A member of the Alumni Club of the University of Illinois, he was a Ret. Lt. Commander of the Navy.
He was the husband of Ida (nee Loftus); father of Lawrence (Karen) Kelly and the late Nancy (Michael) Norton; grandfather of Ryan L., Shauna and Ashley Kelly, Christine (Tom) Stanford and Kerry and Timothy Norton; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Beverly Jean Looft
A memorial service for Beverly Jean Looft (nee Milburn) will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove.
Born June 14, 1939, to Harold and Ruth Milburn, she passed away Thursday, May 28, 1998, after a heroic battle against multiple myloma which lasted 15 years.
Mrs. Looft grew up in Fowler, Ind.
A cheerleader, honor student, and active member of Presbyterian Youth, she graduated from Fowler High School in 1957 and subsequently attended Indiana University. She married W. Gene Looft on June 7, 1959, and one year later the first of their three children was born.
Bev made the world a better place each day by sharing her loving heart and caring spirit. Her openness and sharp wit created limitless friendships wherever she passed by. As a young mother of three, she volunteered as a girl scout leader and softball coach.
Morerecently, this grandmother of four enjoyed custom quilt designing and specialty sewing.
Bev and Gene were longtime residents of Lisle and Mequon, Wis.
Over the past several years Bev had split her time between Buffalo Grove and the warm winters of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Milburn, in 1996 and brother, Wayne Milburn, in 1963, Beverly is survived by her husband, Gene; father, Harold Milburn; daughter, Annette (Patrick) Mannix; sons, Steve (Cathy) Looft and Mark (Kim) Looft; grandsons, Sean and Christopher Mannix; and granddaughters, Macy and MacKensie Looft.
Her family wishes to thank everyone for their support, prayers and good deeds during this period of grief.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at 2 p. m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Edith L. Mavity
Servics for Edith L. Mavity (nee Mallow), a resident of Des Plaines for 24 years, will be held at 6 p. m. Monday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights.
She died Friday, May 28, 1998, at her daughter's home in Arlington Heights. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Mavity was a former employee of Allstate Insurance Company, Skokie. She was also a memberof the Women's Guild of the Church of Christ in Des Plaines.
Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne (Dale) Hobbs of Fisher, Ill. and Sarah (Richard) Grove of Arlington Heights; beloved grandchildren, Tracey and Troy Betterton, John O'Shaughnessy, and Richard Jr., Kyle and Erin Grove; greatgrandchildren, Brittany and Conner Grove; and devoted brother, William J. (Lalah) Mallow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mavity; and daughter, Patricia O'Shaughnessy.

Hector Munoz Jr.
Funeral services for Hector Munoz Jr., 22, of Elgin, will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating.
Born Oct. 12, 1975, in Elgin, the son of Hector Sr. and Maria (nee Diaz) Munoz, he died Thursday, May 28, 1998. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
He was employed by Artistic Carton Company of Elgin for the past five years.
Survivors include his wife, Branda; two sons, Angel and Hector III, both at home; a daughter, Jazmine, also at home; his parents; and four sisters, all of Elgin.

Karl F. Numsen
A memorial service for Karl F. Numsen, 83, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Libertyville, will be held at 1:30 p. m. Sunday, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 733 Catalpa Ave., Itasca.
Mr. Numsen died Tuesday, May 19, 1998.
A retired district supervisor for the Illinois Tollway System, Mr. Numsen had moved to Florida 23 years ago.
He was a veteran, having served in the
Army Air Force, and was also a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Numsen (nee Sandberg); daughters, Joanne Miller of Hanover Park and Bev Redmer of Conroe, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary M. Orban
Services for Mary M. Orban (nee Olosz), 88, of Elgin, will be held at 1 p. m. Monday, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Born July 22, 1909, in Hungary, she died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at her home. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Orban and her husband were the owners of Orban's Grocery Store for 12 years and she was also employed by Elgin National Watch and Brody Coat Company. She had been a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ for 61 years where she participated in the Women's Auxiliary, and also belonged to the Elgin Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband, James Orban, whom she married Aug. 23, 1933; son, James (Mary) Orban of North Carolina; daughters, Muriel Wright of Elgin, Audrey Mensching of San Clemente, Calif., and Mary Jane (Don) Fletcher of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a. m. Monday, at Wait-Ross Allanson Funeral Home, 51 Center St., Elgin, and last until the time for services at the church.

Dr. Ronald F. Pokornowski
Funeral services for Dr. Ronald F. Pokornowski of Winfield will begin at 10:30 a. m. Monday, at St. John the Baptist Church, Winfield, followed by an 11 a. m. Mass.
He died of cancer Friday,May 29, 1998, at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Dr. Pokornowski was a graduate of Our Lady of Grace School, Weber High School, class of 1950, in Chicago, Marquette University, classof 1953 and Marquette Medical School, class of 1957. He received an honorary M. D. degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1977, interned at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago and did his residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University, V. A. Research Hospital in Chicago, and Evanston Hospital in Evanston. From 1961 to 1964, he practiced internal medicine in Wheaton, and from 1964 until the present he was president of Central DuPage Internist Associates, S. C., in Carol Stream, and also was on their board of directors. Dr. Pokornowski was a charter and current member of the staff of Central DuPage Hospital, vice president of the hospital medical staff from 1968 to 1969, president from 1969 to 1970, and a member of its board of governors. He was chief medical consultantat the DuPage County Convalescent Center and practiced at several other nursing homes. From 1993 to 1996, Dr. Pokornowski was a member of the DuPage County Board of Health. He received a certificate in the transportation and travel industry from the College of DuPage in June of 1980.
He was the owner of Fun `N Travel in Wheaton, and also a member of Allmed, Inc. of Libertyville, the American Medical Association, the Society of Addiction Medicine, the Illinois Medical Society, DuPage County Medical Society board of directors, a delegate to the Illinois State Medical Society, and a member of the National Association of Children of Alcoholics, the Marquette University Alumni Association and the Weber High School Alumni Association. He was a captain in the U. S. Medical Corps, and a former medical director of the hospital in Weierhof, Germany. His biography is in several issues of Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and West Who's Who in Health and Medical Services.
Dr. Pokornowski was the beloved husband of Joan Barbara (nee Krygier); dear father of Barbara Karen and John Ronald (Kristi Jean); loving grandfather of Tyler John, Sean Michael and baby-to-be; fond brother of Elizabeth (the late Henry) Nitz; devoted son of the late Felix and Isabella (nee Mrazek) Pokornowski; dear son-in-law of Stella and the late John Krygier; uncle of Mark, John (Sarah) and John Henry, Joseph (Janet) and Spencer, Mary Kay (Keith) Lewandowski, Wendy and Thomas Krygier; brother-in-law of the late Marita Krygier; nephew of Ted (Pat) M.; Reynold A. Vann. A memorial service for Reynold A. Vann, 85, of The Holmstad in Batavia, will be held at a later date at The Holmstad.
Born Aug. 2, 1912, in Marquette, Kan., the son of Carl and Nancy (nee Ahlstedt) Vann, he died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at Delnor-Community Hospital, Geneva.
Mr. Vann was a chemistry teacher at North Park Academy and also director of records at North Park College.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (nee Jacobson), to whom he was united in marriage on Aug. 19, 1936, in Kansas; three daughters, Nancy Dorsey of Arlington Heights,Mary Spyers-Duran of Shorewood, Wis. and Lois (LeRoy) Granstrom of Minn.; a brother, Myron (Margaret) Vann of Texas; two sisters, Rosa Lee Neywick and Marjorie (Carl) Elving, both of Minnesota; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
