Bruce Allen Combs
Benton City, Wash. - Bruce Allen Combs, 46, of Benton City, Wash., died Tuesday evening, July 29, 2003, near Oakley, while visiting his in-laws, Alvin and RaNae Bradshaw of Burley.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Benton City 2nd Ward Chapel, Benton City, Wash.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, Wash., on Sunday, from 4-7 p.m., and at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley.
FRED C. BAINES
KINGMAN, Ariz. - Fred C. Baines, former Burley resident, died July 26, 2003, at the Kingman Regional Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 8, 1934 to Joe and Eunice Baines. Fred was raised at Fruitland, where he excelled in sports. He was named to the all-state basketball team.
He attended Boise State Junior College and joined the U.S. Navy.
After being discharged from the navy, Fred married Darline Griggs, Aug. 22, 1959.
They had four sons. They made their home in Burley where Fred farmed for several years.
He was a member of the Burley B.P.O. Elks for many years.
Darline died May, 1979, after an extended battle with cancer.
Fred later married Louise Carter Strawn. They lived in Burley several years before moving to Kingman.
He is survived by his wife of Kingman, sons: Steve, Madison, Wis., Ron, Payette, Bryan, Boise and Alan, Burley; his mother Eunice Baines, Payette; sister, Joan Nitz, Meridian; brother, Lonnie, Vancouver, Wash.; and stepdaughter Teresa Strawn of El Cajon, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darline, his father, Joe, and brothers Eugene and Bob.
Services will be at 11 a.m., August 4, at Shafer-Jensen Funeral Home in Payette.
MARVIN E. TREMAYNE
Marvin Tremayne passed away on July 3, 2003, in Fountain Valley, Calif., as a result of respiratory failure.
He was born in Albion on September 17, 1924. He served his country during WW II in the Merchant Marines. He married Fern Sorensen of Burley and they raised four children in Albion.
Marvin owned and operated a service station for many years, then retired and moved to Orange County, Calif. His great passion was raising and racing his thoroughbred horses.
Marvin is preceded in death by his son, Randy; his daughter, Eileen; and his wife, Fern; his parents, Matthew and Margaret Tremayne, two brothers, Raymond and Roy, and a sister, Kathleen Verboomen.
He is survived by his daughter, Marla Lenz of Roy, Utah; his son, Franklin of Westminster, Calif.; a grandson, Shane Lenz of Layton, Utah; a granddaughter, Amanda Lenz, of Apple Valley, Minn.; and three sisters: Jane Croft of Shoshone, Velma Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev. Ruth Foster of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and four brothers: Leland of Idaho Falls, Lindy of Pocatello, Glenn of Shoshone and Alton of Burley.
A memorial service honoring Marvin's life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the Albion LDS Church, followed by a graveside Veteran's Color Guard and dedication.
Nestor Gerhardt
Burley - Nestor Gerhardt, 58, of Burley, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 7, 1945, in Hale Center, Texas, the son of Albert and Florence Tiugillo Gerhardt. He received his education in Hale Center. He married Esperanza Rojas on July 31, 1963, in Burley, where they made their home and where he has since resided.
Nestor was a hard worker! He worked the majority of his life as a farmer and most recently was employed as a custodian at Minico High School. He enjoyed working in his yard, playing with his grandchildren, and being with family and friends.
Nestor helped raise his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts. May God give him peace and joy.
He is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Esperanza Gerhardt of Burley; his loving children, Nestor (Debbie) Gerhardt, Jr. of Rupert, Ruben (Melissa) Gerhardt of Burley, and Isabel (Casey) Nielson of Heyburn; four grandchildren; and his siblings, Rosa (Pedro) Rivera of Amarillo, Texas, Regino (Maggie) Gerhardt of Hale Center, Texas, Adolf Gerhardt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, George (Delores) Gerhardt of Rupert, Luis Gerhardt of Texas, Tina Gerhardt of Hale Center, Texas, Dennis (Dora) Gerhardt of Fortworth, Texas, and Artie Gerhardt of Hale Center, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sylvia Ann Gerhardt; a grandson, Dominik Gerhardt; three brothers, George, Juan, and Ramon; and one sister, Corrina Rodriguez.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at the Christian Center Assembly of God Church, 317 West 27th St., Burley, with Pastor Doyle Fulkes officiating Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.

JAUNITA O. CRAWFORD
GREEN VALLEY, Arizona - Jaunita O. Crawford, 85, died June 10, 2003.
She was a resident of Green Valley for 25 years, formerly from Island Park. She was born in Burley.
She was an artist.
She is survived by her husband, George Crawford, and a son, Lindsay (Jane) Crawford of Roseburg, Ore.
Services are under the direction of Green Valley Mortuary & Memorial Gardens of Green Valley.
BRUCIA CRANE
KASOTA - Brucia Gordon Crane, passed away at the home of her daughter, the 13th of June, 2003. She was born the 9th of January, 1927 in Kevin, Montana at her grandparents' home.
She was the second of six children to Douglas Edgar and Bess Marler Gordon. Her young years were spent among the Sweet Grass Hills and in the shadow of Chief Mountain on the Blackfeet Reservation. It was in these settings that she acquired her deep love of nature and respect for diversity of people.
The war years found her in Sandpoint where she met, at church, a young LDS sailor named Rex Keller Crane who subsequently was invited to dinner. Following a brief courtship, they were married the 2nd of December, 1944.
Rex shipped out with the U.S. Navy to New Caledonia in the South Pacific for the rest of World War II. Once reunited, they made their home in Mink Creek. Here they started life together and had a family of seven children. Later, they established a homestead in the Kasota area.
Brucia worked on the farm, and later as a clerk at Miller Drug in Burley. She also worked at Paul Drug, as a substitute teacher, and in the GED program for CSI in Burley. She loved her contact with people and made many good friends through the years.
Throughout her life, she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Trail Blazer leader several times, in Young Womens, Relief Society teacher for many years and was on the Relief Society general board for the stake.
Brucia is survived by six of her children, Rex (Kel) Keller and Karen Crane of Shoshone, Sheryl and Bob May, Paul, Idaho, Brucia Linda and Jeff Shewmaker, Jerome, Angus Edgar Crane, Alexandria, Virginia, Jon Gordon Crane, Hazelton, and William Bruce and Shauna Crane, Logan, Utah. Her siblings are, Doug and Jean Gordon, Shelby, Mont., Gem and Carl Dahlen, Cut Bank, Mont., Jock and Marion Gordon, Twin Falls, and Bill and Mary Gordon, Lewistown, Mont..
Her posterity includes 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her infant sister, Hattie, her husband, a son, Dan Gordon Crane, and two grandsons, Charlie Russell Crane and Lincoln Daniel Crane.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Emerson Ward Chapel, 950 West 125 South of Paul, with Bishop Ted Tateoka, officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Mink Creek Cemetery, Mink Creek. Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main Street in Burley on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral on Monday.
HELEN CARSON
EUGENE, Ore. - After a long fight with cancer, Helen Carson passed away in Eugene, Ore., June 1, 2003. She was 86.
She was born in Declo, Feb. 16, 1917. She graduated from Declo High School. She married Ernie Dayley. They moved their family to Oregon in 1952 and ranched there until 1964. They returned to Burley and began selling shoes at Dayley's Shoe Store. Ernie passed away Oct. 25, 1982. Helen married Gordan in May 1983. He passed away Feb. 6, 2001.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws, Joan and Jack Ryder of Eugene, Ore.; Verona and Chet Schooler of Klamath Falls, Ore; son and daughter-in-law Gray and Robin Dayley of Anchorage, Ala.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Helen enjoyed gardening and her flowers, and visiting with family and friends.
The children are planning a Celebration of Life for her later this summer.
CHRISTINE HOLIEN BRADSHAW
Christine Holien Bradshaw, 97, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Parke View Care Center in Burly.
Christine was born December 9, 1905, in Cando, N.D. the daughter of Andrew and Marit (Almberg) Holien. She married William G. Bradshaw August 12, 1922, in Churchs Ferry, N.D..
Bill and Christine moved with their children to Milner in 1931 where she resided until September of 1999. At that time she went to live at Parke View Care Center in Burley. She was a homemaker and belonged to the Homemakers Club, Community Friendship Club and worked for many years on the election board in Milner. She loved crocheting and doing embroidery work.
Christine was a member of the Lutheran Church. She loved playing the piano and played for the church services that were held in the one room schoolhouse at Milner for many years. She is survived by seven children; Alice Lind of Boise, Bernard Bradshaw of Gibbonsville, Eleanor (Lowell) Hewlett of Burley, Harold Bradshaw of Parker, Colo., Joyce (Raymond) Olson of Milner, Richard Bradshaw of Phoenix, Ariz., and Vernon (Rose) Bradshaw of Milner; a daughter-in-law Marjorie Bradshaw of Milner; a son-in-law Larry Mahler of Twin Falls; 25 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, a son William, a daughter Betty Mahler, a son in law Wyland Lind, a daughter in law Mickey Bradshaw, two grandchildren, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2003, at White Mortuary Chapel by the Park with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
Friends and family may call at White Mortuary on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
JASON STONE
Burley - Jason Fredrick Stone, 21, of Burley, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Oakley, from injuries received in a vehicular accident.
He was born April 7, 1982, in Rupert, Idaho, the son of Larry John and Debra Kay Mayer Stone. He received his education in Burley, graduating from Burley High School in 2000. Following graduation, he worked at Auto Shine Detailing, Graphic Signs Sibbetts, Underground Communication, and at the time of death was employed at McCains in Burley.
Jason loved people! He enjoyed being with his friends and family. He liked to fish, hunt, and camp. He especially enjoyed snowboarding, all outdoor sports and working with his hands and doing mechanical work on go-carts.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Larry and Anita Stone, of Burley; his mother, Debra Mayer of Boise, his two-year-old brother (whom he adored), Adam Stone of Burley; two sisters, Heather (Barry) McCray and Mandi Stone of Burley; one half-sister, Lisa Jancik of Twin Falls; his grandparents, Bill and Joy Platts of Burley, Iris Stone of Jerome, Kerry and Loretta Osterhout of Malta, and Avanell Mayer of Rupert; his great-grandmother, Anna Preston of Burley; a nephew Dakota McCray; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special and devoted friend, Jennifer Norvell of Burley.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, John Stone and Fred Mayer; and his brother, Samuel John Stone.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Star First and Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100 South 200 West, Burley, with Bishop Paul Hobson officiating. Burial will be in Gem Memorial Gardens.
