Robert Ward Johnson, 72, of Island Park and Mesa, Arizona, passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. Robert was born on November 3, 1933 in Lead, South Dakota to Alfred H. Johnson and Gladys M. (Ward) Johnson.
Bob attended Lead schools and graduated from Lead High School in 1952. He attended Black Hills State Teachers College, where he met his beloved wife, Gail Margaret Flaig. They were married on December 27, 1954, in Rapid City, South Dakota, while Bob was on furlough from the U. S. Army.
In January 1955, he was shipped to Germany, where he served as a Medical Corps medic. Bob served in the Army from 1954 - 1956. When he was discharged, he returned to Black Hills State Teachers College and graduated with a teaching degree. He earned his fifth year at Portland State and Idaho State University. For 35 years Bob taught primarily at the junior high level and was a junior high principal for several years. He taught English, advanced seventh and eighth grade math, and physical education. He coached football, basketball, track, and wrestling.
Bob was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in American Falls and a former Elder of the Community Protestant Church in West Yellowstone. He was a member of the American Legion Post 59 of Aberdeen, for the last 14 years and was an Order of Elks member.
Bob spent many summers working as a carpenter in Rapid City with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law. After retirement, he and his son-in-law, Kevin, built homes in Island Park. Bob currently was helping his daughter, Darla, and husband, Kevin, build their new home.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, woodworking, coaching, and being part of family gatherings. He was a wonderful grandfather, baby-sitting his first grandchild, Kelsey, and taking many memorable snowmobile trips. Robert Johnson's greatest loves were his wife, two daughters, and his grandchildren... "they are so precious."
Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Gail Johnson, Island Park, and Mesa; daughter Susan (Kelvin) Bowles, Aberdeen; daughter Darla (Kevin) Petersen, Twin Falls; grandchildren Robert and Alexandria Bowles and Kelsey and Nicole Petersen; a sister, Dorthea Coopersmith, Arvada, CO; a brother Andrew Johnson, Casper, WY; numerous brothers-in-la and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Cremation has taken place with Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at the West Yellowstone Community Protestant Church. Burial rites will be at the National Cemetery

Delores Lenz of Ashton
Delores Jean Lenz, 63, of Ashton, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Boise of natural causes. She was born Sept. 29, 1943, in Idaho Falls, to Ralph A. and Nelda Zitting Hill. She attended schoool in Lamont and Ashton.
She married Harold “Hersh” Lenz on Nov. 8, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton. They lived and farmed east of Ashton. She also helped run the family business in Ashton. They had three children.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Anthony. She was a member of the American Dog Derby Committee. She also took an active role in helping with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping with her family, yard work, shopping, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, of Ashton; children, Stacey (Bill) Steele and Bryan (Brooke) Lenz of Ashton, Deanna Lenz (Will) Hampton of Boise; her mother, Nelda Hill of Kuna; siblings, Marvin (Brucene) Hill of Ashton, Steve (Marsha) Hill and Kalle Matsuyama of Nampa; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Methodist Church in Ashton, with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton, and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
Beatrice Lucille Peterson
Beatrice Lucille Peterson, 93, of Blackfoot, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 at The Willows Assisted Living Center in Blackfoot.
She was born on August 5, 1913 in Roy, Idaho, to Henry Victor and Beatrice Susan West Peterson. At the age of 15 she moved, with her family, to Idaho Falls. Summers were spent on the family dry farm east of Idaho Falls and winters in Idaho Falls until she was over 80 years old. In 1996 she moved to Blackfoot and lived there since.
She attended grade school at the Landing School near Roy and graduated from American Falls High School.
Lucille and her parents began the Roy Community Reunion that was held each year around Father's Day. Lucille attended every reunion for more than 50 years and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with friends old and new.
She was a member of the Live and Learn Club and the Project Club in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
During summer and fall she could be found at her home in Island Park. She so enjoyed her time there that it was hard for her to come to the valley for the winters.
She is survived by her sisters, Lorene C. (Blaine) Rhodes, and Laura Jensen, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lyle Arthur Peterson, and one sister, Lola B. O'Neil.
In accordance with her wishes cremation was under the direction of the Hawker Funeral Home and no services are planned.
Craig Robert Degen
Craig Robert Degen, 53, passed away Saturday, December 16 , 2006 in Honolulu, Hawaii, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Craig was born in Boise on July 3, 1953 to Finley and Emmalyn Degen. He moved with his parents to Downey, Calif. in 1955 and then to Long Beach, Calif., where he attended grade school. He later moved to Los Alamitos, Calif, where he attended high school. He graduated in 1970 and then attended one year at Humbolt College in Eureka, Calif.
He began his career as a finish carpenter and worked for several years in Eureka and many other locations including Idaho Falls, Salt Lake City, Orange County, and San Diego. He worked on many exclusive homes, yachts, and commercial buildings. He continued his carpentry, moving and working in Jackson Hole and Victor, where he owned a cabinet shop. He spent summers running his cabinet business and winters in Costa Rica.
In 2003, he moved to Kona, Hawaii. He worked on several prestigious homes being built on the island, usually finishing the interior doors, cabinets, and trim with teak and other exotic woods. He became an expert at finish carpentry and was well known throughout his trade.
Ever since he was very young and throughout his life, Craig loved surfing, skiing, and fishing. He was a very adventurous individual who dreamed of surfing his way around the world. Craig was truly a free spirit, loved by all who met him.
He had a very interesting and varied life. In addition to living intermittently in Costa Rica, he also took time out to spend five months traveling around the world. He loved to fish and was an excellent fisherman. He spent considerable time when he could helping to build his parent’s cabin, along with his brother Alan, on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Island Park, which allowed him to “fish the best.”
Two summers ago, he had the opportunity to travel to a remote area of Alaska and fly fish for silver salmon with his dad, brother, and several great friends. He repeatedly talked about the adventure as being the best trip of his life.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Finley and Emmalyn Degen of Emmett and Island Park, his brother Alan, his wife Kim and their two children, Robert and Lauren of Boise, and his sister, Mary, of Boise. He leaves many other relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Friday, December 29 at Potter’s Funeral Chapel, 228 E. Main Street in Emmett. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity.
Tara Khatchatourian
Tara Khatchatourian died on Wednesday December 13, 2006, at her home in Cyprus, of a heart attack. She was 44 years old - born Aug. 25, 1961.
Tara lived several years in Island Park, where her family owned and operated the Valley View RV Park. She was married to Alan Schwindeman (son of Shirlene Kynaston) and they lived in the Madison Valley in Montana. They divorced. In Island Park and the Madison Valley she worked as a chef and caterer. At the time of her death, Tara was working as a writer.
Tara is survived by her mother, Sally Khatchatourian of Brighton, CO, her sister Victoria Khatchatourian of Brighton, Co., her father, Paul Khatchatouorian, her maternal grandmother Shirley Staben of Hot Springs, S.D, her aunt, Mary Rankin of Littleton, Co., uncle John Staben of Hot Springs, S.D, aunt Amalia Khatchatourian of Rasht, Iran. and aunt Vika Khatchatourian of Rasht, Iran.
Her request to be buried in Cyprus was honored on Friday, December 22. Her sister and numerous friends were present. She will be missed by family and friends.

Casey Joe Rinehart
PARKER — Casey Joe Rinehart, , Parker, died early Sunday morning, October 31, 2010 in an automobile accident. He was born on April 2, 1979 in Boone, Iowa to Kevin and Collette Nebel Rinehart.
Casey attended school at Parker Elementary and South Fremont High School. After graduation he worked in many areas of agriculture and construction but mostly enjoyed his skills in roofing. He had worked at Artco as a press operator and with Gold’s North Fork Roofing in St. Anthony. He had recently moved to Utah to be near his brother, sister, and nephews and continue his construction trade.
Casey loved the outdoors, camping, four wheeling and most of all fishing. He was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and never missed taking his sons and nephews to the Fremont County Search and Rescue Demolition Derby. His nephews loved him for the tease he was and could always count on him for a wresting match.
Casey most loved being a dad to Kaden and Jesse. He considered his two boys his proudest accomplishments. Casey loved his family. He was a loyal friend to a close circle of people who knew they could count on him. Many will miss his smile, his laugh, and his sense of humor. Most recently he had the opportunity to volunteer his construction services for the Extreme Home Makeover in Pocatello. He was so honored and proud to be a part of helping make someone else’s life better by doing what he could to help.
He is survived by his sons, Jesse Ryan Rinehart of Jerome and Kaden Michael Rinehart of Idaho Falls, his parents, Kevin and Collette Rinehart of Island Park, brother, Cody Rinehart of Utah, sister, Kaylee Rinehart Jensen of Utah, and grandparents Evva Nebel of Burton and Bill Rinehart of Parker. He was preceded in death by grandparents Joe Nebel and Joyce Rinehart , Uncle Mike Rinehart and Aunt LaRane Briggs.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Casey’s name to the Fremont Country Search and Rescue.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 4 at at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony. The family will receive friends Thursday evening prior to the memorial service, from 6 until 6:45 p.m.
Chester B. Chennault
WEST YELLOWSTONE — Chester B. Chennault, 101, died on June 28, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was born Oct. 1, 1908 in Spring Town, Texas. He spent 101 years, 270 days on this earth enjoying his family and friends.
Chester had the best of both worlds. He spent his summers in West Yellowstone, Mont., and his winters in Ft. Worth, Texas.
He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Chester was a mason in the Masonic Lodge.
Chester was a Lt. Commander and Navy pilot in World War II. He also taught aeronautics at the University of Georgia during the war. After the war he was a flight instructor, homebuilder, and motel owner and operator. He built one of the first motels in West Yellowstone to have indoor plumbing (Pinecrest Lodge).
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed reading stories of the wild west, which he was part of as he joined the United States Cavalry at the young age of 17.
He always enjoyed having a good time and an element of danger made it even better.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Oscar and Eva Chennault; his brother, Hurley Chennault; and his two wives, Margaret Bell Chennault and LaVenyle Chennault.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. William J. Wagner (June), Mrs. Jerry Alexander (Jane); his granddaughter, Kelli B. Crom; and his nephew, Max Chennault.
He was buried in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Chester will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
