Edwin F. Kase
March 30, 1917 - September 7, 2012
After a long and honorable life, Edwin F. Kase passed away on September 7, 2012.
He was born in Cleveland Ohio to German immigrants George and Augusta Kase.
He had five brothers and one sister.
He attended school, worked on the family farm, found work on neighboring dairy farms, and even assisted in the distribution of moonshine during prohibition.
At the age of 16 he took advantage of the opportunities in the Civilian Conservation Corps and left Ohio for Utah, Wyoming, and eventually Idaho where he sent home $20 out of every $25 that he earned to assist his family.
While in the CCC, he operated a bulldozer and worked on trails in the Grand Tetons and in the Pocatello area.
The trails and roads that he and others in the CCC worked on are still visible and widely used in the Pocatello area.
While in the CCC, he met his first wife, Bessie Marley at a dance in Pocatello Idaho.
They married
and were together until her death in 1984.
They had one child, Fred Kase in 1944.
In 1944, he left his wife and his 6-day-old son to serve in the U.S. Navy Construction Batalion (Seebees) and participated in the Pacific theater of World War II.
After the war he returned to his family in Pocatello and began a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello where he worked for 34 years and retired in 1984.
He was an accomplished gun smith, metal worker, carpenter, and loved working with his hands.
He married
Eleanor Paulsen in 1985 and they enjoyed 27 years together square-dancing, visiting Island Park, travelling, and being with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Augusta, wife Bessie, siblings.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor, children Fred Kase and Linda Orgill, grandchildren Reggie Spaulding, Troy Kase, Trent Kase, Nathan Orgill, Jeremy Orgill, Ryan Orgill, Shawn Orgill, Tasha Orgill, Aaron Long, and twelve great grandchildren.
He will be sorely missed by all of his loved ones and everyone that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Idaho State Veteran’s Home Pocatello or the Pocatello Animal Shelter.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave. Pocatello, with Pastor Steve Yadon officiating.
Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.

Bobby Smith
Bobby Byrne "B.B." Smith, 85, Pocatello, passed away, Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Portneuf Medical Center.
He was born August 11, 1927, at Byrne, Idaho to Charles and Audrey Smith.
He married
Patricia Jean Graham, August 1, 1951 at Idaho Falls.
She preceded him in death, August 10, 1993.
He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947, a veteran of the Japanese occupation and served in Korea.
He received the Word War II Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal.
He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years as a Brakeman/Conductor, retiring in 1991.
He was a long time resident of Pocatello who enjoyed fishing and sharing time with his family.
Grocery shopping was always a favorite pass time.
He is survived by a son, Rick (Pam) Ellis; a daughter, Bobette "Mike" Heath; a son, Patrick (Corrina) Smith; and brothers, Ted and Bill.
His grandchildren were always a special joy and include: Travis and Heather Ellis, Michele Walker, Misty Thomsen, Shannon Robinson, Kelby and Brandon Smith and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and brothers, Todd and Paul.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave., Pocatello.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m until service time at the Funeral Home.
Interment will follow services in the Mountain View cemetery, Pocatello.

Tom Masters
Tom L. “Papa” Masters, 86, Pocatello, passed away, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at a local care facility.
He was born August 10, 1926 at Brattleboro, Vermont.
He married
Wanda Miller, March 21, 1978 at Pocatello.
She preceded him in death April 8, 1996.
He is survived by 5 children: Jeanne Hall of Chubbuck, Norma Candill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Matt Davis of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Darlene Lester of Bancroft, Idaho, and Carlene Davis of Pocatello.
He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He came late into our lives and we were blessed and honored to call him “Papa.”
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4-7)
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening form 7-9 pm in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Ruth Alldredge
Ruth Laker Alldredge, 79, passed away in her sleep Monday August 20, 2012.
Ruth was born, January 25, 1933, and raised in St. Charles, Idaho.
She graduated from Filmore High School where she participated in the choir and marching band.
Ruth then moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she began working as an operator for the telephone company.
She then met and married
George Alldredge. Together they raised four children.
Ruth had a passion for music that she carried with her throughout her life.
For an extra income, she taught accordion lessons and also started Ruth's Potatoes, where she made and distributed french fries.
She also had a passion for animals, especially dogs. Ruth and George purchased a family pet, a Great Pyrenees named Poco.
This began Ruth's interest in professional breeding and showing.
She and George were among the founding members of the Pocatello Kennel Club.
She raised and showed multiple AKC Champions traveling to dog shows all over the North West.
During this time, Ruth and George opened Pom Poso Kennels, a family ran boarding and grooming facility.
The wife of a railroad engineer, Ruth was a member of the Junior Old Timers.
Ruth tried her hand at many arts and crafts including wood working.
Her woodworking skills were a great benefit to George and Ruth when they built a cabin in Lava Hot Springs Idaho.
The couple loved to share their mountain paradise with their many friends and family.
They hosted many gatherings filled with activities such as snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and fishing.
The Alldredge cabin brought and continues to bring many wonderful family memories.
One of Ruth's joys was teaching her family to hunt and fish.
Always a member of the LDS church, she and George were sealed in the Logan temple.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband George Alldredge, her parents Joseph and Bertha Laker, her brother Grant Laker, and her sister Della McFarland.
She is survived by her five children, Jill (Rick) Brown, Craig (Teresa Kay) Alldredge, Kim LaRue (Kim R.) Kirkpatrick, Kay Ann (Victor) Velasquez, and Corey Dee Alldredge (Crystal Covert).
Ruth also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; Shasta, Jared, Antonio, Brenda, Misty, Roberto, Cassandra, Amanda, and Corey George.
Ruth also had 18 great-grandchildren and countless others called her Grandma.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave. Pocatello, where the family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Friday evening and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery, Pocatello, where she will be laid to rest next to her Loving husband.
