BRIAN D. MONCUR
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Brian Moncur passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 in a farming accident.
Brian was born in Burley, the son of Marion and Betty Moncur of Heyburn.
Brian attended school at Heyburn and graduated from Minico High School. Following graduation, he married Susan Egbert, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred Egbert of Paul, on Oct. 14, 1967.
After attending college at BYU, Brian was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. After serving a tour of duty in VietNam, Brian was honorably discharged in 1972.
Brian and Susan lived in the Paul area where they farmed and began their family.
They relocated to the Bakersfield area in 1978, and have resided there until the present. Brian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over the years.
He is survived by his wife Susan; a daughter Jennette; four sons, Jaron, Marcus, Justin, Matthew and their respective families including five grandchildren; a brother, Stan; two sisters, Carolee and Connie; and Susan's parents.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at the Fruitvale L.D.S. Ward building, 5500 Fruitvale Avenue, Bakersfield, Calif.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church, and from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Hillcrest Memorial funeral home in Bakersfield.
Burial will be with military rights at the Bakersfield cemetery.
William Brian Drew
Paul - William Brian Drew, 50, of Paul, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, of Kidney Cancer.
He was born May 22, 1953, in Rupert, Idaho, the son of William C. and W. Christine Dorsey Drew. He attended school in Minidoka County graduating from Minico High School in 1971. He then continued his education at the University of Idaho in Moscow.
Brian was a hard worker. He had a love for his family, friends, and neighbors being willing to help them with any task and at any time. He enjoyed writing and reading poetry, playing the harmonica, and working on the family farm.
Brian had a love for Jesus. He enjoyed attending church and was active when able. He was a member of the Burley First Presbyterian Church and attended Calvary Chapel in Twin Falls. He was a determined individual which helped him fight the good fight until his passing.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Christine Drew of Heyburn; his siblings, Damon Drew of Grass Valley, California, Robin Drew (Richard) Morris of Heyburn, Corinne Drew (Terry) Bly of Nampa, David Drew of Burley, and Tyson (Brenda) Drew of Seward, Alaska; his maternal grandparents, Everett and Bessie Dorsey of Paul; and 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William A. and Flora Drew.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 515 West 27th Street, Burley, with Pastor John L. Ramey officiating.
Friends and family may call at the church prior to the service.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church or Gideons International, in care of Rasmussen Funeral Home.
Arrangements are in the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, Burley.
Glenn Draper
Burley - Russell Glenn Draper, 89, of Burley, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1914, in Gunison, Sanpete County, Utah, the son of Henry Wallace and Myrium Lenora Mann Draper. He moved to Idaho at a young age where he attended school in Oakley and Burley. On April 5, 1951, Glenn married Carrie Piland in Burley.
Glenn worked for the J.R. Simplot Company's Burley Processing Plant as a plant superintendent and he and his wife Carrie, owned and operated Carrie's Ceramics for many years. He served the community in various ways.
He was active in the Golden Heritage Senior Citizens, was a charter member of the Cassia County Historical Society, and was active in the Cassia County Fair. Together, Glenn and Carrie started the Flower Show at the Fair.
He was an avid reader which led him to serving on the Burley Public Library Board, was helpful in creating the Book Seller and was a Friend of the Library.
He was also a member of the Circus Fans Association and the Circus Model Builder Association.
He loved his family and enjoyed being with people. Glenn will always be remembered for his love to walk. He spent countless hours walking throughout Burley and the Mini-Cassia Community visiting with family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his children, Harlean (Phillip) Heiner of Burley, Dean (Marge) Draper of Burley, Veleta (Don) Stafney of Woodburn, Oregon, Mary Matthews of Heyburn, Nancy (Marlin) Hull of Burley, Velma (Raymond) Armstrong of Kimberly, and Judy Muren of Burley; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carrie Draper; a stepdaughter, Helen Runyan; two sisters; four brothers; one grandson; and two granddaughters.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Burley West Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2420 Parke Ave., with Bishop R. Scott Bray officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery
in Heyburn.
Friends may call from 6until 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Edward D. Coltrin
Edward D. Coltrin, 73, of Burley, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born on April 16, 1930, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. He was the son of David B. Coltrin and Edna M. Kennedy. He lived with his grandparents, Harvey and Betsy Coltrin from the time he was five-years-old until he was 14. He lived at Stibnite until moving to Burley. He graduated from Burley High School with the class of 1948. He attended Idaho State College at Pocatello for two years and began working as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest for many years. He filled a two-year mission to Tennessee and Kentucky. He served for five and one-half years in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1958, as a Sergeant First Class. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He married Charlotte LaVon Peterson on Dec. 4, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had five children: Algot Harvey, David Eric, Peggy Jane, Dale Edward, and Steven Michael. He had two sisters, Edith Joan Coltrin, and Enola Arline Hoyt; two stepsisters, Wilma Manning Hildebrand, and Doris Manning Hess; and five stepbrothers, Don Manning, Dean Manning, Cloyd Manning, Gale Manning, and Jay Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one stepsister, a stepbrother; and one grandson. He has eight grandchildren.
He worked in the heavy equipment field nearly all of his life. For ten years he worked for Western Equipment Company and for 17 years for NC Machinery Company, retiring in 1993. He loved Cat yellow machinery and worked in several departments in the NC Machinery Company. One of the highlights was going to Alaska, where he worked with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, who was on a contract for Oil Analysis on a large number of heavy equipment machines.
After the pipeline was built, he was transferred to Seattle, where he managed the Oil Analysis Lab and worked in the Human Resources Department. In 1993, he retired and moved to Burley. He worked in the Boise temple until his health did not allow him to drive. He loved the Lord and his family and served where he could.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at the Star First and Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100 South 200 West, Burley. Officiating will be Bart Beck, First Counselor of the Star First Ward Bishopric. Burial will be in Pella Cemetery.

HAROLD MIKE LEONARD
NAMPA - Mike Leonard, 56, of Magna, Utah, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Nampa, after a battle with cancer.
Mike was born Sept. 10, 1947 in Twin Falls. After graduating from high school in Rupert he enlisted in the army, serving in Vietnam. His Army career continued working active duty with the reserves. He worked in drywall with his family. He graduated from College of Southern Idaho in small engine repair, working in Twin Falls, before his move to Magna, where he continued to do drywall construction.
Mike was an avid pool player all of his life, still on a league in Magna. He spent his last months visiting with family, fishing and crocheting.
He is survived by his children: Shannen (Shawn) Peterson of Blackfoot, Mickey (John) Palmer of McCammon, and Cyle (Kelli) Edwards of Rupert; brothers: Earl (Kathy) and Bruce of Nampa; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Service, Nampa.
Marcos Verdin
Oakley - Marcos Verdin, 56, of Oakley, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
He was born Oct. 7, 1947, in San Francisco del Rincon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Andres and Rosa Maria Martinez Verdin.
He attended schools in Mexico. In 1972, Marcos moved to Oakley, Idaho, where he started his working career with Chick and Bud Bedke. He later became a Stone Contractor for Northern Stone in Oakley, where he has worked for many, many years.
He is survived by his father, Andres of Mexico; children, Mistelle Marshall of Sicily, Italy, Marc Shadden of Rupert, and Blaine Shadden of Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandson (who was his pride and joy), Christopher "George" Marshall of Sicily, Italy; ten sisters and two brothers, including Fernando (Aurelia) Verdin (who was by his side when he died) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Maria (Juventino) Estrada also of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two sisters; and three brothers.
A vigil service with recitation of the rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Avenue, Burley. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Little Flower Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Juan Garatea as celebrant. Burial will be in the Basin Cemetery
near Oakley.
Family and friends may call at the church on Monday, from 4 to 5 p.m., and on Tuesday, from 10-10:45 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley.
