Wayne L. Weems, 53, of Henderson, IL, formerly of Moline, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011.
Memorial services will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Lawson Community Center, Oneida, IL. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
He was a Navy Veteran.
Wayne was born April 28, 1958, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the son of Loland & May Louise Smith Weems. He married
Denise B. Thompson, February 17, 2000, in Warren County, IL.
Wayne was Owner/Operator of Wayne’s Pilot Car Service, Galesburg and was an over the road truck driver. He had been employed at DCM Transport and Inness Farm Supply, both in Galesburg.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; Daughters and sons in law, Jennifer (Ryan Gustaf) Weems, Moline, Amber Weems, Moline, Breann (Dale Crooks) Stevens, Galesburg, Ehrin (Marco Salazar) Stevens, Galesburg; Son, Wayne (Jessica Miller) Weems, Jr., Rock Island, 8 grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Kathy & Wade Hanks, DuQuoin, IL and brothers and sisters in law, Everett & Terry Weems, Emporia, KS and Loland “Ed” & Margaret Weems, Tellico Plains, TN and many dear friends including Dave Terry, Angela Matthews, Mark Willis and Mike Reed, all of Galesburg.
He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Wildcats fan. He enjoyed UFC Ultimate Fighting, fishing, scuba diving, Las Vegas and the Isle of Capri Casino.
The family would like to thank the individuals who worked so diligently to save his life. He was an organ donor.

John B. Luebbers, 45, of Odessa TX, formerly of Moline, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, TX.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation is Friday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
John was born January 31, 1964, in Moline, the son of Hans D. and Maria E. (Rastetter) Luebbers.
He was employed as a sports writer at the Odessa American Newspaper and various newspapers across the country. In earlier years he had worked for the Quad City Times.
Survivors include his mother, Maria, Moline; sisters and brother-in-law, Rita (Tom) Miller, Colona, and Traudel Luebbers, Phoenix, AZ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael (Jennifer) Luebbers, Andalusia, Christopher Luebbers, Woodstock, GA, Stephen (Kim) Luebbers, Tripoli, IA and Mark (Celeste) Luebbers, Silvis; nieces and nephews, Heather, Melissa, Alicia, Matthew, Jenna, Ben, Nate and Haley; uncle, Tom Cummings, Quincy, IL; aunt, DaLoris Luebbers, Mesa, AZ and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Linda L. Covey, 69, of Pahrump, NV, formerly of Moline and Rock Island died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Nathan-Adelson - Hospice, Las Vegas, NV.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2010 at Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Youth Fellowship Activities, Moline. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline is assisting the family.
Linda L. Carstens Covey was born September 19, 1940, in Moline, the daughter of Louis H. & E. LaVada Young Carstens. She married
Lawrence D. Covey June 2, 1961 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death June 11, 1997.
Linda was a former member of the First Christian Church Moline and the Broadway Theatre League Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School of Rock Island, Rock Island High School and The Moline Institute of Commerce. She had moved to Las Vegas with her companion Virgil Macek in 2003 to restart her life and enjoyed the excitement, sun and food of the city.
Survivors include her companion, Virgil Macek, Pahrump, NV, and several cousins, sister-in-law, Vira Buller, niece, Chris Wood, step-brothers, Mark, Tom, Steve and Joel Hoelter and step-sister, Susan Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence D. Covey, father-in-law, Roy Covey, niece, Lori Buller, uncle, Harry Dack and aunt, Sister Georgia Ann Lange BVM.
Carol Joyce Townsend

Carol was born April 4, 1934, in Colfax, WI. She married
Robert F. Anderson in April, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1976. She later married
Jay Townsend.
Surviving family members include Jay Townsend, daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Anderson Ege (Mike); sons, Robert L. Anderson, MN, & David W. Townsend, Coal Valley, and grandson, John C. Carroll, Davenport.

Jacquelyn J. Chalmers, 55, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, IL. Visitation is 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is at Grandview cemetery, Atkinson, IL. Memorials may be made in Jacquelyn’s name to the family.
Jacquelyn J. Chalmers was born April 4, 1955 in Rock Island, the daughter of Richard James Boyle and Diane Klinck. She was united in marriage to Anthony Chalmers, in 1995, in Joliet, IL.
She was employed at Hope Creek Care Center, Moline and had a passion for working with people in need.
Jacquelyn was very devoted to her family and was very active with her coworkers. After dealing with multiple illnesses her main goal was getting back to work, which she achieved.
Surviving family members include her husband, Tony, Rock Island children, Melissa (Bart) Ronek, Daniel Marsh, and Laurie Marsh all of Wisconsin, step-children, Eric (Becky) Chalmers, Mark (Nicole) Chalmers and Bryn (Kellie) Chalmers all of Pennsylvania, grandchildren, Dakota Ronek, and special granddaughter she helped raise, Cynthia Ramos, Eric’s children- Emily, Joshua, Rachel, Mark’s children- Adam and Drew Chalmers, mother, Diane Leadingham, sister, Debbie (Kevin) Stanfield, Atkinson, special aunt, Jackie VanDeVoorde, cousin, Jack (Valerie) Ernst, Barstow and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, husband, Steve Burns, brother, Danny Moore, an infant brother, Jimmy, her paternal and maternal grandparents, and aunt, Corky Ernst. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her friends and coworkers at Hope Creek Care Center which were like family to her.

Leroy Guthrie, 56, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Trinity Rock Island, IL.
Private family visitation will be held at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the River Bend Food Pantry, where he had volunteered many hours.
Leroy was born March 17, 1954 in Moline, the son of Emerson G. & Eva L. (Snelling) Guthrie. He married
Pamela S. Baird on September 14, 1985 in Moline.
He was employed at John Deere, Davenport Works for 32 years, retiring in 2006 from the Maintenance Dept.
Leroy enjoyed golfing, and went to Kentucky Lake annually to fish. He loved his family and spending time with them and his grandchildren.
Surviving family members include his wife, Pamela; daughters, Andrea DeKeyzer, Moline, & Abigail Jackson, Burlington, IA; son, Joshua Guthrie, Moline, 11 grandchildren; mother, Eva Guthrie, Rock Island and 4 brothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson in 1972.

Rosalie M. Broendel, 88, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September, 10, 2010 at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, IL. Visitation is 10:00 until service time at the church. Burial is at National cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL.
Memorials may be made to the church. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Rosalie M. Elliot Broendel was born February 3, 1922 in Rock Island, the daughter of Troy & May Blackwell Elliott. She was united in marriage to Albert T. Broendel, February 10, 1946, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death January 5, 2007.
She was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1978, as a draftsperson.
Rosalie was life member of Broadway Presbyterian Church and was very active in church groups and activities.
Surviving family members include her son Mark Broendel, Rock Island, and grandchildren, Katie Broendel, and Reid Broendel, both of Washington, DC.

David A. Carey, 28, of Coal Valley, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, IA.

David was born July 2, 1982, in Moline, the son of Gerald & Theresa Schaubroeck Carey.
He was a 2000 graduate of Moline High School. He was employed at John M Frey Co., Bettendorf, IA.
David was kind and thoughtful. He was very comforting and always willing to help in any way. He loved all the children and spending time with all his family and friends. David enjoyed fishing, cards, playing darts and he made his “NOLA” trip.
Survivors include his mother, Theresa (Michael) Moore, Oregon, IL, father, Gerald “Jerry” Carey, East Moline, grandparents, Clarence Schaubroeck, Rock Island, and Wayne & Marvella Carey, Moline, and stepgrandmother Arlene Moore, Moline, stepsister, Kaitlin Moore, stepbrother, Aaron Moore, both of Oregon, IL, 14 aunts and uncles, 41 cousins and numerous step aunts, uncles and cousins and “the girls” Ruby and Tinkerbell. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Arlene Shaubroeck and cousin Ivan Shaubroeck.
Ginny (Virginia) L. Olson

Ginny L. (Virginia) Olson, 58, of Moline, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010, at her residence.
Celebration of a spirited and adventurous life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
Ginny was born October 17, 1951 in Moline, the daughter of Ronald Olson and Georgia Johnson Olson.
She was employed at John Deere for 28 ½ years before leaving on disability in 2000. Ginny was interested in everything and very curious. She was an avid reader and student of ancient cultures and archeology. Ginny’s passion was her animals. She owned everything from dwarf rabbits to large parrots and her beloved Tennessee Walking Horses. Dogs, however, were her most loved. She made numerous trips abroad. Her favorite destinations were Egypt and Australia. Ginny was a very adventurous person. She was a traveler, not a tourist. In her trips abroad, she rode camels, elephants, and the magnificent Andalusian horses thru the Yucatan Peninsula.
She is survived by a special niece, Jennifer (Jonathan) Ruud and their three children, Jackson Ruud, Lily Glackin & Christian Ruud. She also leaves behind two sisters, Carolyn (Tracy) Monson & Melanie (Steve) Meersman, nieces; Stephanie Meersman, Carrie Monson and a nephew, Mitchell Monson. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, much loved niece, Meredith Meersman and her mother.

William was born May 20, 1941, in Rock Island, the son of Robert & Madlynne Brown Lee.
He was employed as a machinist & laborer for various construction companies in the Q.C. area.
Bill was an animal lover, especially his dog “Wolf”.
Survivors include his mother, Madlynne Nelson, Moline a brother and sister in law, Alan “Butch” & Janice Nelson, Silvis, IL a brother, Robert Lee, Las Vegas, NV and a sister, Linda Beckedahl, Priest River, ID He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee, step father, Robert Nelson and a brother, Michael Nelson.

Allan D. Jewell, 72, of Moline, died Satrurday, April 10, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.

Allan was born August 22, 1937 in Clinton, IA, the son of Luther L. and Bessie L. Sheppard Jewell. He married
Arlene Mangler Jewell in October 1966 in Versailles, Missouri.
Allan had been employed as a truck driver for Andover Trucking, retiring in 1984. Alan was an avid musician, and loved playing country music on his guitar. He was the founder and creator of the band “The Country Swingers” which played in both Iowa and Illinois
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Jewell, sons, Dale Jewell and Harlan Jewell, daughter, Rhonda Peters; brother Harlan (Bonnie) Jewell, sister, Gloria Reyes, granddaughters, Lisa Langdon and Jamie Quillin, and special great grandson, Michael Allan Dylan Hayworth, along with numerous nieces nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
