Glen L. Pincock
Glen L. Pincock 86, died July 18, 2002 in the Rexburg Nursing Center from incidents to age.
Mr. Pincock was born March 11, 1916 at Sugar City, Idaho the son of James Frederick Pincock and Margaret Etta Edwards Pincock. He grew up on a farm east of Sugar City and attended Sugar Salem elementary and high school. He also attended one year at Utah State University in Logan.
During WWII he joined the U. S. Navy serving from January 1942 until December 1945.
He worked for the Idaho Dept. of Transportation as a equipment operator for 25 years.
He married Margaret Ricks Mickelsen on March 8, 1957 in Pocatello. They made their home on Highway 33 towards Teton City. For several years they spent the winters in Casa Grande, Arizona. Glen was a life member of the Han Jensen V.F.W. Post 3012, a life member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1087 in Idaho Falls. He was a member of the State Employees Association, the Fremont-Madison Cattlemens Association, the Fremonida Gem and Mineral Club, served as the Madison Co. Fairboard Director and a director of the Idaho Angus Association. He helped organize the Casa Grande Mens Golf. He was also a director of the homeowners association in Casa Grande.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Rexburg; stepchildren Mike (Cathie) Mickelsen, Boise; Sandra (Jim) James, Challis; four step-grandchildren, Missy (Dave) Connolly, Oakland, CA.; Bart (Becky) Mickelsen, Salt Lake City, UT.; Aimee (Lennis) Hall, Boise; Angie (JR) Tupper, Ririe; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Bramwell, Kallispell, MT. and Beverly (Richard) Anderson, El Toro, CA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Jay and Bob and one sister Margaret Hill.
Graveside services were conducted July 20 in the Sugar Cemetery
where military rites were performed by the Hans Jensen V.F.W. Post 3012. At Mr. Pincock's request, he was cremated with only graveside services conducted.
Ina Jean Anderson
Ina Jeanne Anderson, 71, of Mackay, passed away June 30, 2002 at her brother's home in Challis, Idaho.
She was born April 1, 1931 in North Platte, Nebraska to Arthur L. and Agnes Hallume Ekberd Anderson. She attended schools in the western states graduating from Puyallup High School in Puyallup, Washington. She then joined the United States Air Force, serving four years. Jeanne continued her career as a draftsman at Mare Island Navel Shipyard. In 1984, after her retirement, she moved to Mackay.
She loved the outdoors and was active in downhill skiing and water skiing.
Survivors include three brothers: J. Boyd Anderson (Charlene) of Challis, John (Frances) Anderson of Mesa, AZ and Bill (Kathy) Anderson of Challis; one sister, Shirley Williams of Mesa, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Marsha Morawski.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2002 at Mount McCaleb Cemetery
in Mackay. A viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Simpson-Marvel Chapel in Arco prior to the services.
Leona M. Matlock
Leona Margaret Matlock, 87, died Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 9:05 p.m. at the home of her daughter in Tremonton, UT, due to complications following the stroke she suffered in 1994.
She was born July 3, 1915, in Opal, WY, a daughter of Guy Everett and Anna Mathilda Thompson Pyle.
She had one sister, Wanita K. Besuch (deceased), and four brothers, Everett Dale Pyle (deceased), Neil William Pyle, Boise, Archie C. Pyle, Logan, UT and Edwin Guy Pyle, Logan, UT.
She was raised and educated in Logan, UT. She married Charles Oliver Matlock and helped raise stepchildren, Albert, Francis and Jimmy Matlock. They then had five daughters of their own, Peggy, Donna, Wanda, Kalene and Darlene. They lived in California and Elwood, UT. They were later divorced.
She ran Bert's Cafe in Brigham City, UT for many years. She then purchased the Copper Kettle in Challis and operated it until her stroke.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved to fish, cook, fish, crochet, fish, travel, fish and bowl and was a member of Gutter Gussie bowlers. Did I mention she loved to fish?
She is survived by four daughters, Peggy Matlock, Logan, UT, Donna (Bud) Hansen, Tremonton, UT, Kalene (Richard) Dickerson, Reno, NV and Darlene Hardy, Spokane, WA; 12 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, one daughter, Wanda, and one grandson, Charlie.
A memorial service will be held later in Challis; date to be determined.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, Brigham City, UT.
Donald N. Ferguson
Donald Norton Ferguson, 75, passed away on May 25, 2002 at the Mountain Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center of Kellogg.
He was born on February 5, 1927 in Wallace to parents John Frazier Ferguson and Zoe (Beswick) Ferguson. He attended schools in Wallace and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1949 with a degree in geological engineering.
He married Evelyn Fisher of Kellogg on November 22, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He worked for mining companies in Telluride, Colo., Myers Cove, Central Idaho and Clayton. He worked for the J.R. Simplot Company for several years in Nevada and other western states. He went on an assignment in the Philippines for Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company. He was associated with mine exploration activities in the Coeur d'Alene Mining District. Finally, he worked for Hecla Mining Company for 15 years prior to retirement from his first profession.
He was a prominent rancher on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River where he engaged in many other activities including tree farming, sawmilling, hunting, horse packing and playing bridge. He received the Idaho Tree Farmer of the Year Award in 1991. He was a gourmet cook and gracious host for the many guests who visited "the river."
Don Ferguson was a life member of the Idaho Ski Club, member of the Society of Mining Engineers, Wallace Elks and other local service organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gloria Ferguson, brother Pat Ferguson and sister Gladys (Tude) McClurken. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Evelyn; at the family home in Silverton; and son John E. Ferguson and wife Lynette of Tamarack Ridge. He is survived by nieces Frances McClurken and Becky Lilley and nephew John McClurken. Great nieces and nephews are Tina Marie, Jill, Jodi and Sean Tobacco, Christopher and Jennifer McClurken and Kevin and Matthew Lilley.
A memorial service was held May 30 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wallace.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements were under the direction of Shoshone Funeral Service, Kellogg and Wallace.
Donald "Donnie" Ray Johnson
Donald “Donnie” Ray Johnson, 31 years of age, of Winnemucca, Nevada and Clayton, Idaho passed away on Friday, January 10, 2003 in Fresno, California due to injuries sustained in a semi-trailer accident.
He was born on July 21, 1971 in San Jose, California, the youngest of four children born to James and JoAnn (Sarmento) Johnson. The family moved to Clayton, Idaho when Donnie was just four years old. He attended school in Challis, Idaho and Clayton. Following graduation from ICS, he worked in the mining industry and served as an EMT for Custer County.
Donnie worked as a cook at Mountain Valley Restaurant in Stanley, Idaho for two years before attending trucking school in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was a long and short haul driver for the last ten years.
Donnie loved life, was full of laughter and noted for his presentations of opinions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the computer. He was a steadfast volunteer for the American Red Cross Winnemucca Service Center for the past three years.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Donnie is survived by his parents Jim and JoAnn Johnson of Clayton, Idaho; two brothers, Edward Johnson of Moscow, Idaho, Rob Johnson and his wife, Sunny of Winnemucca, Nevada; one sister Dottie Johnson of Kamiah, Idaho; seven nieces, JoAnn Casalez and husband, Jeff of Winnemucca, Jamie Johnson and Jason West of Windsor, California, Louri Lesbo and husband, Mike of Elko, Nevada, Lindsay Martin and husband, Anthony of Penn Valley, California, Jeanie Gibson of Kamiah, Amanda Johnson of Winnemucca, Tabitha Johnson of Moscow; four nephews, Robert Donald Johnson and wife, Stephanie of Winnemucca, James Oley Gibson of Kamiah, R. Jonathan Gervais of Oakville, California and James Johnson of Moscow; four grandnephews, A.J. and Ethan Martin of Penn Valley, Gavin Fullerton and Michael Jeffrey Casalez of Winnemucca; one grandniece, Jordyn Johnson of Windsor, California and several aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward W. and L. Faye Johnson, John E. Sarmento, Dorothy and Jim Shannon; uncle Joe Sarmento; aunt Lucille and husband, Lee Herick.

Funeral services were conducted from the Challis Mission Church Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Paul Stroud and Robert Beasley officiating. Interment was in the Challis Cemetery. The Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, Idaho was in charge of arrangements.
Woodford R. Chapman
Woodford R. “Chappy” Chapman, 80, Challis, passed away December 28, 2002 at his home in Challis.
He was born October 15, 1922 in Gloucester, Virginia to Walter and Gertrude Fugman Chapman.
He attended Pittsfield High School, graduating in 1940. He retired to Idaho in 1988. He served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant in 1940 to 1945. He served at Pearl Harbor and received the American Descented Service Medal, the EAME Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and two Bronze Stars.
He married Mary Giacoletto March 3, 1945 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He worked for the Pittsfield Fire Department from 1952 through 1969. He also owned Westside Cabinet Business, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Anglican Fellowship of the Episcopal Church and the Masons. He enjoyed carpentry and gardening.
Services were held Thursday, January 2 at the St. Louise Catholic Church in Challis.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Challis; son James and Anna Chapman, Pittsfield, MA, daughter Joann and Muzzie Braun, Clayton; six grandsons and one granddaughter: Greg and Scott Chapman, Pittsfield, MA; Cody, Willie, Gary and Micky Braun, Texas; Rebecca Messer, Pawtucket, RI; three great-grandchildren; five sisters and four brothers.
