From there, she went on to Saint Francis School of Nursing in Peoria. She graduated with a Registered Nursing degree in September 1953 when she also received an endorsement in psychiatric nursing from Creighton University Saint Joseph Unit in August 1953. She worked as a registered nurse in Orofino approximately 3.½ years at Clearwater Valley Hospital, then at State Hospital North for 28 years. She retired from SHN in 1993. Some of her many favorite hobbies were going to yard sales, gardening, canning, sewing and needlepoint.
Their original plan was to have six kids, three boys and three girls. After their fourth son was born, they decided the ratio of boys to girls was now out of balance. Although Dollie always wanted a daughter, she decided then that she would wait and let the boys bring her daughters home; "already trained and with no returns". She loved all her 'daughters-in-law' as if they were her own.

Ruth Grace Meadows Bausch, 88, Orofino
Ruth Grace Meadows Bausch passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, Jan. 7, 2011 at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino.
Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Grand Junction, CO to Louis and Grace Meadows. The family moved to Salt Lake City, UT, a few years later. When the Great Depression hit, they moved to Declo to work in the potato fields. Although Ruth and her three younger brothers, Albert, Rueben, and Merle, didn't have many possessions during their younger years, they were richly blessed with strong family values and a hard work ethic.
In 1939, her family relocated to Lewiston where Ruth graduated from high school in 1941. On July 4, 1942, she married
Daniel Bausch in Wapato, WA, and they made their home in Lewiston while Dan served in World War II. Upon his discharge, they moved to O'Neil, NB, for a short time then returned to Lewiston where Dan went to work for Clearwater Power Company. Dan, Ruth, and their three children, Woody, Sandy, and Dennis, lived in Lewiston and Juliaetta for eight years before they moved to Orofino in 1955.
Ruth very much loved the home and farm that she and Dan built. She always welcomed guests, whether they were family, friends or strangers, into her home. Ruth would engage guests in a game of cards or entertain them with fond stories of her family. Guests never left her house without a full tummy and a smile on their face.
Ruth was famous for her cooking, especially her buttermilk pancakes and homemade cinnamon rolls. She would graciously share her recipes with anyone upon request, but all agreed that no one could quite replicate the taste because she always added a special ingredient (love) to everything she made.
Ruth lived a life of honesty, hard work, and a love for all people. If she wasn't cooking, cleaning, or tending to other chores around the family farm, she was painting ceramics, making yarn covered hangers, sewing, or crafting. She was well known as a grocery clerk in the old M&K; in Lewiston, and Bessents, and the old Hayes stores in Orofino.
Although Parkinson's disease limited her mobility in later years, she enjoyed taking trips to the casino and shopping.
Ruth is survived by her three children and their spouses: Woody and Colleen Bausch, Sandy and Ed Butler, and Dennis and Kim Bausch. She enjoyed her seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother and his spouse Rueben and Jeanne Meadows, and an abundance of extended family and close friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Albert and Merle, and her husband, Dan.
A visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 14, from 2- 5 p.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 11 a.m. at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino. A potluck luncheon will follow at the Orofino Senior Center. Meat and beverages will be provided. If desired, please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert. Burial will be held at Normal Hill cemetery in Lewiston at 3 pm.

Fran Goffinet Lukenbill, 89, grew up around Central Ridge
Mom passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, of causes related to living a long, fabulous life. She was 89.
Not wanting to miss the fireworks, Mom decided to make an early and unscheduled entrance into this world while the family was enroute to Nezperce to celebrate the Fourth of July festivities. Born Zillah Maidia Frances Goffinet to Eugene and Elizabeth Goffinet of Central Ridge, on the Fourth of July, 1921, Mom was a firecracker from day one! She was the ninth of 10 children.
She was known to all her family and friends simply as "Scram." She had built a wooden car big enough for a nine-year-old girl to ride in that looked just like the car, "Scrambola," from a popular cartoon strip of the day. The name stuck.
Mom's favorite things were reading, fishing with dad, music and anything that had to do with family. She could still sing harmony to her old favorites until the end. Nearly as cherished as her family were her memories of growing up in Peck and Central Ridge, where the family farmed. Her stories made one think there was no other place quite like it on Earth. Her life and values were formed by small-town farm life and the Great Depression.
Mom married
Jerry Lukenbill in 1939, and they spent most of their married
life in the Lewis-Clark Valley, where their five children were born and raised. Like most moms, she was the best mom in the world, and we will miss her very much.
She is survived by daughters, Jeaneanne and husband Bill Henley of Marysville, Wash., Kathie and husband Jack Zimmer of Coeur d'Alene, Debbie and Cliff Wogsland of Clarkston, and son Marty Lukenbill and wife Sherry of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; eldest son, Monte; granddaughter, Jerri Kay Henley; her parents; and nine brothers and sisters.
We especially want to thank the wonderful staff at Wedgewood Terrace for the incredible loving care they gave to our mother.
We are going to have a celebration of Mom's life on the Fourth of July in Pioneer Park.
