GLENN SHOWALTER
Rupert - Glenn Showalter a 84-year-old long time Heyburn resident passed away April 10, 2003 at his son's home in Rupert.
Glenn was born September 26, 1918, in Holbrook, Nebraska, the son of Norris and Bertha Armstrong Showalter. He spent his youth on the family farm.
When he was 18 Glenn moved to Idaho with his parents, and settled in the Paul area. Glenn worked for the local farmers, he herded sheep, and worked in the potato industry. On January 3, 1945 he married Vera Gean Borrowman in Burley. They lived in the Emerson area for a number of years while working for Walter Nelson. Before buying their own farm just east of Heyburn, where they raised their family. He farmed until the age of 75, when he retired.
For the last two year he made his home with his son Mike in Rupert.
Glenn was a great farmer, and designed several farm implements for himself and others. He always looked forward to the spring when he could start working the ground and in the winter he kept busy with his herd of sheep.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting pheasants in the fall, having coffee with family and friends, square dancing, and playing cards. He was a great dad, grampa, friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand. He will always be remember for his fantastic peanut brittle. He taught us by example how to live our lives.
He is survived by his son Mike (Becky) Showalter of Rupert; two daughters Karen (Gary) Ireland of Boise; and Marie (John) Kidd of Hammnett, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and one sister Verna McDonald of Stratton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vera in 1979, his parents, two sisters, one grandson, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, with Pastor Raymond Herd officiating. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the Rupert Chapel.
FLOYD J. MONTOYA
BURLEY - Floyd Johnny Montoya, 44-year-old Burley resident died Friday, March 21, 2003, at his home in Burley.
He was born October 4, 1958, in East Ely, Nev., the son of Eligio and Lillian Beatrice Coca Montoya. He attended school in Wendover, Utah. He worked as a money changer for thirty years for Stateline Casino. He loved to fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. He especially loved spending time with his daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Angel Montoya; his father, Eligio Montoya; three sisters, Evelyn A. Humes, Ruby (Kenneth) Neilson, and Nancy Smart; two brothers, Jerry Montoya and Errol E. (Gayla) Montoya. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother-in-law, Charles L. Humes.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Desert View Cemetery
in Wendover, Utah.
Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main Street in Burley.
DOROTHY MARKER
BURLEY - Dorothy May Marker, 85-year-old Burley resident passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.
She was born January 12, 1918, in Englewood, Colo., the youngest of nine children born to Erastus Elroy and Bernetta Vernelia Gates Gilbert. She attended school in Colorado.
Dorothy married Denzil Earl Marker on August 3, 1946, in Hamilton, Mont. They spent 57 wonderful years together. Dorothy and Denzil were actively involved in the Old Time Fiddlers' Association for 34 years.
Dorothy was the accompanist. She was an active member of the Congregational Bible Church, where she considered the members to be her extended family. She was a member of the Ruth Rebekah #107 in Burley and the Silverleaf Rebekah #27 in Challis.
Those who knew Dorothy loved her for her loving, caring, unselfishness toward her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, SM\Sgt Ret. Denzil Marker, of Burley; a son, Frank E. (Kathy) Marker of Burley; two daughters, Peggy Lee (Curt) Weise of Naples, and Marjorie B. Gardner of Rexburg; 15 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
At Dorothy's request no services are planned.

VIRGINIA B. GURR
BURLEY - Virginia Belle Nelson Burns Gurr, 94, of Burley, was called home on Friday evening, April 11, 2003.
She was born February 23, 1909, in Fairview, Utah, the daughter of Franz Edward and Mary Elizabeth Brady Nelson. She was the ninth of eleven children. She attended school in Fairview. She met and married Vivian Burns in Fairview, and he passed away in Battle Mountain, Nevada. She later married Thomas Marsh Gurr.
In 1944, she and Tom moved to Burley, where they started a trucking and coal business, which they operated until 1970.
Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of Business and Professional Women's Club, Royal Neighbors, Rebecca's, and was a charter member of the Sweet Adelines.
She has resided at Parke View Care & Rehabilitation Center for the past four years.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Ronnie) Burns of Boise, Elizabeth (Tom) Coleman of Auburn, Calif., Jack (Erma) Redd of Bountiful, Utah, Bill (Virginia) Redd of Blanding, Utah, Virginia (Jim) Fox of Rupert, Grace (Russell) Jensen of Burley, Tommy (Helen) Gurr of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Margie (Bud) Barnes of Kanab, Utah; 28 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, Vivian Burns, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Gurr; all of her siblings; and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at the Burley West Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2420 Park Avenue, with Bishop Douglas Whipple officiating. Burial will be in Gem Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, Burley, on Tuesday, from 6 until 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday, from 10 until 10:45 a.m.
MARJEAN BRIGGS
BURLEY - MarJean Johnson Briggs, 74-year-old Burley resident passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
She was born January 6, 1929, in Shelley, Idaho, the daughter of Leslie Ivan and Ruby Kelley Johnson. She attended school in Shelley and Pocatello. She also attended the Cosmetology College in Ogden, Utah.
MarJean married Wallace Orval Briggs on March 21, 1951, in Shelley. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in August of 1957. They resided in Malta for thirty years. After Wally retired they moved to Burley. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2000.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many capacities.
Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Wood and Kelly (Dean) Rose, all of Burley; four sons, Allan Briggs of Sugar City, Terry (Darlene) Briggs of Malta, Michael (Sharolyn) Briggs of Burley, and Jeffrey Briggs of Loomis, California; a sister, Ann (Max) Sievers of Idaho Falls; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a step son, Craig Elmo Briggs; a daughter-in-law, Marion Briggs; and two brothers, Cleon Johnson and Keith Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Burley 2nd, 4th, & 10th Ward Chapel, 515 East 16th Street, with Bishop Monte B. Carlson, officiating. The burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in the Valley Vu Cemetery
in Malta.

Terrance A. Gulley
Coeur d' Alene - Terrance A. Gulley, 87, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 4, 2003, in Coeur d'Alene.
He was born on May 23, 1915, in Greenleaf, to Everett and Lura Gulley.
Terrance spent his childhood in Idaho and the SE area of Oregon, and attended Pacific College (now George Fox University) in Newberg, Ore.
'T.A.' married Wanda L. Jordan, Jan. 21, 1938, in Boise.
Terrance worked for the Ontario Grocery Company for six years. Then following in his father's footsteps went to work for the Bureau of Reclamation.
'Terry' worked for the Bureau 32 years. He worked on the Owyhee Project, Boise Projects, and Black Canyon. He was also Engineering Aid in the Boise Project office. In 1955 he moved his family from Boise to Rupert where he was watermaster of the Minidoka Project on the north side pumping division.
He was Irrigation Manager of the Minidoka Project and, the last 10 years of his career He was Chief of River Operations out of the Burley office. He received many awards for his long and meritorious service and was inducted into the Idaho Water Users Association Hall of Fame in 1977.
Terrance and Wanda retired and moved back to the Boise valley in 1976.
During their years together they had been active members of the Nazarene Church and the Friends Church. Terrance served many years as church pianist.
He was also a member of the Greenleaf Brass, playing saxophone, piano and melodica.
Besides playing music his hobbies included fishing and hunting, and raising horses.
Family life was a priority to Terrance. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a quiet, gentle man with a great dry sense of humor.
He and Wanda have lived in Coeur d'Alene since January 2001, during his extended illness.
Terrance is survived by his wife, Wanda, at home, his daughter and son-in-law, Buz and Linda Bloodgood, Coeur d'Alene; his son, Terry Gulley, Caldwell; three grandchildren, Bret Bloodgood, Tera Ewert, Jennifer Gulley and three great grandchildren.
His parents and brother, John, preceded him in death.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Greenleaf Friends Church at 1 p.m. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene is in charge of the arrangements.

RAY CHUGG
BURLEY- Howard Ray Chugg, 74-year-old Burley resident died Friday, April 11, 2003, at his home in Burley.
He was born May 16, 1928, in Rupert, the son of Pete and Florence Mortenson Chugg. His mother died when he was a child and his father died when he was 15, so he moved to California to live with relatives.
At the age of 17 he joined the Merchant Marines where he served for two years.
He married Colleen Crandall. They were later divorced. He then joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for 22 years. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1967. Following his discharge he moved to Orem, Utah, and worked as a jeweler. He was an excellent diamond setter.
Ray married Edith Chandler on April 12, 1981, in Elko, Nev. They made their home in Burley. Ray continued to work as a jeweler and was known as "The Ring Doctor." He and his wife also ran the Bargain Center for ten years. For the past eight years Ray has been attending Open Bible College at the Institute of Theology by Extension and two weeks ago qualified to teach level two of the Bible Courses.
Survivors include his wife, Edith of Burley; four daughters, Rae Ellen Huntington and Julie Flinders, both of Orem, Utah, Alice Duncan and Carla Divine, both of LaFayette, Colo.; a step son, Donald Teal of Malta; three step daughters, Georgia Grau of Caldwell, Sherry Thompson of Heyburn, and Renee Erickson of Burley; a sister, Gerri McMillion of Burley; 28 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fay Chugg; a sister, Carma Lee Janson; and two step sons, Dennie Ray Rutledge and David Roy Rutledge.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Praise Chapel, 707 F. Street in Rupert, with Pastor David Graham, officiating. Military rites are under the direction of local veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary in Burley.
