Thelma Wrigley
Burley
Thelma Tolman Wrigley, an 88-year-old resident of Burley, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Parke View Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Chesterfield, Idaho, the daughter of Fredrick and Ella Sessions Tolman. She received her education in Paul, graduating as the valedictorian of Paul High School in 1934. She later received a master's degree in English Literature from Idaho State University. She married
LaVerl Burgess Wrigley on Nov. 2, 1935, in Rupert. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Boise LDS Temple.
Thelma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she faithfully served in the various organizations throughout her life. She was also a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and had served as a board member of the Migrant Council.
She was the librarian at Minico High School in Rupert for many years and later worked for the school system in Mountain Home until retirement. She loved knowledge and was passionate in studying, reading and doing genealogy work.
She is survived by her children, Leah Hill of Burley, Frank (Billie) Wrigley living in Wisconsin, Fred (Judy) Wrigley of West Valley City, Utah, and Keith (Nina) Wrigley of Middleton, Idaho; two brothers, Glen (Janet) Tolman living in Washington and K.C. (Helen) Tolman living in California; 15 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and two grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rupert cemetery.
Lloyd Emery
Twin Falls
Lloyd Emery, 56, of Twin Falls, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at his home following an extended battle with Mesothelioma.
He was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Boulder City, Nev. He attended schools in Searchlight, Beatty and Gold Point, Nev. He attended high school in Hagerman where he graduated in 1965. Lloyd then joined the Navy where he served in Vietnam.
Upon his discharge he lived in Las Vegas, Nev., until the early 1980s when he moved to Twin Falls. He became partners with his brothers, Bob, Albee and Jerry in Emery Brothers Construction. Lloyd was a master sheet metal man and fabricator. Lloyd was gifted at converting buses into motorhomes, and he enjoyed doing it. He married
Karen Aufderheide on June 7, 2004, in Jerome. He loved going to the Jarbidge Mountains, four-wheeling with his family.
Lloyd was baptized on July 27, 2004, with the following baptismal scripture: "You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." Galatians 3:26-27.
He is survived by his wife of Twin Falls; his beloved aunt, Edna Pollard of Twin Falls, who was like a mother to him; two children, Aaron (Erika) Emery of Las Vegas and Dean (Teri) Emery of Las Vegas; three stepchildren, Kelly (Chris) Adamson of Jackson, Wyo., Holly (Cory) Lorenzo of Tucson, Ariz., Jacob Sams of El Mirage, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; five brothers, Bill (Annemarie) Barry of Coos Bay, Ore., Bob (Debbie) Emery of Filer, Albee Emery of Twin Falls, Jerry (Debbie) Emery of Jerome and Melvin (Lorna) Barry of San Diego, Calif.; and three sisters, Arline (DeLynn) Peterson of Pocatello, Idaho, Leora (Jerry) Maag of Baghdad, Ariz., and Geraldine (Gary) Harnden of Mt. Home, Idaho; and by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park," with Ron Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Filer cemetery, with military rites by the Magic Valley Area Veterans and auxiliaries. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White Mortuary.
Dorothy Mae Doyle
Glenns Ferry
Dorothy Mae Doyle, 92, of Glenns Ferry, passed away at the Holly Nursing Home in Nampa on Oct. 25, 2004.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at the VFW Hall in Glenns Ferry. Burial will follow at Glenn Rest cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Dorothy was born in Tremonton, Utah, Sept. 6, 1912, to George and Florence (Emma) Sherman. They moved to Dietrich, Idaho, when she was an infant and then to Glenns Ferry when she was eight years old. She lived the rest of her life in Glenns Ferry except for the last nine months when she went to stay with her daughter in Nampa.
Dorothy married
Reed E. Thompson on Sept. 3, 1928, at Wendell, Idaho. Four children were born to this union, Elden, Loren (Bill), Helen and Valda. Reed passed away on April 21, 1941. Dorothy worked in the local restaurants to support her family. In 1949, she married
Joseph F. Doyle. Joe died on Jan. 31, 1985.
She was a member of the Glenns Ferry Senior Citizens, a 65-year charter member of the local VFW Auxiliary, over 50-year charter member of the local Women of the Moose and a member of the Lady Trainmen.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Elden (Mayvis) of Bliss; a daughter, Helen Thompson of Nampa; daughter-in-law, Wanda Thompson of Lewiston; two sisters, Olive Fuhriman of Boise and Ellen Simpson of Jerome.
Dorothy guided, loved and helped mold the lives of her four children, 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren and all their extended families.
They all loved and respected her and will feel this great loss in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, a son, a daughter, two grandsons, two brothers and three sisters.
Because Dorothy, all of her children, some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren attended the Glenns Ferry School, the family is setting up an annual scholarship fund for a deserving Glenns Ferry High School student.
This award will be administered by the Glenns Ferry VFW Auxiliary.

Philip Clark Cochran
Hazelton
Philip Clark Cochran, 79, of Hazelton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Oct. 25, 2004.
Phil was born on Feb. 23, 1925, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Raymond and Nelle Cochran. Phil grew up and attended school in the Hazelton area. He graduated from Hazelton High School in 1943 and immediately enlisted in the Navy. Phil was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned to the Hazelton area. He then met Betty Moldenhauer. They were married
on Oct. 10, 1948, at the Hazelton Presbyterian Church in Hazelton. He later attended Montana State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Upon graduating, Phil returned to the Hazelton area to run the family farm.
Phil then became a sixth grade teacher in Hazelton, a Junior High football coach and drove school bus for many years.
Phil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; five children, Kathy, Mike, Tim, Tom and Richard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Laur of McCall, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Tom; and two sisters, Carol and Sarice.
A memorial service for Phil will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Valley High School, 882 Valley Road S., Hazelton, ID 83335.
During the services, family and friends will have a chance to share a personal memory with Phil. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley High School at the address above or given to the mortuary staff.
Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park," in Twin Falls.
David Harvey Hall
Wendell
David Harvey Hall, 77, of Wendell, passed away Oct. 22, 2004.
He was born July 18, 1927, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Ralph Glover and Viola Hall Glover Rawson. He lived with his grandfather, Erin Irwin Hall in Hazelton.
David joined the Navy to serve in World War II. After completing a four-year tour he remained in California, driving truck for Safeway Foods. He married
Jean Belle Barlet and had a child named Patricia. In 1957 David returned to Twin Falls with his family and later divorced Jean. He was driving truck for E.A. Tolman when he met and later married
Florence Marie Hollenback on Feb. 14, 1959, in Elko, Nev. David, his daughter, Florence and her two children lived in Twin Falls adding three more children to their family.
David moved his family to Hagerman, Idaho, and began ranching for Kerr Land and Livestock in 1970. He retired fully in 2002 after many part time jobs to keep him busy. He and Florence built a new home on a small acreage near Wendell.
Preceding him in death are his beloved wife, Florence; three sisters, Eleanor, Elaine and Marylin Faye, also a grandson and great-granddaughter.
Surviving him are two sons, Layne (Candy) Hall, Logansport, Ind., and Ervin (Brenda) Hall of Wendell; four daughters, Patricia Garrison-Metzger, Glen Carman, Illinois, Robin (Michael) LaKamp, Portland, Ore., Connie (Craig) Belveal, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Diana (Danny) Brady, Filer, Idaho; five brothers, Frank (Carol) Rawson, Hagerman, Idaho, Lawrence Rawson, Twin Falls, Idaho, Noal (Kippi) Rawson Tillamook, Ore., Ervin (Mary) Rawson, Hagerman, Idaho, and Jack (Kathy) Rawson, Pocatello, Idaho; two sisters, Sharon (Lyle) Malone, Battle Mountain, Nev., and Carol (Merrill) Bertoch Roosevelt, Utah; and his mother-in-law, Nellie Hollenback, Fairfield, Idaho; 25 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Demaray Funeral Chapel, 164 E. Main, Wendell. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be designated to First Choice Hospice, 147 Main Ave. E., Twin Falls, ID 83301.
John Walter Dark
Cayucos, Calif.
John Walter Dark, 84, of Cayucos, Calif., passed away on Oct. 15, 2004, at the Woodside Nursing Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
A memorial service will be held in Washington State at a future date.
John was born on Nov. 24, 1919, in Nashville, Tenn., the son of John Walter Sr. and Jennye Dark. Upon completion of high school, he joined the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in 1940 during World War II stationed at Panama Canal and the South Pacific. After he was discharged from the service, John's career included chef at many race tracks throughout the country and fine restaurants in Seattle and San Francisco. John was self employed as a roofer in San Jose, Calif., before he retired.
John was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and volunteered for many years as a driver and an honor guard member for the DAV in Twin Falls, Idaho.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends for his positive attitude, sense of humor and his infamous story telling.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Lori of Cayucos, Calif., stepdaughter, Gail Taylor of LaConner, Wash., sister, Gwen; and niece, Jennye of Nashville, Tenn.; nephew, Roy and his wife, Lynn Butler, of Boise Idaho; niece, Betty Butler Hoshaw of Idaho; the Cantrell family of Buhl, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Washington, Idaho and California.
John is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Betty "Pete" Dark.

Asher Michael Critchfield
Twin Falls
Asher Michael Critchfield was stillborn Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.
He is survived by his twin sister, Ava May Critchfield; his parents, Michael J. and Michelle Lyn Critchfield; his grandparents, Casey and Patty Critchfield and Terry and Jolene Miller; his great-grandparents, Marvin and Maggie Hirsch, Olga Critchfield, Muriel Miller and Marjorie Schuldt; and his great-great-grandmother, Ella Hirsch.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Rupert cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Burley.
Nelle Ketterling
Rupert
Nelle Irene Ketterling, a 78-year-old resident of Rupert, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at her home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Oakley, Idaho, the daughter of John Vincent and Delldee Mae Brown Carson. She graduated from Rupert High School in 1945. On Dec. 1, 1946, she married
Rueben E. Ketterling in the home of John and Delldee Carson. Following marriage they made their lifelong career in farming in Rupert, where she had since resided.
Nelle was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed decorating cakes for family and friends. She liked entertaining in her home where she fixed large dinners for various occasions.
She enjoyed playing cards, dancing and costume parties. In her eyes, the more the merrier.
Rueben and Nelle worked as a team in farming and raising the children. She was the first woman beet truck driver at the beet dump. Many followed after her.
She loved children and the excitement in their eyes and their giggles and laughter. She especially loved her grandchildren and thrived for them. She was continuous in keeping in touch with all family members for she believed in keeping close ties.
She was an outstanding artist and loved to oil paint. She also liked to fish and go camping.
She was an active member of Burley First Presbyterian Church where she was active in Presbyterian Women. She belonged to the local Christian Women's Organization, volunteered and taught Sunday School at the Paul Congregational Church and worked in the PTA. In her early years she worked at Carter's Dry Cleaners in Rupert.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rueben E. Ketterling of Rupert; her children, Larry (Nancy) Ketterling of Paul, Jerald (Toni) Ketterling of Rupert, and RaNelle Straw of Caldwell, Idaho; three sisters, Bess Unversogt of Warren, Ore., Billie Lott of American Falls, Idaho, and Genevieve (Nolan) Jewsberry of Twin Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law, Jacob and Caroline Ketterling; two brothers, Fran and Kit Carson; two sisters, Marie and Bernice; and her son-in-law, Dan Straw.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the Burley First Presbyterian Church, 2100 Burton Ave., with the Rev. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will be in Paul cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
