Beverly Marjean Parks, 72, of Idaho Falls, died September 3, 2006 at her home.
She was born March 2, 1935, at Pingree to Jim Davidson and Marretta Jean Pritchet Davidson. She grew up and attended schools in the area.
She married Vernal Bingham in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. In 1962, she married Louis Allen Parks in Idaho Falls. She worked as a bar manager at Island Park Lodge. She was a member of the Island Park Pool League. She was awarded Sportsman of the Year numerous times. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among her many interests were racing snowmobiles and picking asparagus. She loved her dogs & bird and loved being with her family including her many adopted children.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Robert Bingham.
Memorial Services were held Friday, September 8, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS Old Butte Ward (N. Clarence Drive) with Bishop Wayne Jensen officiating.
On September 23, 2006 at 3 p.m., her ashes will be scattered on Mount Sawtell in Island Park as a celebration of her life.
Rob Kennedy, Island Park
Island Park lost a man whose spirit was deeply rooted here when Robert “Rob” Arthur Kennedy, 47, died of natural causes on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his home in Island Park.
Rob was born February 26, 1959 at Ashton, the son of Charles “Chick” Kennedy and Reta Whitaker Kennedy.
He grew up in Island Park and St. Anthony, attending elementary schools in St. Anthony and graduating from South Fremont High. He also attended Lassen College in Susanville, CA, where he received an associates degree in the building trade.
He married Faye Hewitt on July 5, 1980 in the Little Chapel of the Pines in Island Park. They made their home in Island Park, were Rob worked as a building contractor. He built many beautiful log homes in the Island Park area. He also built and owned the Sportsmen’s Lodge and helped manage the Coffee Pot Lodge. He and Faye were later divorced, but remained friends.
Rob was active in the community, serving on the Fire Department for 26 years — 16 years as the Fire Chief. He was president of the Island Park Sportsmen’s Association and helped organize the Old Men’s Rendezvous, the Golf Tournament and the Island Park Pool League. He loved the outdoors, including snowmobiling, golfing, fishing, hunting and camping with his family.
Rob also donated a lot of time helping with the annual October Fest at Sportsmen’s Lodge. On Saturday, October 7, the event will be called the RobTober Fest to honor Rob. It starts at 3:00 p.m. at Sportsman’s Lodge.
Rob is survived by his sons, Derek Kennedy, Pocatello; and Brandon Kennedy and Justin Kennedy, Island Park; brothers Rick Kennedy and Dennis (Roni) Kennedy, Island Park, and one granddaughter, Kamiah.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Little Chapel of the Pines at Mack’s Inn, with Thomas D. Baird, a minister from Idaho Falls, officiating
Burial was in the Targhee Cemetery
near Henry’s Lake under the direction of the Bidwell Funeral Home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations may be made to the Robert Kennedy memorial account at any branch of the Bank of Idaho to help offset funeral expenses. Merlin Jenkins, Ashton
ASHTON — Merlin L. Jenkins, 90, of Ashton, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at Ashton Living Center of natural causes. He was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Heman, Idaho, to Ephram and Elsie McMinn Jenkins. He grew up near the Arcadia Lakes where his family farmed and raised fish.
On Oct. 5, 1935, he married Phyllis Nedrow in St. Anthony. They moved to Ashton in 1937, where they farmed and ranched. He was a cattleman and was named Fremont-Madison Cattleman of the Year in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing with his wife. Merlin was a kind, generous and gentle man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren; he loved to hunt and fish, especially with his son, Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Ashton; daughter, Arlene (Vern) Studer of Walla Walla, Wash.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and a son, Wayne Jenkins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Ashton LDS 1st Ward, with Bishop Dennis Fransen officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church before services. Burial will be in Pine- view Cemetery
under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
Art Vollweiler dies at age 87
Art Vollweiler: Island Park and Chico, California
After years of fighting a serious blood disorder, Art Vollweiler, a Bills Island summer resident, succumbed to congestive heart failure on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, in Chico, California, where he winters
Art was born in Blackfoot to Henry and Justina Vollweiler on May 19, 1919. He lived in Idaho all his early life and was a go-getter from the start.
At just 23 years old, Art began Art’s Machine Shop (AMS). Art was a man of integrity and great ideas. AMS is a tribute to those very ideas and his unquenchable desire to “tinker.” AMS’ humble beginnings as a simple blacksmith shop expanded to a world-renowned manufacturing business as Art’s tinkering talents earned him a reputation as the man who could “figure it out.” Art developed everything with quality, because he followed a simple philosophy that everything was a “work of art.”
Art retired in 1984 but even after his retirement, Art’s mind could not be restrained, and he continued to think up ways to solve life’s problems.
Art was married to his first wife, Ellen, for 45 years before cancer took her home to be with the Lord. Together they had four children, Mary, Artha, Rick, and Tim.
Art married Linda in 1991 and they have enjoyed 15 years together in Chico.
Art was a member of the Rotary Club in American Falls and the Elks Club in Pocatello and Chico. He earned the prestigious award of Business Man of the Year in American Falls and was Grand Marshall for the American Falls Day Parade in 1999. He also gave his time as a scout leader for 15 years in American Falls.
Art was active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in American Falls and in the Faith Lutheran Church in Chico.
Art enjoyed fishing and hunting and anything else that could be done outdoors. He spent as much of his time as possible in Island Park, where he could enjoy the outdoors he loved.
After his retirement, Art took on a new hobby — building, flying, and crashing remote control airplanes. He always said he was the only one who had walked away from 30 plane crashes.
Art will be remembered as a man who lived his life to the fullest. Never one to just sit around, Art was able to visit AMS and his beloved Island Park the week before his death and to visit with family and friends. While no one knew this would be his last visit, family and friends were given a final moment to see Art as he would have wanted to be remembered — as a vibrant man who took every opportunity to LIVE.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Justina, his first wife, Ellen, and his three brothers, Henry, Carl, and Emanuel. Art is survived by his second wife, Linda, two daughters, Mary Doering (Harwood) and Artha Chipps (Melvin), and two sons Rick Vollweiler (Kris) and Tim Vollweiler (Sylvia). He has four stepchildren, Paul, Tracy, Kylee, and Jamie, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren who all love and admire him for his can-do attitude. He has two surviving sisters, Anna Anderson and Esther Annen.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a. m. Thursday, November 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in American Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Luther Heights Bible Camp, in care of St. John’s Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 55, American Falls, ID. 83211 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Merle Whitmore
Beverly Merle Whitmore, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Mercy Medical Hospital in Nampa, Idaho.
She was born May 15, 1940, in Ashton, Idaho, to Albert James and Reva Grace Schofield Whitmore. She grew up in Ashton and attended South Fremont schools.
While growing up in Ashton she met and married Jim Lynn “Jimmie” Biorn. They had two children, Chris Lynn Biorn and Sherri Lee Biorn. They later divorced. She married Leo Bud Jones. They made their home in Pocatello and had a daughter, Alecia Ann Jones. They later divorced. She was a banker for many years and then sold real estate in Idaho Falls. She was working for Century 21 Advantage at the time of her death.
She had many hobbies she enjoyed, fishing, camping, painting, gardening, and baking, but her true passion was making quilts, quilts and more quilts. She was known by many as the "quilt lady," and was loved and will be missed by all who knew her, especially her seven grandchildren, Casey, Matthew, Trevor, Sterling, Marissa, Dallas and Jaden.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge.
