Dorothy Barbara Kettenburg, 84, Lenore, passed away at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino on Nov. 22, 2010.

Beverly Mae Myers, 73, Orofino
Beverly Mae Myers of Orofino, age 73, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, of injuries from a fall. Her family was at her side.
She was born July 25, 1937, in Helix, OR, to Harvey and Mary Bechtel. She had one sister, Marilyn Childers, of Ione, OR. She graduated from Helix High School in 1956 and attended beauty school in Walla Walla, WA. She married
Dale Brock in 1959. Together they had two daughters: Elizabeth Brock of Battle Creek, MI, and Barb Marsh of Lewiston.
She was a stay-at-home mom while her daughters were young. Being home to raise her daughters was very important to her. After the girls started school, she worked part time at JC Penny, Skow's Meat Cutting and PFI's seed starter plant. She was a wonderful mother who never missed a school activity. Years later her marriage ended in divorce and in 1987 she married
Dennis Myers. She provided a fun and loving home to her family and all who knew her. She also cultivated lasting friendships wherever life carried her and she will be deeply missed by many.
Bev and Dennis did a lot of traveling, including to Mexico, Alaska, California and Michigan. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, watching soap operas, picking wildflowers, collecting sea shells, sewing, puzzles and cross-stitch. As her children grew up and had families of their own she enjoyed her role of grandma, especially playing games with the grandkids. She took great pride in being present for the births of Randi and Colby.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Dennis, and their dog, Zack; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Cleo Childers; daughters, Elizabeth and Barb; stepchildren Joey Myers, Suze Jones, and Mike Myers; grandchildren, Randi Marsh, Colby Marsh, Justin Mains, Taylor Mains, Danielle Jones, Nathen Myers, Matt Myers and Kylie Myers; her aunt, Eleanor Arras; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and dear friend, Dorothy Troyers.
Thank you to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and Sister Margie for all of your help and support. Also, to everyone for all of the cards, calls, flowers and well wishes. Bevy, your memory will live on and you will be forever missed. Mom, you were a great wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandma and friend. May you rest in peace.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in her honor may do so to the charity of their choice.

Fred W. Cowger, 96, formerly of Orofino
Fred W. Cowger, age 96, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Life Care Center of Lewiston. He was born Nov. 30, 1913 at Caldwell, Idaho to William and Bessie (Smith) Cowger. At an early age, Fred's family moved to Southwick where his father farmed and had a small sawmill. Fred worked at the mill until he left home.
Fred then worked at the White Pine Lumber Co. at the Band Mill at Grangemont. He later went to work for the Camas Prairie Railroad and worked there until retirement.
He married
Bernadine Norris and they lived at Orofino until her death. Later, he moved to Clarkston, WA and married
Fern Berry in Clarkston. They were later divorced.
Fred lived in Beaverton, OR for a few years before moving to Lewiston. He became a resident at Juniper Meadows in July 1996. When he required more care, he was moved to Life Care Center of Lewiston.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine, an infant daughter, his parents William and Bessie Cowger, brothers Abner, Frank (Hank), and Ernest, and his sister Pearl Haddan.
He is survived by his brother, Harry; and sister-in-law, Dorothene; sisters, Ethel Goffinet and Mabel Cowger; son, Richard of Beaverton, OR; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at Riverside cemetery in Orofino. Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston is handling the arrangements.
Sylvia Fae Propst Freers, 67, formerly of Orofino
Sylvia Fae Propst Freers passed from this world Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at the age of 67 years.
Services were Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO. Burial was in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
She was born May 8, 1943 in Orofino to Lester and Cecil (McDaniel) Propst. Sylvia lived in Idaho and Washington before making her home in Independence.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Sylvia lived her life as a devoted Christian and was a baptized member of the RLDS Church, and was currently a member of the Saint's Restoration Branch in Blue Springs, MO. She was an avid gardener, an accomplished painter and photographer who loved spending time with family and friends. Her life enriched the lives of others and they will treasure the memories of their time together.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years and lifelong companion, Fred Freers; their three children, Jerome L. Freers and wife Renee', Stella Freers Preator and husband Chad, and Rene Roxanne Freers Durham; she will be greatly missed and remembered by her mother, Cecil L. Propst of Independence, MO; two sisters, Lynda Propst Rolfe and husband Rob of Lamoni, IA and Diana Propst Hughes and husband Gary of Blue Springs, MO; nine grandchildren, Damon, Logan and Jacob Freers, Kristin and Jason Preator, Trevor Freers, Prestan and Dustin Skaggs and Trace Durham; one great granddaughter, Alexis Stamps and extended family.

Montie Charles Lineberry, 45
Montie Charles Lineberry died Nov. 4, 2010 in Lewiston. He was 45 years of age.
Montie was born to Kelly H. and Lois (Humiston) Lineberry on May 7, 1965 in Lewiston. Montie grew up in Pierce and attended school there. He graduated from Timberline High School in 1983.
He started working for Supak and Lineberry Logging at a young age. He worked for the City of Pierce where he was certified to operate the water and sewer system. He also ran equipment like backhoes and snow plows. Montie worked for Rocky Mountain Construction, Sam Moreford Construction and worked for Alferd Schroeder on his ranch. Montie was disabled these past 14 years due to an automobile accident.
He was a very caring person. He was a caregiver for several people including his grandpa, Ken Humiston. To many of his friends, he was a counselor and encourager.
Montie loved the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, ATV and dirt bike riding and shooting guns. He was a collector of antiques and anything with a little value or sentiment. He loved his Harleys and his friends who loved Harleys. Montie had many friends, he love them and was loyal to them. One of Montie's favorite things was his talented black dog, Bandit.
Montie married
Sharon Opdahl and they later divorced. He also had a long time companion, Jody Ward, along with her son, Benjamin Michales.
Montie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ken and Martha (Eatmon) Humiston and his paternal grandparents, Coy and Allura (Coltrain) Lineberry.
He is survived by his parents, Kelly B. and Lois Lineberry of Clarkston, WA; his brother, Kelly J. and Kari Lineberry of Kamiah; two nieces, along with several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Viewing will be at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Orofino on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 3-6 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Life Center (mile post 69 1/2), 4432 U.S. Highway 12 between Kamiah and Kooskia. Internment will be at the Pierce cemetery following the service.

Montie Charles Lineberry, 45, Kooskia
Montie Charles Lineberry, 45, Kooskia, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in Lewiston.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at The Life Center in Kamiah. Burial will follow at the Pierce cemetery.

Ralph C. Lacey, Jr., 69, Orofino
Ralph C. Lacey, Jr. went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010. He passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, with his family close beside him.
Ralph began his life Nov. 1, 1940, in Orofino. He was the first child of Ralph C. Lacey, Sr. and Donna Lacey. He attended Peck Grammar School through sixth grade, began junior high school at Orofino, and graduated from Orofino High School in 1958. He began his college studies at Links College in Boise in June 1958.
On Nov. 1, 1958, his 18th birthday, he married
Barbara LeBaron. The couple lived in Boise until May 1959, when they returned to Peck.
Ralph began work for Lashley's Willys Jeep in Orofino, where he remained employed until 1960, then went to work for Mel Johnson at NAPA Valley Motor Parts. Ralph purchased the business in 1969, operating it until it was sold to Clay Hesson in 1991. In his semi-retirement, Ralph began operating Valley Equipment, buying, selling and repairing used equipment.
On the Fourth of July 2008, Ralph and his family began work on his dream cabin in Cardiff Spur. It became a full-time job for Ralph, who often worked from dawn until dusk, and it was finally completed enough by December 2009 for the family to spend their first Christmas there. Ralph loved to spend time with his friends and family hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, and just generally being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and older sister, Doris.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Orofino; son, Doug, of Orofino; daughter, Brenda, and Tim Clelland of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Danielle and Brandon Butsick, Brittani and Derek Bailey, Dustin Clelland, Matthew Lacey, Michael Lacey and Allison Lacey; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella Bailey and Derek Zaccai Bailey.
The family requests the presence of friends at a memorial service to honor Ralph at 1 p.m. Friday at the Weseman cemetery followed by a gathering at the Ponderosa Banquet Room in Orofino.
Delbert Glen Humiston, 95, Orofino
Delbert Glen 'Debs' Humiston, an Orofino resident always went on a Sunday drive and on Oct. 24, 2010, after he completed his usual drive; drove on to heaven. He was 95.
He was born April 1, 1915 on the family farm in rural Potlatch to Frances W. and Ira (Burden) Humiston. He was raised and attended school there. As a young man, he overcame the loss of one arm and he worked at the Potlatch sawmill and then for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs) out of Bovill Camp.
In the late '30s, he moved to the Pierce area and began working for his step-father, Charlie Lang, horse logging.
In 1952, he went to work for what is now Potlatch Corporation in the truck shop at Headquarters, becoming a well known welder. After 25 years, he retired June1, 1977.
On May 2, 1945, he married
Edna Barnard McMillen. After his retirement, they moved from the Pierce area to Peck. He moved to downtown Orofino in 1985. In 1998, he wanted to move up on the ranch his daughter, Sharon and her husband, Louie, owned so they could visit him daily. However, the remained very independent up until the day of his death.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising a garden, even having a small garden this past summer. In later years, he really loved watching his pigeons fly around his home.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon K. Turcott (Louie), Orofino, and Glenna Rae Delp (Charlie), Vancouver, WA; step-daughter, Joan Decker (Tom), Moscow; step-son, Ellis McMillen (Marlene), Michigan; six grandchildren; 4 1/2 great- grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; and brothers, Eldred and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at the Christian Faith Church Center, 1355 Elm St., Clarkston, WA at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 with burial to follow at Normal Hill cemetery. A dinner will follow.

Dorothy Anna Alkire, 90, formerly of Pierce
Dorothy Anna Heitmann Alkire, also known by Anna to some, age 90, of Lewiston, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
She was born Sept. 3, 1920, on the Bartlett ranch at Gifford, to Louis and Marie Brammer Heitmann. Her birth announcement read: "Born One Suffragette." Ironically, this became a reality. She believed as Joseph Joubert - "It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it." Watching C-SPAN, and finding someone to debate about it, brought much delight to her. She was always eager to express her opinions, not only in politics, but in the adult Bible class at her church. Her deep interest in reading and learning prompted her to become a part of a weekly book study group, where she developed many wonderful friendships.
Her school years were all at Gifford and she graduated in 1937.
On Sept. 3, 1938, she married
Archie George, a teacher and coach. They lived at Gifford, Reubens and Pierce. The marriage ended in 1943. She then moved to Seattle, where she worked at Boeing until the war ended. In 1948, she married
Wayne Alkire. They lived in Alaska, Olympia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Seattle. In 1985, their marriage ended in divorce.
Dorothy, having no children of her own, formed special relationships with many young people, among whom were her many nieces and nephews. She worked for a nonprofit agency in Seattle whose purpose was to coordinate child care in King County to make life better for low-income families. She worked for Alcohol Program Service in Seattle before retiring and moving back to Lewiston in 1997, to be near family members who were very dear to her. She became a volunteer for a time with CASA, an organization concerned about the rights of children. Also very dear to her were her church family and the many outreach programs. She felt so richly blessed by them.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Albert, who died before she was born; her parents; her grandparents; brothers Norbert, Clifford and George; and sisters Adetha and Georgene.
Dorothy is survived by one sister, Carolyn Cronrath and husband, Dan of Lewiston; one brother, Jim Heitmann and wife, LaVonne of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Pete Smith of Clarkston; brother-in-law, Steve Kovach and wife, Bev of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Millie Heitmann, of Kamiah; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
We are all grateful for her friendship and influence in our lives. She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorials be made to the Lewiston Library Building Fund, P.O. Box 617, Lewiston, ID 83501. Dorothy was an avid reader, and appreciated and used the library frequently.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston, with burial at 2 p.m. at Good Hope Lutheran cemetery in Gifford.
