Carol J. Wunderlich Dugger, 66, Orofino, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at her residence.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at the Best Western Lodge at River's Edge Conference Room in Orofino.

Sharon Powell, 70, ran Orofino skating rink
Sharon Kay Powell, local business owner and life long Grangeville resident passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
Sharon was born June 14, 1941, Grangeville to Jay and Lois Warden. The house she was born in was located on the same spot that the Print Shop is located today. Sharon attended schools in Grangeville and in her younger years in Washougal, WA and Business School in Washington. She worked at Western Auto, where she met her husband, Roy, and Madison Lumber Company. Then she went on to own Western Auto in 1968 to 1973 and Print Shop & Office Supplies from 1986 to 1998. They also ran the local roller skating rink for many years in Grangeville, Kooskia, Kamiah and Orofino.
She married
Roy A. Powell on August 18, 1962 in Grangeville. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jay and Lois Warden: brother, Douglas: in-laws, Lloyd and Sue Powell: and a sister-in-law, Nancy Sue Powell.
She is survived by her husband, Roy of Grangeville: her sister and brother in-law Christopher and Lois Haagen of Puyallup, WA and nephews and niece Brad Stickney, Richard Haagen and Rachell Haagen. She is also survived by a sister and brother in-law Gay and Tucker Lindsey of Lucille; brother in-law Don Powell of Yakima, WA, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She enjoyed antique cars and their 1924 Dodge. Until she wasn't able, she also loved traveling to Hungry Ridge with Murph and Marge and the gang, trips to Canada and snow birding in Arizona and Mexico. She was a member of the Cranker's Club for 49 years and a member of the Elks Lodge #1825, helping run the bingo stand for many years. She helped Roy when he was the Grangeville Fire Chief. She even got to travel with Roy to Appleton, WI to drive back the brand new fire truck. She also loved drinking her morning coffee and doing the crossword puzzle.
The family would like to thank the Grangeville EMT's, the staff at Syringa General Hospital and Dr. Griffis for their care. And special thank you to Bernard DeHaas and Bob and Betty Beckman for their help and support.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church. Inurnment will follow at Prairie View cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Blackmer Funeral Home, Grangeville. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Rev. L. Marshall Campbell, 85, former minister here
The Rev. L. Marshall Campbell who served the Orofino Cavendish Peck United Methodist Church from Feb. 1954 to Nov. 1958 died March 9, 2012 following a tragic accident. He was 85. A pedestrian, he died of injuries sustained from being hit by a car while he was out walking in his Des Moines, WA neighborhood.
Rev. Campbell was born in Darrington WA, Nov. 29, 1926, the oldest of three sons of Paul and Ina Campbell. He graduated from University of Puget Sound, earned his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1951, and was awarded a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale Divinity School in 1952. After ministering in Palouse and then Orofino, he served on the Methodist Church Conference staff, and later churches in Camas, Edmonds and Port Orchard, WA. Rev. Campbell was very active, always volunteering and helping somewhere, and he loved to learn and travel. He participated in over 40 Road Scholar (Elderhostel) trips.
He and his wife, Joan, had four children, two of whom (John Paul and Donna) were born in Orofino. Joan died in 2008. He is survived by sons, David (Debbie) and John (Joanne); daughters, Donna (Curtis) and Kathleen (Joe); brother, Eugene (Doe); stepsisters, Margaret (Cliff), Norma, and Nancy (Roger); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alvin 'Cub' Loren Fay, 94, Orofino
Alvin 'Cub' Loren Fay, 94 of Orofino passed away at his home March 22, 2012. He was born Aug. 16, 1917 in Juliaetta, the youngest of 11 children.
He married
Eva Mae Howard in 1950 and they reared three children.
Cub served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.
He retired from the Camas Prairie Railroad in 1982 after 41 years as a section foreman.
A favorite memory of his was as a youngster he rowed across the Clearwater River in the winter during the ice flows in a row boat to get across the river.
Cub had a love of music and played guitar, sang and yodeled in a local band which also aired over the radio in the late 1930's and early 40's.
He was an annual participant in the Orofino Lumberjack Days for years and won many of the competitions.
At 82 years old, Cub built his own shop, which he spent a lot of time building bird houses, wishing wells and planters. He was always tinkering with something.
Cub raised a large garden every year. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman into is late 70's.
Survivors include: his wife Eva Mae Fay; son, Gary Fay, daughters, Irene Dowd and Rosetta Christopher; two grandchildren, Loren and Shane Dowd; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Melrose cemetery in Peck. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel is caring for arrangements.
Jack Larry Hester, 68, Ahsahka
Jack Larry Hester, 68, of Denver, CO, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his home in Ahsahka. He passed away with his family by his side. Jack was born Oct. 9, 1943 to Jack Hester Sr. and Helen Scott in Denver, CO. Jack was a diesel mechanic who worked for several trucking companies.
Jack was a long time resident of Denver, CO. Throughout most of his life, Jack loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with friends and family.
Preceding Jack in death were his mother and father, Jack and Helen, as well as his sister, Cheryl Clements, and a granddaughter, Montana Rose Peoples.
Surviving Jack are his sons, Frank and Albert Hester; daughters Lovena (Kirk) Vallem, Patricia (Curt) Peoples, Diana (Cam) Parrott; his sister, Claudia Hester; as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
At Jack's request there will be no public service. The family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to any drug and alcohol treatment facility.

David J. Faerber, 85
David J. Faerber, 85, a lifelong Uniontown, WA farmer, passed away Tuesday, March, 20, 2012 at the Avalon Care Center in Pullman, WA.
David was born Feb. 28, 1927 on the family farm south of Uniontown to Walter E. and Clara (Mayer) Faerber. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Colton High School in 1944. Dave served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 when he was honorably discharged.
He spent his entire life farming until his retirement in 2010. Dave married
Dolores Kunze on April 25, 1953.
Dave is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores at the family home in Uniontown; his children John (Theresa) of Spokane, WA; James (Mary) of Moscow; Anthony (Joy); Marilyn (Keith) Dahmen of Colton, WA; Gwen (Mark) Heitstuman of Peck; Pamela McCord of Spokane; David R. Faerber of Midlothian, TX; Victoria (George) Berryman of Spokane Valley, WA; Andrea (Bradon) Arnzen of Cottonwood; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Shauna, Clinton, Brittany, Timothy, Joseph, Samuel, Sara, Tyler and Claire; 1 great grandson James; his step grandchild, Sandra (Chris) Miller; three step great grandchildren, Jade, Khol & Fianna; his brother, Thomas Faerber of Uniontown and his sister, Eilene Holmberg of Spokane. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; siste,r Ernestine Dahmen, and brother, Carroll Faerber.
Visitation will be held at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Rosary Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11 a.m. with interment following at St. Boniface Catholic cemetery.

Morgan Faith Keane, 8, Orofino
Morgan Faith Keane was granted her perfect heart on March 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in the arms of her mother and father. Morgan was born on April 14, 2003 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and courageously fought through open heart surgeries and lengthy hospitalizations.
Morgan's life would seem short to many, but for those who were touched by her, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live it. Her contagious smile and sparkling eyes could melt the hearts of those around her and though she was small in size she had a big voice.
She possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Her courage led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She looked forward to swimming and boating in the summer, roasting hot dogs and trick or treating in the fall, making snowmen and sledding in the winter, stomping puddles and celebrating her birthday in the spring.
Morgan loved animals of any kind, but had a special spot in her heart for cats, especially tigers. She was an amazing artist, loved school and was eager to learn. She was very proud of her Honor Roll ribbon she earned for the 2nd Quarter of 3rd grade. She admired her older brother, Braeden and was a proud big sister to Danica and Macy.
Morgan is survived by her loving parents, Dan and Angela (Marvin) Keane; brother Braeden; and sisters Danica and Macy, all of Orofino. She is also survived by paternal grandparents, Peter and Karen Keane, Centreville, VA; maternal grandparents, Chris and Susie Marvin, Orofino, and Tyler and Rosanna Kanetake, Kaneohe, HI.
Also surviving are: great-grandparents, Charles and Florence Ricci, Pompano Beach, FL; Alice Maybury, East Longmeadow, MA; Homer and Barbara Marvin; Darlene Anderst; and Sandy Davis, all of Lewiston; aunts Nicole (Justin) Louchart, Lewiston; Stephanie Daniel, Centreville, VA; Heather Gillespie, Portsmouth, VA; uncles, Aaron Marvin, Whitefish, MT; Matt (Angela) Keane, Washington, DC; cousins Grady Louchart and Taylor Keane. Morgan also leaves behind an extensive medical team, too numerous to mention, that provided Morgan with love and dignity in her life and also in her death.
She was preceded in death by her beloved cat, Lucy.
There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Orofino High School gym. A potluck will follow at the National Guard Armory, Orofino. At the request of her sister, Danica, we invite you to wear pink, Morgan's favorite color.

Dorothy Rider, 78, Pierce passed away Friday, March 16, 2012.

Gladys Bryant Doll, 93, formerly of Orofino
Gladys Doll passed away in Snohomish, WA on March 8, 2012. Glad was born Aug. 2, 1918 in Orofino, Idaho, the fifth of six children of Orofino-area homesteaders John Bryant and Lydia Lavina Stearns Bryant.
Glad graduated from Orofino High School in 1936 and the University of Idaho in 1940 where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta. She married
Gilbert Doll on Aug. 14, 1940. They were the first couple to be married
in the newly rebuilt (current) Orofino Methodist Church after the earlier edifice was destroyed by fire. They had two children, James Bruce (1941) and Barbara Ellen (1944). The family lived in Idaho, Nevada and Utah, where Gil was stationed with the U.S. Forest Service. Glad stayed home with the children, and occasionally held a teaching or clerical job. Their son, Jim Doll, died in a tragic parachute accident in 1960.
Glad was active in PEO, bridge club, and the Presbyterian (and Congregational) churches. She enjoyed reading, singing, travel, friends; and children; especially her grandsons: James Clyde Keithly (Melissa), and Jeffrey Bruce Keithly (Maya). Late in life her joy was time with her four great grandsons: Lancelot Mowilos, Orion Keithly, Quinn Keithly, and Luke Keithly. She was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings, Don Bryant, J.Arlie Bryant, Eula Bryant Reem, Vera Bryant Werner, and Maxine Bryant Musiel.
In retirement, Glad and Gil traveled the southern US in an RV. They moved to Green Valley, AZ with other Forest Service friends. They traveled to Alaska, Canada, Mexico, England, Wales, Scotland, Spain, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania.
After Gil died in 1996, Glad moved to Snohomish to be close to Barbara and Bruce Keithly and their family. She will be missed by her family; including a sister-in-law, Dot Jorgens; many nieces, nephews, friends, and the staff at Emeritus of Snohomish where she lived.
A service celebrating Glad's life will be held May 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Snohomish.

Edna Alice Lewis, 94, formerly of Orofino
Edna Alice Lewis, 94, Boise, was called home by her Lord Jesus on March 10, 2012. She was born Oct. 14, 1917 in Upton, NM to Levi Richard Jones (Bud) and Anna Marie Miller. Edna was the oldest of eight children and spent her childhood years in New Mexico, Texas and California. She was a graduate of Poly High in Riverside, CA.
In the depth of the Depression in 1936, she married
Wayne Curtis Lewis and their marriage lasted 64 years. Edna was a hard working, humble lady all her life. For example, she worked the swing shift as 'Rosie the Riveter' during World War II. All the while, she was raising her two sons, Roger and David, since Wayne was in the Army in Europe. Her job was to assemble aircraft instruments for the war effort.
Edna loved to garden, canning, cooking and going hunting and camping with her family. She and Dad loved the mountains of Weaverville, CA for 33 years, until they moved in 1998 back to Orofino, Wayne's birthplace.
Edna lost Wayne in 2001 and in 2011 she moved to Boise to be near some of her family. She was a huge Boise State University Bronco fan and was so excited to step on the blue with her grandson, Ken Lewis, Bronco Chaplain.
Edna's friendship to all was very contagious and she will be missed by all who knew her, who she regarded as VIPs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her mother, Anna, and father, Bud; sisters, Rachel and Marie; brothers, Gerald and Levi (Lee); three grandchildren, Angel, Larry and Carrie Lewis.
Edna is survived by her brother, Art (Lucille) Jones of Yreka, CA; sisters Mabel Pitteroff of Sparks, NV, and Anna (Rex) Dick of Nampa; her son, Roger (Pat) Lewis of Boise; grandchildren, Ken (Judy) Lewis with daughters; son, David (Martha) Lewis of Orofino and Darel Lewis, with Shawn and Morgan; Matt (Jennifer) Lewis, with Wyatt, Savannah; Melinda (Bob) Grissom; and Tina Lewis, grandchildren Ashley and Michael. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Leslie (Jeff) Olsen with Brandon, Amy; Chanell (Ryan) Hernandez, with Bailey, Mercedes; Carrie (Michael) Knight with Natasha, Cameron, Khristian (Ubaldo) with Kristian, Karina, Kyran. She also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 19, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Following visitation, Edna will be buried alongside her husband in a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Orofino's Riverside cemetery. There will be a second memorial service at 10 a.m. March 26 at Grace Assisted Living in Boise.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Brookside Landing in Orofino, Grace Assisted Living in Boise and St. Luke's Hospice in Boise for their wonderful care, especially Brian Greenwood, St. Luke's Hospice Chaplain.
