of rural West Union. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Daughters of the American Revolution, Walter Burdick Chapter. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in Brick United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial is in Walnut Prairie cemetery, northeast of West Union. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel and 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday in the church. EFFINGHAM, ILL. - Max E. Melton, 82, of Effingham, Ill., formerly of Marshall, Ill., died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill. Cremation was scheduled. Graveside memorial services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bradbury cemetery with military rites performed by Clark County American Legion Post 90 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975. MARSHALL, ILL. - Aretta B. Wallace, 70, of Marshall, Ill., died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Union Hospital. She was retired from TRW in Marshall after 45 years of service. She was born June 30, 1937, in Marshall to Edward Wallace and Mary Ella Garner Wallace. Survivors include several nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Katie Washburn, Lucille Schaffer, Reba Fessenbeck and Rosalene Wallace; and four brothers, Willard Wallace, Edward Wallace, Bill Wallace and Fred Wallace. ROBINSON, Ill. - Mary Griswold, 96, of Robinson, Ill., died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center. She was a homemaker. She was born Aug. 12, 1907, in Porterville, Ill., to Wilfred Evans and Lillie Myers Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ray Griswold, in 1986. Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Deardorff and husband, John, of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Jodi Fish and husband, Scott, of Terre Haute, and Ric Deardorff and wife, Amanda, of Greenwood; two great-grandchildren, Mikaela Fish and Justin Fish, both of Terre Haute; one sister, Florence Ubaudi of Decatur, Ala., and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Jane Griswold; one sister, Rachel Lawrence; and three brothers, Ellis Evans, Clyde Evans and Ralph Evans. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Robinson. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with the Rev. Robert Harris officiating. KANSAS, Ill. - Dakota Kade Horton, infant son of Jesse Horton, formerly of Kansas, and Diana Roe Horton, formerly of Martinsville, died at 9:22 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in Colorado Springs, Colo., due to heart complications. He was born at 9:48 a.m. Dec. 6, 2002, in Colorado Springs. Survivors include his parents; one sister, Kale Horton; and other relatives.
