Carlos Silvaz
Carlos Silvaz, a 93 year old former Heyburn resident, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006.
Carlos was born Nov. 4, 1912, in Munday, Texas, to Felix Silvaz and Petra Navarrette. He married Casaria Perez, who is deceased. He then married Tomasa Marquez Roasales.
Carlos worked at the sugar factory in Paul and was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing with his family and especially with his grandchildren, dancing, music, and just being with family and friends.
Carlos is survived by his wife and children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at St Nicholas Catholic Church, 802 F St. Rupert, with Father Mike St. Marie as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Pleasantview Cemetery in Burley. A viewing will be held Thursday 6-8p.m. with the reciting of the Rosary at 7 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.

Elvira H. Meline
Elvira Henrietta Nielsen Meline returned home to be with her husband, Irven, on Monday, April 24, 2006, at the age of 95 years. She passed away at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Twin Falls.
She was born April 19, 1911, to Hans Peter and Juliana Mollerup Nielsen in Huntsville, Utah. The family also resided in Idaho Falls and Rupert, before moving to Burley, Idaho, in 1927. She married Irven Ferdinand Meline on March 26, 1932, in Rupert. They became the parents of six children. She was a longtime resident of Burley.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully all her life. She especially enjoyed teaching Primary and Young Women's classes and singing in church choirs.
She appreciated the many friendships of fellow employees at M.H. King Co., R.O. Rambo Firestone, Idaho Department Store and Van Engelen's Department Store, where she worked as a saleslady for more than 40 years.
For nearly seven years, she resided at the Warren House in Burley, where she enjoyed the association of many old and new friends.
She is survived by her children: Robert I. Meline and wife, Carolyn of Pocatello; Roberta E. Kelly and husband, Walter of North Salt Lake, Utah; Paul Peter Meline and wife, Louise, of Moorpark, California; George Jay Meline and wife, Judy, currently serving in the LDS Donetsk Mission in the Ukraine; Ora R. Davis and husband, Frank of Burley; and Helen A. Redd and husband, Norman of Jerome; a brother, J. Earl Nielsen and wife, Carma of Parma, Idaho; four sisters-in-law; 23 grandchildren; numerous (more than 72) great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irven F. Meline; her parents; brothers, Soren P. Nielsen, Gordon E. Nielsen and Milton E. Nielsen.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the Unity First and Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 275 S. 250 E. Burley, with Bishop Boyd L. Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family expresses thanks for all kindnesses extended to Elvira by her friends and family. The family suggests memorials be directed to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund or to a charity of choice.

OTHA E. MCGILL
RUPERT - Otha E. McGill, 91, completed his work on earth and peacefully joined his beloved wife, Agnes Mae Burnam McGill, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, surrounded by his children and the caring staff at Autumn Haven Assisted Living Center in Rupert.
Otha moved to Paul at age 5 with his parents, Wheeler and Ada McGill from McCleansboro, Illinois. He was the owner of Magic Valley Sand and Gravel until his retirement in 1979. Otha served in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the Wilbur C. Hall Post #77 American Legion, the Paul United Methodist Church and he was the founder of the United States Flag Education Program.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Don) Frank, Diana (Barry) McGill, Jim (Lorelei) McGill and Mike (Brenda) McGill; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great granddaughter on the way. Otha was preceded in death by his dear friend, Kate Looslie.
A celebration of Otha's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Paul Pine Chapel at the Paul Cemetery, with the Reverend Jerry Steele, officiating. Inurnment will follow with Military Rites by the local veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne Mortuary, 221 W. Main St. in Burley.

Melody Lynne Fox
RUPERT - Melody Lynne Fox, a 55 year-old Rupert resident, passed away April 24, 2006, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
Melody was born March 31, 1951, in California to Osro and Gloria Ward Shoemaker. She lived most of her life in the Rupert area. She married Bill Fox. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various organizations. She enjoyed working on family history.
Melody loved life and adored her grandchildren. She accomplished anything she set her mind to and was an asset to the community, touching many lives.
Melody is survived by her husband, Bill Fox; children, Sean Fox, Bo Fox, and Kristen Phillips; eleven grandchildren; brothers, Greer Copeland and Tyrone McKendrick; and sisters, Rudaval Crosby, Marsha Bendele, and Wanda Murri.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at Rupert LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 26 S 100 W, with Bishop Roger Bagley officiating. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Maria D. Arceo
Maria D. Arceo, a 82-year-old resident of Burley, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Maria was born July 25, 1923, in Michoacan, Mexico. She was married to Juan Arceo and they later divorced. She lived many years in Heyburn and the last few years she has lived in Burley. She retired from Ore-Ida. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, playing at the casino, and spending time with friends.
She is survived by many close friends who were like family.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Sergio Lopez.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 802 F St., Rupert, with Father Mike St. Marie as Celebrant. A viewing will be held Monday, from 4-6 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel, 321 E. Main St., and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Leland ‘Lee' T. Young
Our loving father and grandpa, Leland Terry Young, moved on to greater heights on March 27, 2006 just seven days short of his 95th birthday.
He was born April 4, 1911, at Price, Carbon, Utah, to Silas S. and Maryann Young. He was raised on a Coal Creek ranch. He married Agnes Delsa Branch Jan. 20, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. They soon moved to Idaho Falls and spent most of their married life in Idaho spending time in Idaho Falls, Shelley, Burley, Buhl, and Boise. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was dedicated to his family and to serving others. He loved temple work and spent the past 10 years in full-time temple service. He had a great love for genealogy, sheepherding, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his children: Callis (Mary), Terry (Barbara), Norma, Vona (Sherman) Williams, Silas Paul (Dixie), and Amos DowRell (Melody), 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; his parents; brothers and sisters; and one son, Kent Grainger.
A viewing will be held Thursday evening, March 30, 2006, in Salt Lake City, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 1, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the Woods Funeral Home Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Ave., Idaho Falls.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Mortuary. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park, Idaho Falls.

Thalea Skouras
Battle Ground, Wash. - Thalea Skouras, 91, a long time Rupert resident, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Battle Ground, Washington.
Thalea was born in Kopakion, Greece, March 21, 1915. The oldest of five daughters of Kosta and Aritie Nitsou, she met and married George Skouras on June 23, 1947. They settled in Rupert where they farmed and ranched. Thalea continued to reside on the family farm after George's death in 1992. In 2003 she moved to Battle Ground, Washington, to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Thalea is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bob Calvert of Battle Ground, Washington; son and fiancé, Deno Skouras and Mary Moran of Redmond, Washington; grandson Nicholas Skouras and granddaughter Elena Skouras of Mercer Island, Washington; and sisters Eleftheria Adamopoulous and Georgia Nikolokopoulos of Athens, Greece.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; parents; and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th Street with Father Michael Kouremepis, offciating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at the Rupert Cemetery following the service.

M. Lois (Flowers) Pelton
M. Lois (Flowers) Pelton, a 70-year-old Burley resident, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
Lois was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Burley, the daughter of James Lemuel Flowers and Delona Mae McEvers Flowers. She attended schools in Burley, graduating from Burley High School. She went on to attend Idaho State University in Pocatello, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree and being very near to a Master's degree. She went on to be a teacher in the Cassia County School District for 42 years. She loved her career as a teacher. She loved her students and her students loved her.
She married in 1954 and then later divorced. She resided in Heyburn for 22 years and then moved back to Burley for the remainder of her life.
She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. She liked collecting rocks and gems, but she mostly liked spending time with family and friends. She had a great love for her cats and enjoyed having them around.
Lois is survived by her children, Jim L. (Molly) Pelton of Rupert, and Rob D. Pelton of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Jake K. Pelton and Dakota J. Pelton of Rupert and Haylie M. Pelton of Boise; brother, Jimmie (Frieda) Flowers of Burley; sisters, Kathy Joyce Flowers Merrill and Lola Debbie Flowers of Burley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Beverly and Marilyn; and two daughters, Sherri and Kelli.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Burley LDS 3rd & 7th Ward building, 2200 Oakley Avenue, with Bishop's counselor, Randy Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasantview Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel, 321 East Main Street and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
