Alvin Jensen
Ashton - Alvin Kay Jensen, 47, of Rock Springs, Wyoming and formerly of Ashton, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in Ashton from injuries sustained in a dune buggy accident.
He was born February 6, 1957 in Burley, Idaho to Albert Lamont and LuDean Judd Jensen. He attended schools in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1975.
He joined the US Navy in 1976. He served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
He was proud to have served his country. He retired from the military in 1995. He moved to Rock Springs in 2002 where he worked as a material handler for Univar USA.
He married Gina Matzke on Jan. 17, 2004 and they made their home in Rock Springs.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed driving his dune buggy that he had built. He liked to work with computers and ride motorcycles. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting guns. He loved to spend time with his family, especially with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Gina of Rock Springs; parents, Lamont and LuDean Jensen of Ashton; siblings, Delray (Barbara) Jensen of Ashton, Deanna Carson of Declo, Idaho, Ronald (Janeth) Jensen of Bagdad, Arizona, Arnold (Carol) Jensen of Ashton; his grandmother, Marie Fern Judd of Heyburn, Idaho; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Ashton 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Dennis Fransen officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home in Ashton and Monday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
FRANCIS M. WOODARD
IDAHO FALLS - Francis Merley Woodard, 62, of Idaho Falls, died Aug. 15, 2004, of a stroke at the University of Utah Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1942, in Richfield, Utah, to Clyde Haken Woodard and Harriet Yates Woodard. He grew up and attended schools in Burley. He served an LDS mission to Manchester, England, then attended BYU where he earned a double Ph.D. in Family Studies and Sociology in 1978.
He married Sheila Ragozzine on Dec. 26, 1969, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. As a very spiritual husband and father, his family and his church were his life.
He taught at BYU and was an Associate Professor at Weber State, Cameron University in Oklahoma, and Stout University in Wisconsin. He returned to Idaho Falls and started his own business, Life-Cycle Counseling, where he served for 14 years. He was the only therapist from southeastern Idaho to perform evaluations on young adults for the popular television show, "Switched." He had also served as President of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, gardening, camping, scouting, traveling, and Dutch oven cooking.
Survivors are his wife, Sheila of Idaho Falls; daughter, Corby (Craig) Orullian of Lehi, Utah; son, Joseph Haken Woodard of Idaho Falls; son, Jared Francis (Elizabeth) Woodard of San Antonio, Tex.; uncle (surrogate father) Francis M. Carter of Burley; cousin/sister, Glena (Gary) Turner of Burley; six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at the Idaho Falls LDS 28th Ward, 1165 Azalea, with Bishop Cleo Geddes officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Burley at Pleasant View Cemetery
under the direction of Wood Funeral Home at approximately 3:30 p.m. that afternoon, Aug. 21, 2004.
Gary Eugene Whitehead
Gary Eugene Whitehead, 46, of Twin Falls, passed away July 25, 2004 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Gooding County.
Gary was born May 16, 1958 in Twin Falls, the son of Richard and Theresa Hinkley Whitehead. Gary grew up and attended schools in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1976. He then attended Ricks College in Rexburg.
In 1977, Gary received his mission call and served in the Dallas-Fort Worth Mission in Dallas, Texas for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There he met a great friend, Steve Willis and this friendship continued through his life.
Upon returning home, Gary worked side by side with his family and became a supervisor for Whitehead Home & Energy. Gary met the love of his life, Valorie Mencl in Twin Falls, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Feb. 9, 1980. They settled in Twin Falls, and to this union were born three children, Brenda, Kody and Stacie. Gary and Valorie were always together and wherever one was, the other was not far away. They loved spending time with each other and being each other's best friends.
Gary was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle, grandpa and friend. He adored his family, his wife and his children were his life. His granddaughter, Kaleigh Jo was so precious to him and she was his "Pride and Joy." He loved spending time fishing, deer, elk and duck hunting with his Dad, Kody, and his brothers, David and Brent. They had many adventures together with many fond memories to treasure. Gary loved riding motorcycles, baseball, either playing or watching the games. He was a real outdoorsman and spent many happy vacations with his family in the mountains and at Alturas Lake. They were his favorite spots.
Gary was a hard worker. He always gave 100 percent of himself to any task at hand and perfection in all things was his goal. He was an honest man and his word was his bond. Gary was a good friend and a good neighbor. He was always watching out for them and could be counted on if ever they were in need. He taught his kids to ride bikes, throw a baseball and play catch, ride motorcycles, water-ski and snow ski. Gary was proud of his kids, and had a most kind and compassionate heart. He loved the way that Kody was always ready to go hunting with him, the way that Brenda played the fiddle and the songs that Stacie played on the piano.
From a very young age, Gary was known for his sense of humor and the tricks he loved to play on his family. Gary was an active member of the LDS 6th Ward in Twin Falls and held many different positions of service. Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Gary are his children, Brenda Whitehead (Michael) Alderman of Meridian, Kody Whitehead and Stacie Whitehead, both of Twin Falls; his parents, Dick and Terry Whitehead of Twin Falls, brothers, Dave (Patti) Whitehead of Whitefish, Mont., Brent (Julie) Whitehead of Twin Falls, sisters, Carolyn (Brent) Jensen of Michigan, and Rachelle (Darrin) Borges of Filer, and one granddaughter, Kaleigh Jo Alderman of Meridian. Also surviving are his in-laws, George and Barbara Mencl of Twin Falls, brother-in-law, John (Carol) Mencl of Salem. Ore., sisters-in-law, Nita (Jerry) May of Pocatello, Tami (Don) Thueson of Twin Falls, and Sally (Tim) Ross of Nashville, Tenn, a host of nieces and nephews and among his many friends, two very special people, Lawrence Wasden and Steve Willis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 6th Ward, 667 Harrison St., Twin Falls, with Bishop Bob Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Twin Falls Cemetery
in Twin Falls.
Friends may call Friday, July 30, 2004, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls and one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be given to the Gary and Valorie Whitehead Memorial Fund to ensure their children have every opportunity for educational advancement. These may given to the Funeral Home staff or taken to the U.S. Bank in Twin Falls.
Valorie Jo Whitehead
Valorie Jo Whitehead, 46, of Twin Falls, passed away July 25, 2004, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Gooding County.
Valorie was born Feb. 19, 1958, in Twin Falls, the daughter of George and Barbara Scott Mencl. Valorie met the love of her life, Gary Whitehead in Twin Falls, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. They settled in Twin Falls and to this union were born three children, Brenda, Kody and Stacie. Gary and Valorie were always together and wherever one was, the other was not far away. They loved spending time with each other and being each other's best friends. Gary loved to challenge Valorie to try and keep up with them. She never backed down and would take most any dare; Almost fearless and willing to try new things.
She was jovial and had a perpetual smile on her face. Her laugh was infectious and you always felt better after you had spent time with her.
She was warm and loving and could always be counted on to be understanding if you had a problem. She was a good listener and would keep your secrets. Valorie was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma, friend and confidante. She cherished her role as mother and grandmother, more than any other. Valorie was her children's best friend.
She was a peacemaker and a lover, not a fighter. She always had patience for her children, and in her eyes, Kaleigh Jo could do no wrong. "She was grandma's little angel." She loved to cook and her brownies and her chocolate chip cookies couldn't be beat. Kody had just recently added "Dory" his brand new puppy to the family and Valorie adored her. Happiness was a very important factor in Valorie's life. Her husband's happiness and her children's happiness were always foremost in her mind. She was constantly worrying about whether the kids were taken care of. Valorie was an active member of the LDS Church 6th Ward in Twin Falls.
She had attended Beauty School and as a result she would cut everyone's hair in the family. When her girls were growing up, she loved dressing them up and doing their hair. She was proud of her family and her sisters were her best friends. In her spare time, Valorie would ride motorcycles with Gary and go hunting and fishing with him. Even in death, they are as in life, Always Together.
Surviving Valorie are her children, Brenda "Whitehead" (Michael) Alderman of Meridian, Kody Whitehead and Stacie Whitehead, both of Twin Falls; her parents, George and Barbara Mencl of Twin Falls, brother, John (Carol) Mencl of Salem. Ore., sisters, Nita (Jerry) May of Pocatello, Tami (Don) Thueson of Twin Falls, and Sally (Tim) Ross of Nashville, a host of nieces and nephews and her very good friend, Candace Whitaker. Also surviving are her in-laws, Dick and Terry Whitehead of Twin Falls, brothers-in-law, Dave (Patti) Whitehead of Whitefish, Mont., Brent (Julie) Whitehead of Twin Falls, sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Brent) Jensen of Michigan, and Rachelle (Darrin) Borges of Filer, and one granddaughter, Kaleigh Jo Alderman of Meridian. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, George Mencl Jr.

Melburn L. Seal
POTLATCH - Melburn L. Seal, 76, former Rupert Resident, died July 11, 2004, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash., from complications from heart surgery.
Seal was born March 10, 1928 in Rupert to Ralph and Margaret Adams Seal.
He grew up and attended schools in Rupert.
He married Betty Ransom in 1947 and they made their home in Rupert.
In 1955 the couple moved to Potlatch where Mel worked in the lumber industry for 35 years.
After his retirement he worked during harvest for local farmers.
He enjoyed traveling, rodeos, horses, farming and gardening.
Survivors include his wife Betty, two sons, Dave (Vicky) Seal of Selah Washington, Dan Seal of Pullman Wash.; seven brothers, UDell and Larry Seal, both of Rupert; Richard Seal of LasVegas, Johnny Seal of Twin Falls, Jerry Seal of Enumclaw Wash., Donald Seal of Wells Nev., and Bruce Seal of Nampa; four sisters, Maurine Smiley of Vadar Wash., Hazel Adair of Potlatch, Darlene Frankenberg of Boise, and Betty Adams of Malta; six grandchildren, Joe, Marnie, Ryan, Karrie, Rochelle and Erin; and three great-grandchildren, Keiffer, McKenna and Conner.
A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Freeze Cemetery
in Potlatch.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63 Potlatch, ID, 83855.

Angelica G. Ochoa
Heyburn - Angelica G. Ochoa, 65-year-old Heyburn resident, passed away July 29, 2004, at her home.
Angelica was born Aug. 2, 1938, in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of Hermerejildo and Josefina DeLa Fuente Garcia.
She married Octaviano Ochoa July 27, 1956, in Breckenridge, Texas.
They later moved to Mini-Cassia in 1965.
Angelica loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She enjoyed cooking for her family, reading and studying the scriptures, and traveling. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by her eight children; Octaviano Ochoa Jr., Houston, Texas, Juan Jose Ochoa, Houston, Texas, Gicela Moreno, Burley, Angie Ochoa,
Burley, Diane Ochoa, Burley, Carmen Leon, Rupert, Maria Ochoa, Rupert, and Miroslava Sotelo, Burley; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Octaviano Ochoa; her parents; a sister; a brother and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel, 321 East Main Street, with Juan Jose Ochoa officiating.
