Robert 'Bob' Danner
Robert Danner was born in Twin Falls, Idaho. A legendary aviator, he passed away Monday doing what he loved most, flying in the Frank Church Wilderness.
He grew up and attended school in Stanley, Idaho. Upon completing high school, Bob served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. It was there that his passion for flying took flight.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife and partner, Dia Terese; Gay Wiig, the mother of their three children; his children, David Danner and Kimberly McCain. His son, Darren, passed away at the age of 11 in 1978. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Bobby Danner and Jenny Danner; and Danielle McCain; his four brothers, Charles, Howard, Leonard, Leslie; and his sister, Myrna
Bob was an extraordinary and skilled pilot who knew the Frank Church Wilderness and the Sawtooth Mountains like the back of his hand. He and his beloved wife, Dia, were known as the "dynamic duo" who touched the lives of countless travelers and friends. "Danner" as he was called by many, loved to fish and hunt. His projects were vast as his talents. They ranged from roofing an airplane hanger to casting a fly rod. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Those who knew him well, will feel an empty void.
His smile, his humor and his generosity of spirit will be missed greatly. His spirit will be felt in the mountains beneath many wings and by dreamers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Stanley Air Taxi, Stanley, Idaho.
James A. Downs
Rupert
James A. Downs, an 89-year-old Rupert resident, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
James was born April 30, 1915, in American Falls, Idaho, the first of three children to Tom and Vella Downs. He graduated from Albion High School and the Albion State Normal School. He then taught school for several years and was principal of the Albion and Cascade grade schools. During the summers, he worked as a forest guard in the Smith's Ferry Ranger District and for Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company near Cascade.
Early in 1941, Jim was accepted for naval flight training in Seattle and Corpus Christi. After receiving his "Wings and Commission," he was assigned various duties: Primary Flight Instructor, Aircraft Carrier Groups and Carrier Aircraft Service in the Pacific, Multi-engine Instructor duty, Carrier Flight Operations Officer during the Korean conflict, Personnel and Staff Operations Officer at Pt. Mugu, California, Missile Test Center. Then to the Atlantic with Airborne Early Warning Squadron No. 15, flying the Dewline from Newfoundland to the Azores. Lastly, as Naval Liaison Officer at Lockheed Aircraft, Kennedy Airport, N.Y.
Retiring from the Navy as a commander after 21 years, he accepted a flying position with a world-wide charter airline based at Wilmington, Del. He married
Lucille Friesen on Sept. 14, 1972. Then, after 13 years of flying in the Pacific and Atlantic areas and four continents, Jim and his wife, Lucille, returned to Rupert, Idaho. Still wanting to fly, he became a flight instructor and flew charter from the Burley airport for eight years.
He remained active with youth groups and Masonic orders, but most of all he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his two lovely granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
Jim began his Masonic years at Cassia Lodge No. 14 at Albion, Idaho, in 1939. He served as worshipful master for two years, secretary 14 years, and served in most of the other positions. He joined the Honolulu Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons in 1948, later transferring to the Boise Valley Consistory. In 1980, he joined the York Rite Bodies, RAM Chapter 22, Rupert, Council No. 7 and Commandery No. 10, both of Twin Falls. He served the Grand Lodge of Idaho as: grand historian, DDGM for two terms and grand representative of Washington Grand Lodge in Idaho.
Other Masonic orders with which affiliated: The order of the High Priesthood, Red Cross of Constantine, Royal Order of Scotland, Order of Eastern Star No. 39, serving as Associate Patron of OES No. 39 and Associate Guardian Bethel No. 39 and International Order of Job's Daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Rupert; one daughter, Marianne (Mark) Behle, of Warwick, N.Y.; two sons, Tom Downs of Norwich, Conn., and Joe Downs of Belmont, Calif.; two sons by marriage, Don (Marti) Friesen of Rupert and Gary (Darlene) Friesen of Rupert; seven grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany, Bradley, Asa, Christopher, Cooper and Jesse; one great-grandchild, Paisley; and one niece and one nephew.
His parents, two sisters, one grandchild, and his youngest son, Bill, preceded him in death.
He lived a life of service to his country, his family, his friends and affiliations. He continued to grow in this calling during his retirement years and was always there for everyone. The memories he has left us will be cherished forever.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 Sixth St. Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Learning Center in Twin Falls or charity of your choice.
Geraldine Elizabeth Zollinger
Wendell
Geraldine Elizabeth Zollinger, 83, a resident of Wendell, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the Twin Falls Care Center.
Gerry was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Wendell, Idaho, to A.A. and Bessie Lee Benson, she was the second of six children, with four sisters and one brother. She attended and graduated from Wendell schools. She started working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company when she was 16-years-old. She worked in their Wendell, Jerome, Gooding and Buhl offices throughout her career retiring in 1981.
She met and married
Grant Zollinger July 7, 1947. They were married
in Elko, Nev., and lived most of their life in Wendell. They had two daughters, Cheryl and Janice. Grant and Gerry celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Grants death in August 1997.
Gerry was very active in the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, the Democratic Party, the Mountain Bell Telephone Company Pioneers and the Rebekah Lodge. She also served on the election board for numerous years. She was also a huge baseball fan. She saw the Atlanta Braves play in Arizona and the Dodgers home game. And recently received a baseball autographed by Nolan Ryan, being one of her most treasured gifts.
Family and friends will remember Gerry as being a great hostess and cook, especially for her homemade bread, rolls, cinnamon rolls and dill pickles.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Rick) Kirtley and Janice (David) Degner; her grandsons, Eric, Ryan (Nikki) and Adam Kirtley; one great-grandbaby, Madalyn Elizabeth Kirtley; two sisters, Lucille (Scott) Gulick, Norma (Duane) Johnson; one brother, George (Vi) Benson; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband, Grant; two sisters, Dorothy and Jean and their spouses preceded her in death.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at the Wendell United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Wendell cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Demaray's Wendell Chapel.

John V. Souza
John V. Souza passed away on Sept. 24 in Carson, Nev., at the age of 63 following a short illness.
John was the loving son of Norman Souza of Paradise, Calif., and the late Margaret Souza; stepson of Vera Souza; and devoted friend of Jasmine Shackley. He was also the nephew of Esther Bernardo, the late John Souza and the late Helene Bolls. He had an extended family of many cousins.
John was born in San Gregorio, Calif., and graduated from Half Moon Bay High School. After graduation John began following the pro rodeo circuit and he had many successful years until injuries forced his retirement in the mid-1960s. John then returned to the family's farm/ranch operation and remained there until he moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1978. He worked as a field representative for Ferry-Morse Seed Company in the southern Idaho area for many years. John was an avid deer hunter and fisherman as well as a sports enthusiast. He loved to hunt with his springers, Skip, Tag, Joe and Toby. John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
Robert E. Weaver
Paradise, Calif.
Robert E. Weaver, age 80, of Paradise, Calif., died Sept. 28, 2004.
He was born Sept. 23, 1924, and raised in Buhl, Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys of 29 years; one daughter, Diana (Gary) RadiI of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Robert R. (Diane) Weaver of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
No services are planned. Cremation took place at Rose Chapel in Paradise, Calif.
Paul Magee
Twin Falls
Paul Magee, 91, of Twin Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the home of his son in Jerome.
He was born March 20, 1913, at Independence, Kan., the son of George F. and Lilly Zimmer Magee. He was raised in Randal, Kan., and graduated high school there. He moved to Twin Falls where he met and married
Catherine Johnson in 1939. Paul served in the Army Engineering Corp during World War II, in both Germany and the Philippines. After the war he returned to Twin Falls where he worked as a photographer, worked in the grocery business and with the local television station as a cameraman from its inception until his retirement. His hobbies were photography and woodworking.
He is survived by six children, Paul Raymond (Jane) of North Carolina, James Robert (Nancy) of Ogden, Utah, Jonathan Richard (Kathy) of Jerome, Idaho, Thomas William and Steven Fredrick (Debi) both of Twin Falls and Douglas Edward (Denise) of Pocatello; one daughter-in-law, J.C. Magee of Twin Falls; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and by one sister, Geraldine Magee of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, George Michael; one daughter, Sarah Ann; one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth; and by one brother, Bill.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Park, with Pastor Mike Seward officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park."
Virgil 'Bud' Skinner
Twin Falls
Virgil "Bud" Skinner passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, in Twin Falls.
He was born March 30, 1936, in Benton, Iowa, but lived most of his life in Twin Falls.
He is survived by three sisters, June Nisson of Twin Falls, Vivian (Max) Bennett of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Rexene Johnson of Moses Lake, Wash.; granddaughter, Jessica McCracken, and two great-grandsons of Youngsville, Pa.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bud regarded his many friends as family also, and loved to share his passion for photography and country music with everyone. He often spoke of the good times he had with his friends at the Montana Steakhouse, dancing and enjoying the music he so loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, June and Virgie Skinner; his young son, Robby, who died while in service; and his nephew, Robert Larison, who died in Vietnam; and great-niece, Chrystal Geer.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, ID 83301. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Twin Falls cemetery.
Martha Walker Crane Webb
Martha Walker Crane Webb, 88, our beloved mother and grandmother departed this life peacefully Friday morning, Oct. 8, 2004, at The Twin Falls Care Center following a long life well lived.
She was born on March 18, 1916, to Melvin Rollin and Effie Eliza Hunter Walker in Oakley, Idaho, the sixth of 10 children. She grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Oakley, and played on the championship basketball team that won the state championship tournament.
She married
Ralph Owen Crane on March 12, 1935, in the Logan Temple. They started their life together in Oakley, later moving to Gooding, Hansen, Buhl, Kimberly and Twin Falls. While in Twin Falls, Martha dipped chocolates and made mints at Fredrickson's Fine Candies. In 1968, they moved to Castro Valley, Calif., where Martha worked at the Oakland Temple. Ralph passed away in 1976. Martha married
W.T. "Mike" Webb on April 18, 1983, in the Oakland Temple. She moved to the chicken farm in Livermore, Calif., where they lived until 1989 when they moved back to Twin Falls.
Mike passed away Feb. 13, 1999.
Martha was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as Primary President, Relief Society teacher and a Visiting Teacher. Martha was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She loved family gatherings, hearing her family sing or laugh and Pepsi.
Martha is survived by her daughters, JoAn Havens of West Valley City, Utah, Pauline (Lee) McCracken of Twin Falls, Carma (George) Bingham of Olympia, Wash., and Lesley (Grant) Smith of Portage, Utah; her grandchildren, Dennis McCracken, Michael McCracken, Douglas Havens, Robin Havens Parker, Alan McCracken, Bart Havens, Jennifer Austin, Nanci Clarkson, Stephanie Havens, Martha Ann Miller, Aaron Scott and Elizabeth Scott; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LeVerle Stasney Humphries of Murtaugh, Idaho, and Marion Faraoni of Butte, Mont.
She is preceded in death by both husbands, an infant daughter, three grandsons, five brothers and two sisters.
We will honor her life at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at the Twin Falls 11th Ward Chapel, Kimberly Stake Center at 3857 N. 3500 E.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Reynolds Funeral Chapel and from noon until 12:45 at the church. Interment will follow at the Twin Falls cemetery.
Martha's family would like to thank the Twin Falls Care Center for their care and special thanks to Dr. Patrick Desmond for his loving concern for her and to our angel, nurse Gail, and all the staff at Idaho Home Hospice for helping to make the transition peaceful.
Darrell S. Howell
Darrell Sid Howell, 34, of Nampa, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at his home.
A viewing and reception will be held today, Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So., Nampa. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 at the Declo cemetery in Declo, Idaho.
Darrell was born on November 22, 1969 in Burley, Idaho to Donald and Sharon Howell. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Fort Collins, Colo. He married
the love of his life, Shellie Cook on April 7, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Darrell's love of woodworking was enjoyed by all and he left a piece of his work with everyone he cared for. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards.
His greatest loves were his two grandchildren and his two bulldogs.
We will all miss his wonderful smile.
Darrell is survived by: his loving wife, Shellie Howell of Nampa; his father, Donald Howell of Burley; his mother, Sharon Howell of Burley; his sister, Donna Baker of Boise and his brother, Don Howell and wife, Lisa, of Meridian; stepchildren, Jason and Amanda Reed of Boise; grandchildren, Xiamena and Alexander; nieces and nephews, Camille Hooper, London Howell, Dustin Hooper and Brock Howell; his grandmother, Vera Howell of Burley; several aunts and uncles; and a friend, Leola.
He was preceded in death by three of his grandparents.
