Bill Leitgeb
William "Bill" Coy Leitgeb, 76, of Island Park and Mesquite, Nevada, died Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born July 7, 1931, in Great Falls, Montana, to William Patton Leitgeb and Pearl Estella Jackson Leitgeb. He grew up in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1948.
Growing up in Great Falls, Montana, Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing. He was particularly good with horses. As a result, he landed a summer job breaking horses on the ranch of actor Gary Cooper.
Bill joined the Navy shortly after graduating from high school. While in the Navy, he had a distinguished and decorated career in the submarine service. During this time in the Navy, he lived in several foreign countries and territories. It was in Hawaii where he met his future wife, Priscilla Koohelelani, and they were married April 8, 1953. It was also in the Navy where he earned his nickname, "Wild Bill."
After 24 years in the Navy, Bill retired as Master Chief and moved to his home state of Montana. It was here that Bill purchased and successfully operated the Madison River Lodge. Located 38 miles north of Yellowstone, the lodge catered to fishermen, hunters and tourists. Bill operated the lodge with his family for 15 years before selling to retire.
He was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much.
He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman, and he enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla K. Leitgeb of Mesquite and Island Park; sons, Richard Allan Leitgeb of Temecula, Calif., and Robert John Leitgeb of Hanford, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Leitgeb of Helena, Mont.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the Williams' cabin, 3740 Snake River Road in Island Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary of Idaho Falls.
Orin Harman dies at 67
Orin Merl Harman, 67, passed away at home in Cedar City, Utah, on Saturday, September 2, 2007. He was born on January 27, 1940 to Merl R. Harman and Barbara J. Badger in Blackfoot.
He attended school in Moore and Arco. He was married to Barbara Owen in 1960 and she passed away in 2002. He married Connie Mosdell in 2004.
Orin joined the Army and served for 2 and a half years. He had a cowboy heritage, which led him to horse racing, calf roping, and being a rodeo clown. He had a great love for horses and the great outdoors. Coming from humble beginnings, he was a self made man and worked hard and played hard. His word and integrity was what defined him. People liked to be around him and he liked being around them. He was a well known business man, selling real estate in Island Park, where he also owned Harman Excavation.
Orin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1556, and Men's Golf Leagues in Island Park and Mesquite, Nevada
Orin is survived by his wife, Connie, and his children: Kelly (Tammy) Harman, Magna, Utah; Robert (Leah) Harman, Pocatello, Idaho; Barbie (Todd) Durham, Ennis, Montana; Wendie (Rick) Preston, Spring Creek, Nevada; Tauna (Brent) Johnson, Cedar City, Utah; Charles Mosdell, Cedar City, Utah; Greg (Myra) Mosdell; Sheryl (Belinda) Mosdell, Bunkerville, Nevada; and Lauri (Dan) Evans of Cedar City. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Orin also has a brother, Vern (Alice) Harman of Postfalls, Idaho and a sister, Joan (Bruce) Carroll of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho.
Preceding him in death were his parents, grandparents, his wife, Barbara Harman, sister, Jean Norwood and grandsons, Casey Harman and Dustin Evans.
Memorial services will be held in Utah and Island Park. Utah's is on Thursday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City. The family will receive family and friends at 10 a.m. at the mortuary.
Island Park's is set for Friday, September 8, at the Island Park Ward at 11 a.m., with the family receiving friends and family starting at 10 a.m.

Hollie Beard
Hollie Beard, our beloved "Holls Bolls," left this earth on September 1, 2007. She was killed in a tragic automobile accident while traveling to our family cabin to spend the holiday with Cassie, her sister and best friend.
Hollie was born December 17, 1982, to Winston and Carolyn Beard. She was the youngest of eight children and was the perfect final touch to the Beard family.
Hollie was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and graduated from Hillcrest High School. She developed many close relationships with her friends and teachers as she went through school. What a cherished blessing her friends have been to her throughout her life. Thank you all for your love!
Hollie had many talents and hobbies, including drawing, music, yoga, hiking and swimming. Most of all, she loved drama. She studied acting at Brigham Young University, where she graduated with honors in 2005 and was selected by the faculty to be the graduation speaker. Hollie grew to love the characters she portrayed in plays and skits. In her senior year at BYU, she played Joan of Arc, a character with whom Hollie shared many qualities. She loved and admired Joan's strength and courage.
Hollie had great strength of character and courage in facing life's challenges. Her greatest qualities were her tender heart, and quick and warm smile that endeared her to so many.
Hollie loved animals, including her dog, Edgar (named after Edgar Allen Poe), and her previous dog, Data (named after Data on Star Trek). Animals could sense her tender heart and they returned her affection with great loyalty.
Aunt Hollie will be missed by all her nieces and nephews. She loved children and it was one of her greatest wishes to be a mother, like her own adoring mother.
Hollie had a deep abiding love for the Savior. She carried with her a testimony of Jesus Christ and sure knowledge that she is a daughter of God. She believed that it was not happenstance, but by divine design that she was placed on the earth at this time. She lived a wonderful life and was a great blessing to those who knew and loved her.
Hollie did not like to be left behind. As her seven older siblings left for college and missions, she lamented being left behind. Hollie is now the one to leave and we are left behind, longing for the day that we will see her beautiful face again. She will be greatly missed!
Survivors include her parents, Winston and Carolyn Beard of Idaho Falls; her siblings, Randy (Andrea) Beard of Orem, Roxane (Dave) Smith of Vernon, British Columbia, Eric (Tanya) Beard of North Salt Lake, Matt (Alyssa) Beard of Denver, Jeff (Camille) Beard of Colorado Springs, Keli Jo Beard (engaged to Dave Mull) of Salt Lake City, and Cassie (Austin) Crystal of Idaho Falls; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Ammon West Stake Center, 2055 Coronado in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday before services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
Helen Kent dies at 86
Helen Thurston Kent, 86, of Ashton, died Sunday, September 2, 2007, at the Ashton Living Center, of natural causes.
She was born July 9, 1921, in Ogden, Utah to Louis Christian and Wilhelmina Meenderink Thurston. She attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She then attended and graduated from the LDS School of Nursing.
She joined the U.S. Army on June 1, 1943. She served as a nurse overseas during World War II. She received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, and overseas service bars. She was honorably discharged from the Army on May 14, 1946, as a Captain.
She married Gerald "Curley" Kent on May 27, 1946 in Ashton. She worked as a R.N./surgical nurse for many years at Ashton Memorial Hospital. She was later appointed as the Administrator of the hospital. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Daniel G. Kent, Eileen K. Bergman, Dean L. (Linda) Kent all of Ashton; a sister-in-law, Norma Hedrick of Orofino; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband "Curley" Kent, a son Larry Kent, and sisters, Faye Tuttle, Myrtle Nelson and Bernice Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
Muir Hahn dies at 87
Muir Hahn, longtime Bills Island resident, passed away on September 1, 2007 in Nampa with his daughter Karen at his side.
Muir was born May 23, 1920, in Nampa, to Walter C. and May Muir Hahn.
One of his favorite things to do as a young man was ride his father's train to Big Springs in Island Park, dropping off into the wilderness for fishing and backpack style camping, and then return to the train days later to catch a ride home.
He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1939.
While in attendance there he played the tuba in the band and was the Pep Band leader, when he wasn't playing baseball.
Early in his career he went to work as a meat cutter and learned skills that he would use for cooking different meats the rest of his life.
He was drafted into the Army in March 1944. After basic training at Camp Roberts in California, he was sent to serve overseas, fighting very proudly under General Patton's command in the 320th Infantry.
He once heard a live speech from General Patton, and would quote him for the rest of his life.
After fighting his way across France and Germany during the Battle of the Bulge he was wounded in action on January 5, 1945 near Weitz, Luxembourg.
Following hospitalization for his wounds, he was assigned to the 58th QM Sales Co. in Marbourg, Germany until his return to the states January 3, 1946.
Muir received an honorable discharge on January 24, 1946 and was awarded a Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge as an Expert Rifle, Victory Medal and is listed in the Purple Heart Hall of Honor.
He was truly proud to have served his country during her time of need.
When he returned home to Pocatello, he went back to work as a meatcutter.
He also returned to fishing and camping in Island Park, and purchased a lot on I.P. Bills Island in 1954.
In 1955, he purchased a floor covering shop in Pocatello named G & W Floors.
He spent the next several years building his business, and his cabin in Island Park.
His cousin Lavon Muir worked for his flooring business, and he particularly cherished his work because Lavon was such a hard worker, and was raised like a brother to Muir. Muir was very proud of what Lavon could do.
Muir married Betty Jean Kinder on June 22, 1941 in the Central Christian Church in Pocatello.
They had three daughers together, Jarilyn Daigle (William), Barbara Kimbrel (Thomas), and Karen Schumacher.
As family they would work on the cabin in Island Park, fish, water ski, and snowmobile.
Muir bragged about being the first person in Island Park to take a snowmobile into a cabin.
Muir and Betty both deeply cherished their friends.
Muir was a gifted jewelry maker, wood worker, a talented fly fisherman (tying his own flies), and a darned fine cook.
Muir was a true craftsman and took pride in his work.
He shared his talents, his possessions, and everything he had with everyone he knew.
He retired in 1985, and he and Betty moved to their cabin in Island Park in 1993, where they lived the last of their days.
Muir was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, his sister Carol Murray, a grandson Stephen Kimbrel, and a great-grandaughter Katie Zahurak. He is survived by his daughters Jarilyn Daigle, Barbara Kimbrel, and Karen Schumacher, his special cousin Lavon Muir, a special nephew Dale Scobert and his family, brother-in-aw Carl Murray, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and his buddy, Bear the dog.
We will all miss him deeply.
There will be a celebration of Muir's life at 10 a. m. on Sunday, September 30 at his cabin on Bills Island.
All Muir's friends and families are invited.
Mildred "Sue" Eck
Mildred "Sue" Eck, 72, of Marysville, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at her home of natural causes.
She was born May 6, 1935, in Judkins to Dee Berry and Ida Jones Jones.
She attended schools in Judkins in a one room school house, and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1955.
When she went to church, she attended the Baptist church.
She married Donald O. Eck, and they later divorced.
She loved crafts and making things. She loved to travel and see new places.
Reading was her favorite past time.
She enjoyed collecting rocks.
She especially loved her grandchildren Valerie Camp, Casandra Dixon, and Caylie Hansen.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Eck of Ashton, Danny (Leslie) Eck of Ashton; a sister, Lucy Huntsman of Marysville, three grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Shults Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the funeral account at the funeral home.
