Carl Murray Lindh
Rupert - Carl Murray Lindh, 73, of Rupert, Idaho, passed away January 10, 2006, at his home of terminal cancer. He was born on February 19, 1932, in Teaneck, New Jersey to Thorsten Jacob "TJ" and Ruth Harris Lindh. At the age of ten years old he moved with his parents to Rupert. He lived on the farm and graduated from Rupert High School in 1950. He was active in basketball and track. He attended the University of Idaho at Moscow, ID for a short time.
Carl married Lorena Turner in 1951 and had three children, Carl David Lindh AKA James Saint, Gregory Keith Lindh, and Gypzy "Chris" LindH. He spent five years as a surveyor for the US government. Later he transferred to the Minidoka Dam while continuing to live on the farm. In 1967 he sold the farm and moved to Sacramento, California and worked as a system power and water controller covering all of Northern California for the US government. He continued this until he retired in 1986. He married Ardella I. Fetzer on April 20, 1980. Carl received numerous awards from the National Safety Council, the President's Medal for saving the life of Marshall Eilers in July of 1958, and the Outstanding Dispatcher Award in 1983 from the National Dispatcher Association.
In 1987 Ardella and Carl moved to Yuma, AZ; then lived in Las Vegas, NV for several years and finally back home to Rupert in 1990. He was a life time member of the Elks. He enjoyed RVing with Ardella, gardening, salmon fishing, crabbing in Wallport, Oregon, and hunting. He enjoyed traveling and visiting new places, especially, mountain streams and the ocean. His favorite pastime though was fishing.
Carl is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ardella Fetzer Lindh of Rupert; son, Carl David Lindh AKA James (Jane) Saint of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter, Stephanie Buckmaster and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Charles Buckmaster of Antelope, CA; son, Gregory Keith (Geri) Lindh and grand daughters, Rebecca and Kristina Lindh of San Jose, CA; daughter, Gypzy "Chris" LindH of Springville, UT; stepson, Greg (Debbie) Saylor of Mullan, ID; step grandson, Justin Saylor of Portland, OR; step granddaughter, Misty (Toby) Flood and step great-granddaughter, Joey Flood of Hayden, ID; stepson, Ronald (Donna Lou) Saylor of Union Grove, Alabama; step granddaughter, Andrea Saylor of Nebraska; stepson, Doug (Holly) Saylor of Carmichael, CA and step grandson, Todd (Nikki) Greer of Yelm, WA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thorsten Jacob "TJ" Lindh; mother, Ruth Harris Lindh; and one uncle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, P.O. Box 1100, Boise, Idaho 83701-9958 or Minidoka Home Health & Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.
Antonio Enrique Goldaraz Jr.
Antonio Enrique Goldaraz Jr., 32, of Rupert, passed away Friday, July 15, 2005, at home peacefully due to a prolonged illness.
He was born Nov. 5, 1972, in Rupert, to Antonio and Resu J. Goldaraz. He grew up and attended St Nicholas Catholic School, graduating from Minico High School in 1990. He then attended the College of Southern Idaho, receiving a degree in business.
For most of his life he worked on his family's farm, Goldaraz Land and Live Stock. He also worked for one year at the Amalgamated Sugar Company. In 2003 he married Stephanie Knopp. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed doing many things, fishing and boating with his son, Brody, being in the mountains, and coaching his son's basket ball team. Most of all he loved life and always had a smile on his face.
Antonio is survived by his; wife, Stephanie; three step-children, Brody Olivas (12), Jade Olivas (16), and Justin Olivas (15); mother, Resu Goldaraz; sister, Maria (Robert) Goodenough; brothers-in-law, Cory (Sheri) Jones, Jeremy (Nikole) Jones, and Jason (Ginny) Knopp; nephews, Kaden and Hunter Goodenough, Jordan and Chase Jones, and Austin Knopp; and nieces, Makenzie and Kalee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Godaraz Sr. and grandparents, Juan Jose and Juana Goldaraz and Enrique and Victoria Galdaraz.
A rosary will be held 5 p.m. Sunday July 17, 2005, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will follow after the rosary at the Church starting at 6 p.m. with Father Nondier Zuleta and Tony's Uncle, Father Jesus Goldaraz, as celebrants. The burial will be 9 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005, at the Rupert Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.
Thomas Melvin Wymer
RUPERT - Thomas Melvin Wymer, 87, of Rupert, passed away April 8, 2005, at his home.
Thomas was born April 7, 1918, to Thomas B. and Hazel Hawk Wymer in Kuna where he lived as a child. He later moved to Boise and then to San Francisco during the war. He served in the Navy for three years. Thomas and his wife moved to Rupert in 1961 after living around the Boise area.
Thomas was a man of education. He had several Bachelor degrees and nearly completed his Masters degree. Thomas was not only an educator but he also worked as a Barber and later for the JR. Simplot Co. Along with loving to work, he enjoyed painting, fishing and traveling.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Stella A. Brown Wymer and his son Thomas D. Wymer of Rupert, / Jackson area. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter- in-law, Katherine Wymer.
Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St., with Pastor Dan Lovelace officiating. Military rites will be provided by local VFW and Declo American Legion.
Richard E. 'Dick' Erwin
Paul - Richard E. 'Dick' Erwin, son of Ernest and Helen Banks Erwin of Long Beach, California, was born at the home of his maternal grandparents in Springdale, Arkansas on May 13, 1927 He was called home on April 9, 2005.
Dick attended school in Compton, California, Jr. High at pioneer district school and High School in Rupert. He was a member of the class of 1946 and played drums in the school band. During these formative years he learned to fish and hunt and some of the rudiments of farming.
Dick served in the US Navy during WW II. His ships were the mine sweeper, USS Gosshawk, plying the waters of the Bearing Sea and the W.A. Mann, a troop transport, working between the United States and the South Pacific.
Following discharge he went into farming and on March 9, 1948 married Ramona Romig of Rupert. The couple had two sons, L. Scott in 1950 and R. Jeffery in 1954. He loved his family dearly, thinking that finer sons were not to be had. He and Ramona shared a deep love and commitment, which lasted for 57 years.
Dick made his career in the farm implement business being employed by Massey Ferguson Inc. for 30 years. He worked in sales for a number of years and during this period of time, along with one other salesperson, was recognized for
Top sales in the national chain of Massey Stores for many years. During the midterm of his career he became the sales manager of the Burley, American Falls, and Idaho Falls stores and later was the manager of the Burley and American Falls outlets. His great respect for the talents of fellow employees was always evident and he was very fond of many of his farm families.
Dick was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as Deacon and Trustee. Friendships among his church family were dear to him.
Dick enjoyed fishing, golf and boating with family and friends. Dick, Ramona and the boys enjoyed, often along with friends, many camp outs and took vacations together. Dick and Ramona were also blessed to see some of the rest of the world as well.
Following Dick's retirement from, Massey in 1987 he served on the Rural and United Electric board of directors. During this time he acted as liaison officer between the employees safety program and the board. He enjoyed all of these associations.
Among his various hobbies were wood working, painting, lettering, his yard and garden and refinishing antique furniture. He was endeared for his tender heart concerning those less fortunate, those with illness or problems of various kinds. He acted on these were ever possible
Dick was famed for, what was known' as the 'Erwinisms' with his quick wit applied at the right moment. (Humor was a skill honed by his sons.) He was a combination of serious thought and laughing eyes. He loved music with 'Country Gospel' being his favorite.
Dick leaves us with both sorrow and gladness for the person he was.
Preceding him in death were his father in 1967, Mother in 1993 and his brother David in 1997.
He is survived by his loving wife Ramona of Paul, two sons, Scott (Debbie) Erwin of Rupert, Jeff (Sue) Erwin of Edmonds, Washington, five grand children, Cameron (Katie) Erwin, Courtney (Mike) Hagberg, Callie Erwin, Justin Lenz Erwin and Jarod Lenz Erwin. He also had five great grandchildren, Carson, Mckinley, Jaylee and Kambree.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday April 13, 2005, at the Rupert First Christian Church, 1110 8th St., Rupert, with Pastor John Marshall officiating. Viewing and visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment will follow in the Paul Cemetery.
Ladoska Juanita Trent
RUPERT -Ladoska "Juanita" Trent, an 80-year-old resident of Rupert, formerly of White Salmon, Wash., died peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Juanita was born in Sparta, Missouri, on Aug. 17, 1924, to William and Nellie Buttram Krider. She married Harvey Clinton Trent on Dec. 17, 1941. Together, with their daughter, Carolyn, they moved several times until settling in White Salmon, Wash., in 1972.
Juanita was a homemaker who spent her time caring for her family, home, and many neighbors and friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had very strong Christian values. She believed in speaking kindly and the golden rule.
The simple things in life were her pleasure: gardening, canning, homemade cooking, sewing and reading. She never cared for television and rarely listened to the radio. She found the view from her windows more entertaining.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Orene Trent.
She leaves behind her daughter, Carolyn Glover, married to Jeff Glover of Rupert; one sister, Minnie Francis Hicks, married to Edgar Hicks of Ava, Mo.; one brother, Verlin Krider, married to Jessie Krider of Boise; four grandchildren, Shawna Clark of Spokane, Wash., Harvey Rist of Cheney, Wash., Rob Cartwright of Spokane, Wash., and Michelle Fisk, married to Gary Fisk of Paul; and eight great-grandchildren.
Juanita was an independent, loving person whose inner strength and determination showed in every task she tackled. She was well loved and respected and will be missed by all who knew her.
We would like to thank Minidoka Memorial Hospital, its wonderful staff, and Dr. Konrad for all the care she received, and to the many people who have helped her and her family along the way.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley.
A private burial will take place at White Salmon Cemetery
in White Salmon, Wash.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Burley.
Evard C. Gibby
Evard Carroll Gibby, 85, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at his home after a long illness.
Evard was born March 9, 1920, in Ogden, Utah, to Henry Hyrum Gibby and Harriet L. Welch. Evard spent his childhood on a farm in Roy, Utah. After serving a mission to the Northwestern States, he met and married Desta A Fisher in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 22, 1943. They subsequently moved to the View area outside of Burley, Idaho, where Evard was a successful farmer for more than 50 years. Desta passed away in 1985. He married Junia Moffett Peacock on June 26, 1986.
Evard was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings in the church. He served a second full-time mission with his wife, Junia, to the San Diego, California Mission from Dec. 1990 until June 1992. Evard and Junia also enjoyed working in the temple.
Evard enjoyed farming and raising his family in this community. He focused his life on his wife, his family, and his church. His greatest joy was teaching his children the gospel and helping them learn the value of hard work.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Desta A Gibby; his parents; his sister; and four brothers.
Evard is survived by his wife, Junia of Burley; one brother, Wendell Gibby of Orem, Utah; seven children, GeNeil (Lowell) Cheney of Minot, North Dakota, Evard H. (Paula) Gibby and Shanna (Dave) Roper both of Kimberly, Dorcas (Joe) Anderson of Heber City, Utah, Donetta (Paul) Rushton of American Fork, Utah, Von (Debra) Gibby and Reed (Andrea) Gibby both of Burley; six stepchildren, Davin (Patti) Peacock of Ellensburg, Washington, Mechel (Kevin) Allred of Spanish Fork, Utah, Mark (Magna) Peacock of Clearfield, Utah, Marsha (Paul) Jeffries of Burnsville, Minnesota, Diane (Allan) Allphin of Springfield, Missouri, and Lorene (Roy) Menges of Nampa; 65 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2005, at the View First and Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 550 S. 490 E., Burley, with Bishop LaVel D. Stoker officiating. Burial will be in View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family suggests memorials be directed to IHC Hospice in care of Rasmussen Funeral Home.
