Mary Helen Stowell
TWIN FALLS -- Mary Helen Stowell passed to the other side of the veil, Saturday, April 9, at the age of 96, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Helen was born Oct. 10, 1908, in Georgetown, Idaho, to J.O. Freeman and Myrtle Ellen Sorensen Freeman, the oldest daughter and child of six children. She attended school in Rupert, Idaho, where she met Fritz Stowell and they were married
Nov. 5, 1927, in Shoshone, Idaho, and were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, Feb. 23, 1928. They celebrated 72 years of marriage before Fritz passed away in 2000. Fritz and Helen taught dancing to the youth in the LDS church form over 50 years.
Helen was active in the LDS church and held many responsible positions, particularly in the Relief Society and the Young Women and was a visiting teacher for over 60 years. They were called to serve a Temple Mission in the Boise, Idaho Temple for three years.
Fritz and Helen have three children, Gerald (Marion) Stowell of Shoshone, Mary (Ted) Burgess of Twin Falls and Richard (Carol) Stowell of Kimberly. They have 13 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, three brothers, two sisters and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Shoshone, with Bishop Larry Sturgeon conducting. Interment will follow in Shoshone cemetery. Friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park."
Helen B. Wells
TWIN FALLS -- Helen B. Wells, 93, died April 9, 2005, at the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.
The daughter of George and Nellie Miller she was born Aug. 17, 1911, in Clinton, Ind., where she attended the local schools. She received her Bachelor of Science in 1932 from Indiana State University and an Master of Arts in math from the University of Michigan in 1941.
On Aug. 4, 1945, she married
Philip C. Wells. They were married
56 years until his death in 2002. Their son, John Wells, lives in Ketchum, Idaho. A daughter, Susan, died in infancy and a son, Thomas, died in 1997.
A life long, enthusiastic and demanding educator, Helen's teaching career began in 1932 in the Indianapolis, Ind., area and ended with her retirement in 1976 from the DeKalb, Ill., school district. During her career she taught English and Latin but primarily math on the secondary level.
Helen was fortunate in being able to live independently through January of this year reading voraciously, doing her daily cross word puzzle and corresponding with family and friends both by e-mail and the written word. She will be remembered as, along with many other things, a great letter writer.
Survivors include son, John Wells; daughter-in-law, Pam Wells; and grandchildren, Brett and Ashley Wells of Ketchum, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Paula Monson; grandchildren, Adam and Berit Wells of Maple Grove, Minn.; and a sister, Kathleen Lee of Evansville, Ind.
Cremation and private interment are under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home of Twin Falls, Idaho. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in Clinton, Ind.
Stephen (Steve) Andrew Wasko
FILER -- Stephen (Steve) Andrew Wasko, 74, of Filer, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Boise.
He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Dinsmore, Ark. He was the youngest of 18 children of Frank and Mary Wasko (identical twin to Ted Wasko of Kimberly, Idaho). He was raised in Arkansas and then served two years in the U.S. Army, primarily stationed in Panama where he was chosen as an Honor Guard for Queen Elizabeth during her visit there. He then moved to the Magic Valley in 1954 and married
Phyllis Bohne on July 2, 1955. He was the owner of Joe's Blacksmith Shop in Buhl, Idaho.
Steve loved bowling, fishing, hunting and working in his garden. He also coached little league baseball for several years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved joking around, especially with his twin.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Filer; his eight children, Betty (Jeff) Stevens of Buhl, Patty Wasko, Karen Wasko and John Wasko all of Filer, Mary Sass, Mark (Sandra) Wasko of Twin Falls, Carla Wasko of Campbell, Calif., and Jeff (Lisa) Wasko of Vacaville, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Angela Sass and 12 brothers and sisters.
The funeral mass for Stephen Wasko will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, at St. Edward the Confessor, with Father Boniface Lutz O.S.B. officiating. A vigil service with rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Edward the Confessor. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park." Donations may be made in his memory to the Pennies From Heaven Fund.

Brenda Sue Watson
TWIN FALLS -- Brenda Sue Watson, 53, of Twin Falls, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born May 1, 1951, in LaRae, Va., the daughter of Fred and Clara Renfroe Presgraves. She was raised in Virginia, Alabama and California where she graduated from Victorville High School in 1969. She married
Terry Watson on June 14, 1969, in Victorville. She moved around with her husband while he was in the U.S. Army, and upon his discharge in 1982 moved to Belton, Texas. They later lived in Grand Junction, Colo., and El Paso, Texas, finally settling in Twin Falls in 1990.
Brenda was a member of the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene, where she was involved with the Missions Council and serving as a greeter. She enjoyed cooking, had a massive collection of cookbooks and collected all types of chickens.
She is survived by her husband of Twin Falls; three daughters, Melinda (Jesse) Campbell, Susan Watson and Teri Watson, all of Twin Falls; five grandchildren, Thomas Campbell, Jesse Campbell, Jeremiah Campbell, Alysha Campbell and Makayla Watson; her mother, Clara Presgraves of Hesperia, Calif.; one brother, Mark Presgraves of Hesperia, Calif., and one sister, Heather Clayton of Twin Falls.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Melissa.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, at the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene, 1231 Wash. St. N., with the Rev. Jerry Kester officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park." The family suggests memorials to the Sun Valley Indian School, in care of Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene, 1231 Wash. St. N., Twin Falls, ID 83301.
Doug Vielguth
BELLEVUE -- Doug Vielguth, 55, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, April 29, 2005, at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Doug was born in Watsonville, Calif., July 17, 1949, to parents Arthur Vielguth and LaRene (Smith) Vielguth. Doug attended school in California but moved to Idaho during high school and graduated from Gooding High School. Shortly after high school, he attended tech school and became a certified welder. More recently, he completed several courses at the College of Southern Idaho.
Doug loved to work. Prior to his death, he was employed as a truck driver for Anderson Asphalt Paving. In his spare time, he enjoyed carving leather, playing on the computer and spending time with family and his constant companion "Tom" the cat.
In his earlier years, Doug was a passionate Harley-Davidson motorcycle owner and rider. This brought him great pleasure and a true sense of freedom.
Surviving Doug are his children, Christine LaRene (Matt) Corona of Santa Rosa, Calif., Douglas Arthur Vielguth Jr. of Stockton, Calif., Shondra and Shannon Vielguth of Lake County, Calif.; brother, John (Jan) Vielguth of Houston, Texas; sister, Cheryl (Dale) Siver of Bellevue, Idaho; nephews and nieces, Jon (Sharon) Vielguth of Birmingham, Ala., Doug (Krista) Kulhanek of Bellevue, Idaho, Stacey (Jeremy) Ihler of Twin Falls, Idaho; and stepmother, Ora Vielguth of Jerome, Idaho. Doug is also survived by his only grandchild, Kailee Corona, whom he adored and cherished. She always held a special place in his heart.
Services were held for Doug on Monday, May 2, at the Bellevue cemetery. A fund in memory of Doug Vielguth has been established for Kailee Corona, his granddaughter, at Wells Fargo Bank.
Mary N. Null
BOISE -- Mary N. Null, a 70-year-old resident of Boise, formerly of Burley, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center after a brief illness due to falling in her home.
Mary was a dedicated and creatively talented educator for over 48 years. Her dedication to the education of children was epitomized in believing that educators and students are simultaneously teachers and learners. She consistently applied her belief in public education and in private education. She was a past president of the Idaho Talented and Gifted Educators Association. Her colleagues frequently referred to her as a "warrior" for the gifted and talented students.
She married
Al in 1958. They shared marriage as life partners, life friends, unqualified lovers.
Mary was a "coal miners daughter," born in Fleming, Ky., and raised in "company towns" in the Kentucky and Virginia Appalachian Mountains. Her father learned to read several years after her graduation from Georgetown College, Georgetown, Ky. He was a remarkable father, providing the best support he could, subsequent to her mother's death when she was in the sixth grade, arranging for her to attend a religious boarding school for the remainder of her grade school and high school years.
At age 70, her vibrant enthusiasm will now be missed by Al and her colleagues. She leaves a legacy of love for education and loving Al.
A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley.
Julie Dawn 'J D' Poulton
BURLEY -- Julie Dawn Poulton, affectionately known by her family and friends as "J D" Poulton, a 44-year-old resident of Burley, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at her parents' home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
J D was born June 1, 1960, at the Cottage Hospital in Burley, Idaho, to Robert L. "Bud" and Kleta Masters Breeding. She received her education and was raised in Murtaugh. She married
Parley Lynn Poulton on Aug. 28, 1978, in Burley, Idaho, where they have lived and made their home.
J D was a kind and compassionate woman and loved life! She used her wonderful personality in serving others. She made a lifetime of friends at places she worked including the Kimberly Nursing Home, the old A & W Root Beer Restaurant in Burley, and for the past 26 years, has worked in the public's eye at First Security Bank in Burley, that is now Wells Fargo Bank. At the time of her death, she was a lead teller.
J D was a young woman of many talents. She enjoyed wood crafting, tatting, gardening, baking, and making cookies and candies. She loved her cats, was always the first to help others in their time of need, and was the last to leave the job. She enjoyed being with family and looked forward to family gatherings. She spent countless hours in making handmade gifts for her nieces and nephews and was known for hiding money in them as a special surprise.
J D also served the community in other ways. She was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, was a team member for Relay for Life, and was a volunteer at the Community Health Fairs. Most important, she was a devoted wife, daughter, sister and friend.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Lynn Poulton of Burley; her parents, Bud and Kleta Breeding of Heyburn; two sisters, Jodie (Kelly) Tesch of Twin Falls and Jeanette Olsen of Burley; three nephews; eight nieces; and her father and mother-in-law, Keith and Vivian Poulton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.R. and Mary Breeding, and Victor and Thalia Masters.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at the Burley West Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2420 Parke Ave., with Bishop Scott Bray officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Roberta Cathryn Forgey
JEROME -- Roberta Cathryn Forgey, age 42, passed on after a long illness on April 29, 2005, of natural causes in Jerome, Idaho.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Ellen Kramer of Live Oak, Fla.; her three sisters, Donna Barry and Glenda Forgey, both of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Charlotte Pulsifer of Twin Falls, Idaho; two nieces, four nephews and a countless amount of friends and loved ones, among those, her fiancee, Roy T. Gwinn of Jerome, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn R. Forgey, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service for Roberta will be announced at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S. Lincoln, Jerome, ID 83338.
Jose 'Joe' Andre
WENDELL -- Jose "Joe" Andre, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Sunbridge Care Center in Twin Falls.
Jose Gregorio Andre was born in Azores, Portugal, to Gregorio Luis and Honorina Luisa (Vieira) Andre on Jan. 19, 1939. Joe married
Maria Resende on June 10, 1978. They raised four children, Greg Andre, Kevin Andre, Joe (Noel) Mendoca and Elaine Mendoca. They moved their family and dairy operation from Turlock, Calif., to Gooding, Idaho, in 1982. Joe loved being a dairyman. On family outings Joe always kept an eye out for cattle, frequently stopping to inspect them. He also enjoyed ocean fishing and dancing at the Festas. After retiring, Joe and Maria moved to Wendell, Idaho.
Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Maria; three sons and a daughter; three grandchildren; one sister, Maria (Raul) Gil; one brother, Fernando (Lurdes) Andre; nephew, Junior (Gail) Gil, and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Buhl, with burial following at the West End cemetery. Friends and family are invited back to the church for a light lunch and a time of fellowship and remembrance following service. A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at the church. Funeral services are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
Johnie Mae Loomis
BOISE -- Johnie Mae Loomis, 86, of Boise, Idaho, passed away Friday, May 6, 2005, at a Boise care home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at the Whitney United Methodist Church, 3315 Overland Road, Boise. Private inurnment at Morris Hill cemetery will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction Bowman Funeral, Garden City.
Johnie Mae was born in Bedford, Ky., on May 24, 1918, to John Parnell Holloway and Roberta L Morgan Holloway. Her family moved to Montana, where her father worked for the telephone company. She received her education in the Bozeman, Mont., school system and graduated from Billings Polytech Business Institute and attended Montana State. She married
Donald Reese in Livingston, Mont., in 1937 and two sons were born to them. The Reese family moved to Ketchum, Idaho, in 1955. Johnie Mae worked as a waitress in Ketchum, Idaho, where she raised her two sons.
In October 1960, Johnie Mae married
George Loomis Sr., a prominent building contractor in the Ketchum-Sun Valley area. Together they built a successful and reputable construction company, Loomis Construction Company. In 1972, George and Johnie retired. They enjoyed homes in Hagerman, Twin Falls and Hailey before settling in Boise in 1991.
Johnie and George enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world and especially enjoyed visiting every state in the USA. They were one of the "Snow Birds" wintering in Lake Havasu and Palm Desert. Johnie particularly enjoyed painting. She preferred oils and many of her paintings are shared with friends and family. Being a Montana and Idaho gal, she loved the mountains and sitting by a fresh mountain stream. She will be remembered by family and friends for her strong will, devotion to friends and always caring about her family.
Her beloved husband, George, died in 1999. She is survived by her sister, Rowena Weil in Billings, Mont.; and brother, Bruce Holloway in Las Vegas, Nev.; and her five sons, Ronald (Peggy) Reese in Sandpoint, Idaho, Rodney "Pepper" (Holly) Reese of Boise, Idaho, George Loomis Jr. (Linda) of Hagerman, Idaho, Ned Loomis of Boise, Idaho, and Gary Loomis of Hailey, Idaho. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glen Edward Stroud
PASCO, Wash. -- Glen Edward Stroud, 75, died suddenly Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash.
Glen was born July 8, 1929, in Buhl, Idaho, to Leslie and Elizabeth Stroud. On May 28, 1948, he married
his sweetheart, MaryLou Roberts, in Twin Falls, Idaho. They moved to the Tri-Cities in 1949 and have remained here since. Glen was the owner and operator of Northside Auto Service in Pasco, Wash., until 1993 when he retired to take care of MaryLou in her illness.
Glen was an active member and past president of the Columbia Basin Shrine Club and dedicated his life to helping children through the Shriner's Hospital. He worked tirelessly to raise money to help children in need of medical care, selling raffle tickets to almost everyone he came across. He helped to transport children and their families to the Shriner's Hospital when they had no other transportation.
His family will always remember him as a very giving and dedicated man with a soft spot in his heart for children. We will all miss him greatly.
Glen is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, MaryLou Stroud; his parents, Leslie and Elizabeth Stroud; his sister, Helen Jean Briggs, and his sister, Francis Madarieta.
Glen is survived by his sons, Daniel Stroud and wife, Sheila, Ron Stroud and wife, Susan, Steven Stroud and wife, Cindy; and his daughter, Lucinda Stroud and close friend, Darren Edelen; eight granddaughters; two grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; close friend, Margaret Girton; his brothers in the Shrine; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St., Pasco, WA. Burial will follow at City View cemetery in Pasco. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home.
