Elmer L. Gottschalk of Mundelein
Services for Elmer L. Gottschalk, 88, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Windridge Funeral Home, 104 High Rd., Cary. Pastor Roger Schneider of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry, will officiate.
Born July 9, 1910, in Ela Township, Ill., he died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Winchester House in Libertyville. Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
Mr. Gottschalk was a lifelong resident and a retired farmer in the Lake County area. He was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau and St. Peters Church of Christ in Lake Zurich.
He was the husband of the late Lorraine; father of Elmer L. Jr. (Ann) of Lake Bluff, George F. (Sandra) of Apple River, Ill., Robert A. (Sandra) of Zionsville, Ind., Donald E. (Eileen) of Island Lake, Vicki (Jerry) Pegelow of Lake Zurich, and the late Richard E. Gottschalk; brother of Earl Gottschalk of Darien, Wis. and the late Clarence Gottschalk; grandfather of 14; and great-grandfather of 10.

Edward W. Gruenewald of West Chicago
Services for Edward W. Gruenewald, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at NorrisWalen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago.
Born Oct. 25, 1919, in Chicago, he passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at his home. Burial will be in Glen Oak Cemetery, West Chicago.
Mr. Gruenewald had been a resident of West Chicago since 1927 and had retired from Diamond International Printing Company in 1981. An
Army veteran, he had served 44 months in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of Leon Richardt VFW Post 6791 in West Chicago.
Survivors include his brothers, Philip (Mary) Gruenewald of Elgin and Robert (Leona) Gruenewald of Iowa; nieces, Holly Welch of Golf, Ill., and Deborah Tebo of Saunemin, Ill.; two greatnephews; one great-niece; and one great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ammiel and Emily Gruenewald, and infant brother.

She retired in 1959 from Fansteel, and dairy farming in Richland Center, Wis.

George S. Kirst of Prospect Heights

Born April 17, 1918, in Chicago, he died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kirst had worked in sales for NCR, was vice president of marketing for Decar Plastics, and was founder of George Kirst & Associates in Bensenville. A veteran, he had served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his son, William (Geraldine) Kirst of Chicago; and grandchildren, William Jr., Kathryn Ellen and Thomas Patrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia B. Kirst.

Richard Lindquist of Elgin
Funeral services for Richard Lindquist, 44, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, West Dundee, with Father Louis Tosto officiating.
Born May 24, 1954, in Elgin, the son of Richard and Marie Steichen Lindquist, he passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. Burial will be in Dundee Township Cemetery

Mr. Lindquist was the owner of Elgin Blue Printery. He was a member of the Elgin Turners, Aurora Turners and the Elgin Owl Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Matt and Mike of South Elgin; parents, Richard and Margie Lindquist; sisters, Candace (David) Muzzey of Elgin, Carrie Mellom of West Dundee and Pam (Randy) Reidl of Wisconsin; stepdaughter, Jodie Howard of Elgin; and stepson, Frank Homer of Woodstock.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa, and two sisters.

Earl John Mann of Batavia
A memorial service for Earl John Mann, 94, formerly of St. Charles, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles.
Born April 29, 1904, in Geneva, the son of Jakob and Elizabeth Duerr (nee Blacksmith), he died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Michaelsen Care Center in Batavia.
Mr. Mann was adopted and reared by his maternal aunt, Margaret Blacksmith Mann and her husband,Karl, in Batavia.
He graduated from Batavia High School in 1922 and the University of Illinois in 1930. He was a registered professional engineer and worked for various branches of the federal government including the National Park Service and the Department of Housing and Urban Renewal. He had been a Master Mason since 1948, a member of Unity Lodge #48 and St. Charles Golden K Kiwanis Club, and very active with the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Mann of Geneva and Dr. Douglas (Judy) Mann of Chapel Hill, N. C.; nephew, Jon (Joy) Duerr of St. Charles; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Robin) Mann, Julie (Patrick) Jaeger and Alison, Sarah and Robert Mann; and great-grandsons, Travis and Patton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mann (nee Johnson), on May 28, 1994, theymarried in July of 1935, in Denver, Colo.; four brothers; and three sisters.

Margaret McGrath of McHenry
Funeral Mass for Margaret McGrath, 94, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, McHenry, with the Rev. Thomas Burr officiating.
Born June 7, 1904, inCounty Galway, Ireland, the daughter of Herbert and Ann (nee Mullins) Cunningham, she died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999,at Northern Illinois Medical Center. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Formerly of Chicago, Mrs. McGrath was a McHenry resident for 18 years and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in McHenry.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Frances) McGrath of Naperville and John (Donna) McGrath of Ingleside; and four grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, Christine and John.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, whom she married Oct. 21, 1939, at St. Ita's Church in Chicago.
