Juan Carlos Espinoza
Burley - Juan Carlos Espinoza, a 29-year-old resident of Burley, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical in Boise, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born Nov. 27, 1974, in Coneo, Michoacan, Mexico, the son of Manuel and Margarita Garcia Espinoza. He received his education in Burley, graduating from Burley High School. He was a Boy Scout and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going camping. At the time of his death, he was employed for Golden Valley Warehouse south of Burley.
He is survived by his parents, Manuel and Margarita Espinoza of Burley; one daughter, Guadalupe Espinoza, and one son, Juan Manuel Espinoza both of Burley; his brothers and sisters, Adrian (Julie) Espinoza of Rupert, Manuel (Veronica) Espinoza, Cecilia (Rodolfo) Ruiz, and Alejandra Espinoza all of Burley; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A vigil service with recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave. Burley. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, also at Little Flower Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Juan Garatea as celebrant.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the rosary on Tuesday, and one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Wednesday, at the church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley.
Verletta Mendenhall Anderson
Hazelton - Verletta Mendenhall Anderson, 88 years old and a resident of the Kasota area passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Nov. 28, 2004 at Cassia Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 16, 1916 in Niter, Idaho to Bert and Hazel Taylor Mendenhall. Growing up, Verletta lived in Salt Lake City where she graduated from West High School in 1934.
She then attended Quish Beauty School. Verletta was a faithful member of the LDS Church, and as a young woman, she served in the Eastern Canadian Mission. This is where she met her future husband, Raymond Hill Anderson, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 28,1940.
Verletta was a wonderful wife and mother, and she and Raymond greatly enjoyed their family of eight children. They lived in Clearfield, Utah, until they moved to the Kasota area where they have lived for the last 47 years.
Verletta was a charter member of the Kasota Sagehens. She has served as a Primary teacher, Young Women's President, a Relief Society President and was a faithful visiting teacher for over 60 years in the Emerson 1st Ward. She and Raymond served a mission to Columbus, Ohio and Cherry Creek, South Dakota. They enjoyed traveling, having visited Africa and Japan.
She was an active member of DUP and gave countless hours of service as a Pink Lady at Cassia Memorial Hospital. She baked thousands of cinnamon rolls for the Festival of Trees each year and belonged to a group called "The Sixteeners" for more than 64 years.
Surviving Verletta are eight children, Steve (Susan) Anderson of Syracuse, Utah; Mar Jean (Paul Lewis), Camarillo, Calif.; Gary (Diane) Anderson, Upland, Calif.; Donald (Joan) Anderson, Jerome; Ronald (Kathy) Anderson, Henderson, Nev.; Kevin (Johanna) Anderson, Kasota; Kim (Helen) Anderson, Chicago, Ill.; and Debra (Michael) Branaum, Acequia; 43 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving companion of 63 years, Raymond, her parents, sisters, Leota Owens, Ethel Potts, brothers Gene and Ralph Mendenhall. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 2004 @ 11 a.m. at the Emerson Ward. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Emerson Ward 127 S. 950 W., Paul and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Graveside services will be Saturday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse Cemetery
in Syracuse, UT. Services are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls.
Nora Mable Robeson
Burley - Nora Mable Robeson, an 80-year-old Burley resident, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Rosetta Assisted Living.
She was born June 27, 1924, to William and Eva Reitenbaugh.
Mable was preceded in death by husband Thomas E. Robeson. She is survived by six children; Carol Ross, Eva Dowell, Joyce Burk, Darrel Robeson, Betty Hayden, Bruce Robeson and spouses; two sisters, Maymie Wright, and Blanche Hart; a brother, Richard Reitenbaugh.
A viewing will be held Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel. A short service will be held during the viewing at 7 p.m.
A private burial will be Monday at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.

DOMINGO OLIVAS
BURLEY - Our loving husband and father, Domingo Olivas, 82-year-old Burley resident went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the Burley Care Center.
He was born March 18, 1922, in Raton, New Mexico, the son of Jacob and Josephita Gallegos Olivas. He married Margaret Martinez on May 27, 1943, in Oak Creek, Colorado.
He had worked in the coal mines and in the trucking, farming, carpentry, and construction business and then became self employed. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Domingo enjoyed fishing, hunting, pool, and outdoor sports with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Burley; six daughters, Stella Ahumada of Ogden, Utah, Linda Gallegos and Elaine Valdez, both of Espanola, New Mexico, Lorretta (David) Larios of Burley; Grace (Vince) Johnson of Rigby; Irma Garcia, of Burley; four sons, Jake Olivas of Pocatello, Matthew (Trinidad) Olivas of Jerome, Leo (Lupe) Olivas of Boise, and Valentino (Jane) Olivas of Burley; thirty-seven grandchildren; and thirty-nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Annie Martinez; and a son, Domingo Olivas, Jr.
A Vigil Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, at the Payne Memorial Chapel, 221 West Main Street in Burley. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004, at the Little Flower Catholic Church, with Father Juan Garatea, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley.
Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to Mass on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary, 221 West Main Street in Burley.
Linda Claire Jorgensen
Linda Claire Jorgensen, 57, of Annis, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at her home in Annis from cancer.
Linda was born January 13, 1947, at Idaho Falls, Idaho a daughter of George S. Gillespie and Marjorie Ellsworth Gillespie. During her high school years she was involved in Drill Team and Cheerleading. Following graduation she enrolled in and graduated from beauty school. Linda's special gift was the compassion she had for and in taking care of people. Linda was a Certified Nurses Aide and was a loving caregiver for over 30 years.
She enjoyed camping with family and friends. She was a supportive member of AA She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed cooking, canning, entertaining and loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Gordon Lee Jorgensen of Annis, 1 son Travis (Jan) Jorgensen of Idaho Falls, 1 daughter, Donette (Doug) Hogan of Ririe, her mother Marjorie Ellsworth Gillespie of Lewisville and 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father George S. Gillespie and a grandson James Chase Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Lewisville 1st Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Kliff Bramwell officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery
under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
C. Randall Dexter
C. Randall Dexter, 86 of Heyburn, passed away Oct. 6, 2004, at his home.
Randall was born April 5, 1918, to Eva Dell Fisher and Joseph H. Dexter in Plano.
He graduated from Edmonds High School in Plano in 1936 and attended Ricks College in Rexburg.
Later he attended college in Portland, Ore.
He served in the US Marine Corp 4th Marine Division 25th Regimental Weapons Co. from Nov. 9, 1943, to May 3, 1946.
He witnessed the second raising of the U. S. Flag on Iwo Jima, Semper Fi.
Randall married Dorothy Loveland on May 24, 1946, in St Anthony.
They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
He worked for the Idaho State Police Patrol for two years and drove truck for several companies for most of his life.
He was a mechanic for Gem Int'l and had a service station in Pocatello for a short time.
He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Dorothy (John) Dawdy of Idaho Falls, Dennis (Dana) Dexter of Burley, and Larry ( Alice) Dexter of Juliaette; his siblings, Merideth (Renae) Dexter of Ashton, Garth (Erma) Dexter of Rexburg, Stewart (Shirley) Dexter of Rexburg, and Nellie (Norman) Thomas of Twin Falls; brother-in-law Karl Klinger of Rigby; grandchildren, Brett (Shana) Dawdy of Idaho Falls, Michelle (Bryce) Stallings of Rigby, Terema (Bryce) Carlin of Lapwai, Chelsea and Sarah Dexter of Burley, and Dan (Jenny) Olmsted of Rupert; ten great grandchildren; and special friend, Bill Duffner of Orland Park, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wilma Klinger.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Paul 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 300 S. 500 W., Heyburn with Bishop Myron Wilson officiating. A grave side service will follow at 3 p.m. at the St Anthony, Idaho Cemetery
with military grave side rites. A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St., and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Lionicio P. Benavidez
Burley - Lionicio Palacios Benavidez, a 72-year-old resident of Burley, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1932, in Rocksprings, Texas, the son of Benito and Margarita Diaz Palacios Benavidez.
He received his education in Rocksprings.
On Jan. 31, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Enoema G. Ramirez, and they have spent 52 wonderful years together.
Lionicio moved his family to the Rupert / Burley area in 1968, where he worked during the summer months, returning to Texas for the winters.
In 1970, they moved permanently to Burley, where he has since resided.
He worked for many years at A & P Potato Processing Plant and retired from Sun Valley Potato Fresh Pack.
He enjoyed playing pool as an adult and especially liked to dance. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball player. He also enjoyed listening to music.
Most importantly, he loved and adored his family, especially his grandchildren.
He loved to joke and tease them.
He was a friend to all and was very well-liked.
He is survived by his loving wife, Enoema of Burley; his children, Oscar (Sylvia) Benavidez of Heyburn, Adelaida "Adela" (Polo) Tamayo of Burley, Lionicio "Gene" (Deena) Benavidez, Jr. of Twin Falls, Alma Rosa Fuentes, and Luis Gustavo "Cannon" (Jane) Benavidez both of Burley, Patricia "Patty" (Albert) Arredondo of Heyburn, and Rogelio "Roger" Benavidez and Juan Martin "John" (Mary) Benavidez both of Burley; his siblings, Felipe Benavidez of Phoenix, Arizona, Gilberto Benavidez of Sturgis, South Dakota, Benito Benavidez of Rupert, Idaho, and Minerva Olais of Rocksprings, Texas; 33 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maida Franco and Aurora Ortega; and his granddaughter, Venessa Marie Tamayo.

Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
