Deana Lee Hite
RUPERT — Deana Lee Hite, 52, of Rupert, passed away Feb. 25, 2007, at St Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Center in Twin Falls.
Deana was born Dec. 16, 1954, in Burley, to D. James and Vonda Edwards. She grew up in Rupert and received her G.E.D.
She married Jay Leon Osterhout. They were married for 11 years. She then married Roy Hite and they have been married for 25 years. She worked as a waitress, and at JR. Simplot Co. and Maverick.
Deana enjoyed crafting, crocheting, collecting movies for her grandchildren, and talking to people and making them laugh.
Deana is survived by her husband, Roy R. Hite; children, Tyler (Cathy) Osterhout, Tausha (Ruben) Vela, Mandi (Richard) Ledbetter, and Dusty Hite; 10 grandchildren; father, D James Edwards; brothers, Kevin Edwards, Brian Edwards, and Mike Roberts; and sisters, Kathy Edwards, Coral Garcia, Tina (Daniel) Perez, Bonnie (Alberto) Espina, and Juanita Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vonda Edwards; father, Pete Roberts; brother, Andy Edwards; and sister-in-law, Sandy Edwards.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St.
Anna Laura Christensen
Rupert — Anna Laura Christensen, the 13-year-old daughter of David Eddie and Sara Louise Jolley Christensen of Rupert, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1993, in Burley. She attended Dworshak Elementary, White Pine Intermediate and East Minico Middle schools where she was involved with their Special Education programs. She was known as “Angel Eyes.” Many special teachers, aides, and friends were made.
Anna attended the Rupert 5th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Anna’s father said, “Anna was an angel in our world. She was sent by God to bless us all. Her spirit touched everyone she came in contact with. By knowing her you knew the love that our Father in Heaven has for us all.“
Anna’s Mother said, “Her angel eyes could always calm my mind. Her sweet spirit made me feel safe.“
Anna will be missed by all who love her. She returned home to our Father in Heaven who loves her too. Today, she runs and plays with God. We all love you Anna, and we always will.
Anna is survived by her parents, Eddie & Sarah of Rupert; two brothers, Tyson E. Christensen (age 16) of Jerome, and Bryant E. Christensen (age 8) of Rupert; one sister, Brittany F. Christensen (age 9) of Rupert; her grandparents, Lowell (Chris) B. and Mary Louise Christensen, and James F. and Helen B. Jolley all of Rupert; and a myriad of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Rupert Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 324 E. 18th St., with Bishop Steve R. Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in the Rupert Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 10 until 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Sabrina Rae “Beanee” Bedke
Sabrina Rae “Beanee” Bedke surrendered to the angels on Feb. 20, 2007, after a long and painful battle with breast cancer.
Beanee was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was full of unconditional love and embraced those around her with warmth, kindness, laughter, and a bubbly sense of humor. She was always quick to give hugs, kisses, and words of comfort and inspiration to those in need. Beanee faced many obstacles in her life that she handled with amazing grace and dignity and those who loved her are so grateful that she will no longer suffer from pain or illness.
Beanee is preceded in death by her father, Norman Herschel Bedke and her first husband George Joseph Sabol, Jr. She is survived by her children Amber Leigh Sabol and Peter Dale Haslam, her mother Veronica Delaney Brand and stepfather Steven Brand, her brothers Norman “Brent” Bedke and Michael Simpson, her sister-in-law Cynthia Simpson, her nieces Ciara and Madison Bedke, her nephews Zachary, Luke, Jacob and McKay Simpson, her former husband Dennis V. Haslam, and, of course, her “spiritual rabbit“, Thor. She is also survived by many extended family, friends, and colleagues that love and will miss her very much.
A visitation service will be held Friday March 2, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial mass from 11a.m. to noon at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at 3015 E. Creek Road (8000 South) Sandy, Utah. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Oakley Basin Cemetery
in Oakley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Sabrina Bedke’s name at any Zion’s First National Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Joannie Gutzman Fredickson Bates
Joannie Gutzman Fredickson Bates passed away Feb. 7, 2007, in Nashville, Tenn., after a courageous battle of cancer.
Joannie was the daughter of Charles W. Gutzman and Shirley Elliott. She was born in Burley, Id. on May 15, 1960. She went to school in Mini-Cassia. She married John Fredrickson III, they had a son Chuckie John Fredrickson who passed away in 2004. She later moved to Denver, Colo., where she lived for many years. Joannie worked caring for the elderly. She loved it. Joannie loved to travel. She lived in many places, but always came back home to the Burley area. Joannie loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a fun loving person and she will be greatly missed to all who knew her.
Joannie is survived by her husband David Bates of McMinnville, Tenn.; her children Michael Gutzman and Jonathon Tinsley, both of Denver, Colo., and Katherene (Avery) Durfee of Burley; three grandchildren, Steven Gutzman, Las Vegas, Nev., Joseph Tinsley, Denver, Colo., and Brooklynn Lindauer of Burley; her siblings, Debbie Timmons, Nevada, Dywayne Gutzman of Denver, Colo., Jeannie (Kent) Wayment of Burley and Dawn (Richard) Eppers; and four nieces and two nephews as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. Joannie was preceded in death by her parents Shirley Elliot (mother), Charles Gutzman (father), one nephew, Dywayne Gutzman Jr., and two nieces, Tifeny Rose and Whitney Eppers.
A cremation took place in McMinnville, Tenn. A memorial will be held at a later date.
Alexis Tupyi
Rupert — Alexis Tupyi, a 60-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.
He was born April 28, 1946, to Stepan and Halyna Osetrow Tupyi in Kiel, Germany. Alex graduated from the University of Idaho in 1969 with a B.S. Civil Engineering Degree and then served multiple tours with the 1st Cavalry Division, U.S. Army in Vietnam. He then worked with the Idaho Transportation Department in Shoshone, and became an Idaho Licensed Professional Engineer.
Alex retired with the Bureau of Reclamation in Roseburg, Oregon, in 1998, following 22 years of service. Fishing the Salmon, Snake, Rogue and Umpqua Rivers were his greatest pastimes.
Alex is survived by his mother, Halyna Tupyi of Rupert; one sister, Nancy (Jerry) Grace of Rupert; one brother, Basil (Lois) Tupyi of Wilder; a sister-in-law Debbie Tupyi of Pocatello; and four nieces residing in the Pocatello area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stepan Tupyi; and a brother, Nick Tupyi.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Rupert First Christian Church, 1110 8th St., with Pastor John Ziulkowski officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rupert Cemetery
where military rites will be accorded by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Burley.
Klea Rae Thalman
Rupert — Klea Rae Thalman, a 67-year-old Rupert resident, passed away Nov. 11, 2006, at her home.
Klea was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Burley, the daughter of Grant Bell and Hazel Sager. She attended school in Oakley, graduating from Oakley High School in 1957.
Klea married Roy Thalman, June 29, 1959, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming while Roy worked on the Colorado River Storage Project and Central Utah Project. Later moving to Montrose, Colo., this became their home base for 30 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Klea was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She loved Colorado Mountains, music and dancing, also enjoying cooking and crafts.
Klea is survived by his husband, Roy Thalman of Rupert; two children, Jeff Thalman and Kristie (Mike) Edmondson; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Buck) Fife, Tiffany (Justin) Warr and Michael Thalman; two great grandchildren, Cooper Fife and Taylor Warr; her mother, Hazel Sager; and two brothers, Clifford Bell and Cloyd Bell.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grant Bell.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St., with Bishops Counselor Scott Erwin officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Harold Wilmer Terry
Harold Wilmer Terry, an 88-year-old Rupert resident, passed away Nov. 14, 2006, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
Harold was born July 29, 1918, in Clark, to John Harold and Lizzie Viola West Terry.
He attended schools in Rigby and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. On Dec. 5, 1945, he married Anabel Martha Monroe in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in the Lost River Valley near Arco for nine years and then moved to the Rupert area where they farmed on the Northside for 30 years. After retirement, they moved to Paul. Anabel passed away May 8, 1990. He then married Laurie Penrod and moved to Almo. They were later divorced.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed wood working.
Harold is survived by his children, Diane (Jim) Staten of Mesa Ariz., Steven (Karen) Terry of Burley, Allen (Anita) Terry of Rupert, Neil (Chris) Terry of Phoenix, Ariz., Ron Terry of Kimberly, and Darrin (Terry) Terry; 29 grandchildren; 45 grandchildren; brother, Cecil Terry of Burley, and sisters, Jean Barnes of Rexburg and Doris Elmer of Ogden, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anabel; daughter, Pam; granddaughter, Shanna; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Rupert Idaho West LDS Stake Center, 26 S 100 W, with Darrin Terry officiating and military rites by the local veterans. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 6th St. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Gregory Simeon Rogers
Gregory Simeon Rogers passed from this life from a sudden illness at his home in Hazelton on Nov. 10, 2006.
Greg was born Jan. 11, 1959, the son of Claude and Leona Rogers. The Rogers’ made their family home in Eden with Greg and older siblings, Jim and Brenda.
Greg grew up in the Eden/Hazelton area and was involved from an early age in sports, work, music, drama, and school. He especially loved baseball and was an exceptional first baseman. His second love was football. In 1977, Greg was an instrumental part of the team, taking the Valley Vikings to a victorious post season play off game. Greg was honored, being selected as one of the first All Conference Players. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and especially fishing with his family and friends.
Greg was quite the musician. He started playing the trombone in the fifth grade. By the time he was a junior he decided to change instruments. He played the baritone with such proficiency, that he won the John Phillip Sousa Award two years in a row.
Greg attended the Valley School district graduating in 1977 with honors as a Salutatorian. During high school, he worked very hard at his studies and was always willing to help tutor or mentor other students. Greg loved student government and served as a class president and on the student counsel. Greg was willing to participate on committees, just to help things get done.
Greg married Tina Smith in the summer of 1977 and to this union was born two children, Misty and Scott.
Greg began his education at the College of Southern Idaho in the fall of 1977. While there, he studied business and economics. Greg again had the opportunity to participate in student government and served as a student senator and later as Student Body Vice President. He graduated in 1979 with an Associates Degree. He continued his education at the University of Idaho and graduated with honors with Bachelor and Master Degrees.
Following graduation, Greg began a long career in banking, beginning as an Agricultural loan officer for First Security Bank in Craigmont. He worked in the Lewiston area until the early 1990’s. The family moved back to the Magic Valley in 1991 where Greg continued to work in Twin Falls in the banking industry.
In the autumn of 1998 Greg married Peggy Cox Smith. Greg and Peggy moved back to Greg’s old stomping grounds in Hazelton.
In 2001, Greg took a job with the State of Idaho, serving as Regional Labor Economist for the Twin Falls region. In this capacity, he was instrumental in bringing new businesses to the Magic Valley and Mini-Cassia areas. This job especially suited Greg and it pleased him to bring jobs to so many in the Magic Valley. This was his way of giving back to the community.
Greg was a spiritual person and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. During the last few years he labored as an outreach volunteer, serving residents at the Valley Vista Nursing Home.
Greg will be deeply missed by family, friends, and those with whom he worked.
He is survived by his loving wife Peggy of Hazelton, his children Misty and Scott Rogers both of Twin Falls: Stepchildren, Shawna Wade (Brian) of Jerome, Craig Smith (Jennifer) of Twin Falls, his sister Brenda Rogers Harper of Twin Falls and eight grandchildren.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Leona Rogers and his beloved brother Jim Rogers.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at the White Mortuary Chapel, 136 4th Ave E. in Twin Falls at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006. Burial will follow the services at 1 p.m. at the Hazelton Cemetery, from I-84 East, take the Valley Road Exit, #188, turn north, travel 2 miles, at the stop sign, turn east and travel 1 mile into Hazelton. Turn left on Brooks Ave, go over the railroad tracks and immediately turn right on Cemetery
Road, travel 1/3 of a mile and the cemetery will be on the left hand side of the road.
